Konzen isn't sure what he just heard coming out of his mouth. A thanks? But not really? It seems pretty clear to him at first, but then Genjo denies thanking him. It's just like the time he admitted he was in pain and that he should talk about it, but insisted on ignoring the problem instead. There's a thing that's obvious, but he'll pretend that it's not. Why is he like this?

Though he supposes that if their roles had been reversed, Konzen might have objected to expressing thanks, too. Explicitly, anyway. ]

[He's not really the happy-go-lucky type, but there's something about this guy's energetic cheer that's a little bit infectious. Between that, the flowers, and the new lease on life that... well, dying has given him, Hijikata finds himself feeling... oddly young. For a moment, he feels almost like he did with his friends when they were back at the Shieikan, swapping half-true dirty stories late into the summer nights, when they were young and stupid and unapologetic.]

[It hurts to think about them, a little bit, but... it's nice, all the same, to feel like that again.]

Given Fubuki looks like he can barely stand up right now, Shun can't help but level him with a rather skeptical glance at the offer. Still, an extra lookout isn't something he passes up lightly.]

Aside from the obvious ayakashi or things we'll see coming, we should probably be keeping an eye on how badly people are getting affected by this scent. You still look mostly passable, but it doesn't look like everyone's taking it as well, and if they get too bad we should probably get them away from the trees.

Ludger feels the weight against him. He is nota crutch for you, Add. Remember that day Ludger carried you up the stairs like a sack of potatoes? It's happening again.
