[closed] no matter how many times you lose them
Who: Sheryl (
galactically) and Enomoto (
hackberrydragon)
What: Prayer #9
When: March 12th, late morning/early afternoon
Where: Narita Seiryo High School
Warnings: Does Sheryl herself count as a warning?
[Today is Sheryl's first time fulfilling a special request for a non-fan, as well as her first time actually stepping foot in a large city on Earth. "Truly, I don't do this kind of service often!" is her usual motto, and this is no different. Unlike her usual bout of bodacious cheerfulness with a heaping order of ego, however, there is grim determination in her eyes as she stands in front of a large white building, the images of a worried teenaged girl plaguing her thoughts.
That girl lost a ring. It was a special memento that her late father once more, and a one of a kind piece of jewelry created by her grandfather. Having lost earrings that symbolized a dead family member herself, it's only when Sheryl heard the story that she immediately took it upon herself to find the missing ring.
Of course, she can't do it alone.]
Whenever I lose something important, I'm only depressed for about a day. If I lose a charm, it just means that it's someone else's charm now.
[She turns to face Enomoto, gently tugging her right ear with knitted brows before she heaves a sigh. Briefly her thoughts linger at the single fold quartz earring that Alto is taking care of back home. At least it's safe, but...]
But that girl is not me... Eno, we have to find that ring.

But that girl is not me... Eno, we have to find that ring.

Her musings do catch his attention, though. ]
Maybe she thinks the same way.
[ It's a weird sensation when he looks up at the building. There's something here, definitely here but he can't quite pinpoint it right then. It's faint: a signal coming from somewhere just out of reach. He pauses to adjust his glasses, as if that would help him focus. ]
It doesn't look like it's on the ground floor... do you think we can get inside?
no subject
She folds her arms across her bust, shifting her gaze between Eno and the building.]
Let's put a smile on her face, anyway.
['By finding the ring' is left unsaid.
She flips her pink hair off her shoulders, like a weight is being lifted. No time to stand around, it's time for the goddess-shinki duo to take action.]
Maybe we can sneak inside and wear their uniforms, like we're going undercover in one of those spy movies.
XD If she shows up on missions wearing a sunhat and shades...
...Wait...
[ Tilting his head slightly now because seriously. ]
Don't... people not usually notice we're around anyway?
[ Because hey, people are passing left and right without acknowledging their presence at the moment after all. ]
she needs to look fashionable ok... but this must be a thing
But then as soon as Eno says that, her expression shifts seamlessly from sheer determination to outright embarrassment. Heck, her cheeks are now turning a shade of red.]
O-Oh! Aaah...
[And right as she gawks at him, a couple of random students walk right past the duo, chattering away as if they weren't there in the first place.]
I knew that already! [No, she honestly forgot. Sheryl huffs, folding her arms across her chest with crinkled brows.] It just slipped my mind, that's all!
Totally a thing
We're all pretty new to this god-shinki thing.
[ But he's just smiling himself, lightly patting her shoulder twice -- was he even allowed to do that -- before looking back up at the building. ]
Should we get going? The sooner we get that ring back, the sooner we can make her smile.
[ And this is the moment where he thinks to himself 'I just sounded really cool right now'. ]
no subject
But the moment Eno says those words, she moves her hands away from her face and looks in awe for a moment. Alto would say something similar, wouldn't he? And so would she.
Sheryl straightens her posture and nods, pointing at the building with a sharp gaze.]
Then why are we wasting our time? Let's fulfill that girl's prayer! As your goddess... [With a quick pivot of her heels, she extends a hand out.] I order you to change into your vessel form! Ryuki!
no subject
The minute he does change form though, he feels as if his vision's improved a hundred times over. Each human walking past them, each tiny heartbeat he can see before his eyes as if some strange HUD has been filtered over the entire world.
It's then when he notices a tiny blip in the building. A small spot amidst the beating hearts and auras that seems to be drawing his attention. ]
It's up there. Definitely up there. I'd say... either the third floor or the roof. I can't tell right now.
no subject
Oh, my...
[But the surprise is short lived as she notices a tiny blip on his radar, and she shifts her gaze over to the building.]
Then let's check out the third floor first!
[Clutching on to Eno's vessel form carefully with one hand, Sheryl sprints inside the building, pushing the doors with her elbows and practically bumping into random students on her way to the third floor. It takes a while to find the staircase, but even with high heels, she still manages to climb those stairs rapidly, shortness of breath and footaches be damned.]
Haaah, what a work-out! I don't think I've worked this hard on my exercises.
no subject
He closes his eyes, trying to focus even harder on the item. Even with his eyes closed, he can figure out where they are: through the door, down the hall, up the stairs. As they reach the third floor, he can feel that signal getting stronger and stronger.
Its when she speaks that he finally opens his eyes. ]
Are you okay? Remind me to make you some tea when we get home, alri--
[ But his offer gets cut short when he realizes he's honed in on their target. ]
There! To your right! It's nearby.
no subject
She's quick to reassure her shinki, nodding her head with a firm expression, but there's a glimmer of appreciation in her gaze at his offer.]
Iced tea would be nice, but I'm fine! Climbing up the stairs won't stop Sheryl No—
[Her boast is also cut short at the target, and she's now looking frantic, pushing herself off the wall to run towards her right.]
Nearby? Then let's hurry! [More jogging and looking around] Wait, is it in one of the classrooms?
no subject
There's a pause though as he looks through the hallway. ]
Yeah... it looks to be two rooms away and-- huh.
[ Nope, that's definitely coming from the windowsill. ]
That's a weird place to lose a ring.
no subject
Suddenly she moves Eno just an inch upward, turning to face the windowsill.]
You found it?
[Her eyes squint at the location, noticing a faint sparkle coming from within. Curiosity beckons her to walk towards the windowsill.]
Hey, that is a weird place! How can anyone drop it in there?
no subject
[ No, that doesn't make sense at all. Even if she was leaning forward, it couldn't have slipped off her finger. ]
Maybe someone found it somewhere and placed it here for her to find?
[ That's probably the most logical explanation. But it's still a little concerning. Either way, he doesn't sense anything off about the ring. ]
Should we just take it and go?
no subject
[Just a random hypothesis from Sheryl, but it still doesn't make sense. She nods, carefully plucking the ring between two fingers and lifting it to her face. Such an expensive looking piece of jewelry with an intricate design... she just can't help but look on in awe.]
What you said makes more sense. Anyway, we found it! Let's give it to that girl right away.
no subject
[ so this is how prayers are handled. Who knew? But something comes to mind. ]
If it's okay, I'd like to stay in this form until we get the ring back to its owner. Something tells me that if there's something after that ring, I'll be able to pick it up easier like this.
no subject
[Sheryl puts the ring in her pocket, then shifts the hold on Eno's vessel form so it's a light yet careful grip.]
All right, I trust your judgement, Eno. [A firm nod.] If you find anything strange, then let me know.
no subject
[ He can allow himself to relax for a bit. After all, there doesn't seem to be anything dangerous coming close. Still, can't get too complacent. ]
Until we get that ring back, I'll keep my eyes peeled.
no subject
Good, good! Now don't let me down.
[She gives him a playful wink, then lifts up two fingers from one hand for a victory sign.]
That girl will be waiting for us across the street, so we have to make sure nothing funny happens.
