Who: Dokugakuji and Alluka

[Dokugakuji hears his first prayer and realizes where it is in the world and gets all of the pertinent information he needs, but it still occurs to him that he wants to talk to Alluka first before they go running off. They don't know each other well and, unlike Meji, he at least has a chance to get to know Alluka better.

So around the the middle of the day, he walks around the little green pastures of his complex with Meji in sword form at his side, looking for his newer shinki.]

Yo! Alluka, you around?

[He knows he can call and get the vessel form, but he'd rather not just summon without the shinki's awareness.]

[For as curious as Alluka is, for as much as the young shinki wants to get out and see anything and everything the world has to offer, there's something about being left to her own devices for too long that puts much of her wanderlust on hold. As such, admiring the strung up lanterns is plenty of an adventure for now, and it makes being located on the temple grounds much easier.]

I'm here...!

[When his calls reach her ears, Alluka moves into view with an enthusiastic wave. Over here! Hello!]

Ah, great, there you are.

[He kind of repeats her words but it's an old habit from being a big brother to not just Gojyo but really Lirin too.]

I heard a prayer today, actually.

[And it doesn't sound dangerous.]

What kinds of prayers did you answer with your other gods?

[Oh, that's exciting, right? Very exciting!]

Um...! Gon took me and my brother to help quiet down a noisy part of town once!

[And... that's it.]

Your brother?

[Alluka, why didn't you say so!! His face says plain as day.]

Well, ah-- we'll go... visit your brother after this is taken care of then!

[Gon must be the god's name... not one he recognizes but then he supposes he wouldn't if her god is gone.]

This shouldn't be too bad either. There's a woman trying to take care of her sick mother and I guess they're trying to pay for the healing services, but it's really expensive. I'm trying to think of some way I can help her out.

[And not at all because he's reluctant to visit a 'sick mother.']

['Because you never asked!']

Really? [Oh, that would be so swell!] Okay! I'd really like that!

[As for the run-down of their prayer,] If it's really expensive, do you think helping pay would work? [It's... not exactly like Alluka really understands what sort of income the gods may have, but that's really the easiest solution, isn't it?] Then it's one less thing to worry about.

Ah, you know, that's not a bad idea... but this is my first prayer, so I actually don't even have much money.

[And he isn't even sure if the Far Shore's money would cover bills in the Near Shore.]

There's got to be some kind of other way to... oh, the supplies for the medicine. I wonder if there's a way we can find the herbs or oils or anything else they need- Ah, no.

[He rubs his neck.]

The bill's already been made out to them. They have to pay this amount.

[And he's not the type to think of just... erasing her name from the records anything like that.]

[Ah, so it was a good idea, until it wasn't. Drat! This is already proving to be quite the challenge of a prayer, isn't it?

Alluka puts on her best thinking face with a quiet 'hmm!', trying to come up with some other means of helping. Less scrupulous measures aren't something that comes to mind naturally for her, though she's never really found herself in a position of being the brains of an operation, either. It's tough! But it's their duty, so there has to besomething they can do!]

What if we ask her what would help? [That would require way less thinking on their part, probably.] Do you think that would work...?

[True, it was a good idea until wasn't.]

That's the simplest solution... [He shrugs.] It's worth a shot! This world's a lot weird than mine so I'm still figuring this out.

[He teleports them into the hospital room, where the woman doesn't even notice them at first. Mercifully for Dokugakuji, the mother must be at some kind of procedure or check-in, because she's not in the room despite the woman being there. Walking up slowly, he places a hand on her shoulder. She flinches - 'Oh I didn't see you there' - when he does so.]

Sorry to bother you. I'm with the hospital - I was asked to talk to you about some options for paying for everything...

[Is it really different for him? That's pretty interesting, Alluka thinks...! She has no idea how different this place is compared to the life she lived, for the most part, any particular strangeness seems to come from what other people expect, but regardless... it's not like the shinki has any memories to work off of! Everything takes a little getting used to.

What is pretty typical by this point is not being noticed by near shore residents right away, and while Dokugakuji plays his hand at acting like one of the hospital workers, Alluka takes a few moments to hang back quietly. One of them is probably more convincing for this role, and it isn't Alluka.]

There should be some way to help.

[The comment is made softly, contemplatively, perhaps a little encouragingly, even.]

[After he speaks, and with Alluka's almost conscience-like voice encouraging the woman to think of some other options, she speaks up again.]

"Well, there's the installment payments, where you pay a little bit at a time, but I'm so nervous I'll forget about them and then-"

[Doku just holds up his hands to try and placate her.]

Wait, so you can pay a little bit at a time? If you're that worried about it, just mark each time you have to on a calendar then.

[She looks like the thought hadn't even occurred to her. Pulling her phone out, she looks at it strangely.]

"You're right, I can mark the due dates on my calendar... And then I'll even get reminders a few days before too!"

[He hadn't been expecting the phone could do something like that, but she'd been given a bit of encouragement, so apparently that was all she needed to keep thinking.]

Well... Good then!

[He gives Alluka a thumbs-up.]

[Oho, it looks like there was some kind of solution to be found after all! That’s a relief, for sure, both for the woman who has to deal with the payments and for the god and shinki pair, for being able to help resolve the woman’s prayer to them.]

That’s much easier than trying to pay it all at once. [Not that Alluka has much concept of how much of a burden such a huge debt could be, even in installations.] So then we’re all done….?

[Unless there’s more to this situation than meets the eye, but that was really the long and short of it, right?]
