[closed] i know you love me, i know you care.
Who: Kainé and Sharak Sanzo.
What: Answering a prayer about babies.
Where: Around the near shore, maybe temple.
Why: babies!!!
When: June 1.
Warnings: ba -- okay, no. Language, sex and pregnancy talk. Sigh, suicidal ideation because it's fucking Kainé.
[The bad part about going berserk every now and then -- aside from having to cut down on an already-limited wardrobe, of course -- was that it only seemed to intensify the strain it put on the "fight with me" aspect of being a shinki. Kainé couldn't be sure that was a problem, but... Well, she felt ashamed enough at the possibility. She wouldn't be surprised at all to find out Sharak was sickened by the idea of it. She'd had such a hard time controlling herself... And as far as she could remember, she'd never felt more alive.
So Kainé was content with tabling the discussion, especially since going along for a prayer had been proposed. Not that this was what she'd had in mind at all.]
You shitting me? I mean, it's great that we're really on a roll with helping out the kids, but this isn't exactly something that requires divine intervention. Sounds like all you need to do when we get there is pat the kid on the head and spout some generic bullshit, then boom. Prayer answered. Doesn't feel right.

But she's still concerned, not sickened.]
Aditi is a mother goddess- creation and protection are her responsibilities. [Sharak lectures in monotone as she makes her way down the hill towards the shrine that will lead them to the Near Shore.] Most of the prayers she gets are like this one. Until armageddon, she isn't likely to be called into battle.
[Besides, a little boy prayed for them to please help his mother. He's worried. It's sweet.]
Besides, generic bullshit and comfort are about all the gods are qualified to give. Anything more substantial is the responsibility of humans.
no subject
...Maybe she shouldn't have that kind of memory in mind when going off to meet with this kid. Hmn.]
Funnily enough, we are humans. Haven't done much to earn the title of god and loyal...spirit weapon, or whatever the hell. [Kainé glances over, slowing just before they hit the shrine.] Not complaining about coming along, don't get me wrong.

But there's value in small actions too, you know. His mother probably has her own doctor taking care of any real issues, but that doesn't make her son's concerns any less valid. [Sharak stops at the shrine and looks over her shoulder at Kainé.] There are more battles than those you can fight with an axe or a gun, Kainé.
no subject
...Yeah, yeah.
[It's not like she can deny it. She felt like she was constantly coming up against battles she didn't know how to the hell to fight against, and she was relying on Sharak far more than she was comfortable with. Another battle.]
I'm used to dealing with kids now, anyway. [this is a lie, goten is still a giant mystery to her]
no subject
Great, then you can take the lead.
[Sharak unceremoniously steps through the shrine to teleport to the Near Shore before Kainé can respond.]
no subject
FUCK SHIT DAMN
she could just go home right now. she looks over her shoulder to the temple, suppressing a groan, then shakes her head and follows Sharak out. She dug this grave, she can lie down in it her damn self, not get pushed in by this madwoman. Which is why she does indeed take the lead as soon as she's on the other side, proudly striding forward to where they would find the little boy who had sent up the prayer.
The way he looks up with a wide, relieved smile makes her feel more secure in this decision, even if it's still primarily directed at Sharak, and she lowers herself to a crouch in front of him.]
Hey, [she greets softly, when he asks to confirm who they are. Her smile slips away into complete confusion as he lifts his arms up and repeats the prayer. Aditi-sama, Aditi-sama! Please help the baby in my mommy's tummy stay healthy!]
...Why'd your mom eat her fuckin' baby?
[why did you leave this up to her]
no subject
... This was not a good idea. Sharak's small smile vanishes and she quickly steps forward, putting her hand on Kainé's shoulder as a signal to stop.]
Kainé. Not the time.
[The kid is staring up at them, obviously alarmed.]
no subject
Are you kidding? We've gotta save that kid.
no subject
Shut up. Let me handle this one. [They can work on her confidence some other time.
Sharak moves her hand from Kainé's shoulder to the kid's head.] Don't worry. Your mother is already doing her best to make sure the baby stays healthy. [Boy calms down a little and looks up at Sharak.] Do you want to help her? [Nod nod.] Then make sure she doesn't have to worry about other things while she worries about the baby. Try helping out around the house and looking after yourself for her.
no subject
Brows furrowed, she reaches over to tug the other woman closer by a bunch of her robes, and hisses low.]
Hey.
[LIKE...COME ON. COME ON. CANNIBAL MOTHER???]
no subject
[Back to the kid.] That sound good? [Kid thinks about it and then nods again. "Yes, Aditi-sama. I can make my bed and stuff."] I'm sure your mother and the baby will appreciate that. Now go inside and ask her if she needs help with anything right now.
[Inside to the cannibal mother.]
no subject
Hey.
[Don't ignore her and send this sweet boy into the jaws of the beast! At least Kainé waits until the boy won't hear her before she continues.]
The hell is wrong with you?! Get your fucking gun out! She ate her goddamn baby.
no subject
[What the fuck, Kainé?? This has clearly gone past being a joke. Does Sharak really need to explain this.]
She's pregnant, you idiot, the baby hasn't been born yet!
no subject
Wh... Then how'd the baby get in her fucking stomach if she didn't eat it, huh?
[Like, don't just say nonsense words, explain it!!!]
no subject
... How old are you again?
[If Sharak has ever had a less-than-priestly thought about Kainé over the past couple of weeks, she's regretting it big time now.]
no subject
[WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING... IT'S NOT WEIRD!!!
Okay, no, she's starting to get the sense that something is very, very weird, and it's not on Sharak's side of things. Kainé throws a perplexed look over to the house like that's going to help her sort everything out.]
What kind of old hag knowledge do you think I'm supposed to have here, huh?
no subject
... Kainé, out of curiosity, where do you think babies come from?
no subject
[At least she's not saying "out the ass"?
But, uh. Kainé frowns, because she doesn't really...have much of an answer at the ready. That's awkward. She can feel the frustration clawing away inside of her the longer she struggles to put it into words.]
A mom and dad go someplace when they're ready to have a baby, and they come back with one. [ugh, she feels like a child, having to put it like that.] Look, no one would have trusted someone like me with a fucking kid, I'm sure, so I don't know what it's like there, or anything. Quit giving me shit.
no subject
I'm not talking about this in someone's yard. Let's go back to the temple.

Did Genjo ever have to talk to Goku about this? Maybe she should text him asking for child-rearing tips. Goku turned out great, after all.]
no subject
She doesn't stop when they're through, continuing up the hill stubbornly until she can settle into her favorite spot in the main room, and slouch against the pillows with a grumpy look on her face.]
Alright, great Aditi-sama. Enlighten me, or whatever the bullshit.
[She's so totally open to being wrong about babies.]
no subject
[They're both rude. Sharak sits opposite her shinki, sat primly on a pillow with her legs crossed. How to approach this... Oh, fuck it, Kainé is an adult.]
... Most women carry eggs in their ovaries, located around here. [She gestures her own lower torso, pointing out approximately where all that stuff is.] During certain times in a woman's bodily cycle, individual eggs move from the ovaries to the uterus. If the woman is sexually active with a man during that time, he can fertilise the eggs with his semen. Got it?
no subject
[...Well that was a lot of familiar words mashed up in a way she'd never heard them before. She narrows her eyes at where Sharak was pointing, wheels in her head turning. It's extra distracting to have that small voice in the back of her head mocking her for Sharak's distinction between men and women, when she...
Hn.]
So, what. The place they go to is like our goddamn henhouse?
[eggs...............]
no subject
Metaphorically, sure. But inside a woman's body. [It's a shame they don't have any chicks for teaching purposes.] The fertilised egg grows inside the womb until it becomes a fetus and, if all goes well, an infant child. All just a little below the mother's stomach.
[So no cannibalism required, just banging.]
