I wanna see you pitch! I bet you're amazing at it! [Especially with a couple of other people around often enough to practice with, and all.]

[ He laughs at the compliment. ]

Heh, you’re too much! [ The way he lights up at the prospect of seeing someone pitch is incredibly endearing though. ]

I’m nothing like Mei, though, but I’ll pitch all you want. [ Little does he know that Raichi might indeed be Too Much for him… ]

... Mei? Like, Narumiya Mei?

[That is the first time Sanada's actually said the name of his god, and Raichi's train of thought on just how exciting the idea of training is gonna be sort of takes a pause. They've met! He knows that guy! It might not be the greatest thing that they've met, but they have!]

Yeah! You know him? [ Does that mean he can be proud of Mei for getting along with folks possessing a Y-chromosome??? ]

Or better yet—have you seen him pitch? It’s pretty amazing!

I have! [Is this a good thing? Or not?] He was...

[And, here, he has to stop, and think about what the best way to put the encounter the two of them had is. Part of him wants to jump right to 'full of himself!' but once Sanada brings up his pitching, which Raichi did in fact see to some sort of degree... he can't really deny it. A good pitcher with a disrespectful personality! That's Narumiya Mei!

Rather than finish his initial thought, totally stuck on how to put it (the weird pause might be fairly telling, however), he instead addresses Sanada's other thought.]

I saw him pitch! He was using apples, though. [But he was still ridiculously good.]

[ Honestly, Sanada’s glad that Raichi’s even talking this much, what with all the distracting food around. ]

Apples? [ Okay, the mental image gets him a snicker.

But then he gets a little worried— ] He wasn’t tossing them at you, was he?

Eh? Would he do that?

[The indiscriminate waste of food was one thing, but somehow throwing apples at people is about as shocking of a thought!] He didn't! But would he??

Heh, you worried? [ Imagine—someone getting intimidated by Mei! ]

I don’t think you’d do anything that’d make him hit you like that. [ Little does he know. ]

[So, that means there is a possibility that he might! Not a big one, but that's still a real chance!]

O-okay...! [The assurance is nice, at least. He sounds, perhaps, a little unconvinced, but he'll go with it if Sanada thinks it'd be fine!] I guess he seems like the kind of person that would though!

[Yeah, there, that's an apt description of his thoughts on Mei.]

[ Fair enough. Not like Sanada can deny Mei’s worse qualities anyway. But honestly he’s just tickled at how intimidated Raichi seems. ]

Don’t worry. If that ever happens, I’ll protect you~ [ From Mei the yappy blond Chihuahua. Oh the humanity ]

[At least the same kind of intimidation wouldn't exist when it comes to playing some good old sportsball! But, you know, people in general are just kind of difficult. Socializing. Hard stuff.]

... So cool! [As if he wasn't supposed to find that declaration admirable or something, gosh.] But! I can smash away anything he throws my way!!

[That is, you know, assuming he carries a bat with him at all times? Or maybe just a small vote of confidence that, maybe, just maybe, throwing will only be had at practices.]

Heh, that’s pretty bold of you. I like that. [ And he’s seen how Raichi attacks that meat—er, zombies. He has high hopes for him… ]
