Who: Urashima and you
What: Recovering from a fight, some shinki/sword practice, and a vague attempt at a shopping trip
When: 9-11 June
Where: A park, a shopping mall, and an abandoned temple (Far Shore)

1. I'm going to take a look at the sea for a while... (9 June | the Near Shore)

( On the 9th, a voice message goes out on the network. It's short and simple, albeit, a little vague )

Heh heh… Can someone help me get back home? I got in trouble…

( He attempts to be lighthearted, trying not to worry anyone but there's something in his voice that suggests things aren't exactly okay. His voice is quiet and drags in the way one might talk if they were particularly tired. He also doesn't respond to anyone that asks for more information though, he's managed to attach an off-center picture of some sign and a particular landmark to show where he is. It's a park somewhere in the city, not too far from a shrine or two.

When you arrive, Urashima's on a park bench, laying down on his side with his eyes closed. It looks like he's napping and really, it wouldn't look like much is wrong at all if you saw him in passing. His usual turtle companion rests next to his face beside to a small pile of short needles which suggests he didn't just get sleepy and take a nap. )

2. I wonder if I can use this well~? (General | the Far Shore)

( After he's gotten home and cleaned up and has had a chance to recover, Urashima bounces back fast enough. He's not the type of person to stay grounded for very long and as soon as he's well enough, he's back to his training. This time, he's trying to change it up a bit! Instead of practicing at Hachiman's temple or some other center, he's checking out one of the many abandoned temples on the Far Shore.

There's a sword at his side but he isn't practicing with that right now. Instead, he draws his hand in a stabbing motion and strikes at a tree, cutting one of the branches. )

Huu...

( He makes a face. This isn't really as satisfying as actually cutting something with a blade............. )

3. What're we buying? (Shopping Mall | the Near Shore)

( Urashima's never had to worry about fashion before.

For most of his time in this life, he'd stayed in the Far Shore, only really going out to the Near Shore occasionally. Back then and even now, in these summer months, he'd been able to get away with his more traditional clothes— he was clearly just a kid on his way to local festival or something— but it's a little dated, isn't it? Maybe he should find something else? But where does he even begin?

The answer is the food court where he's just bought himself an ice cream cone. He's feeding "Himechan" one of the strawberries that came with it and just sort of... people watching next to some of the gacha machines. )

Eh... fashion sure is confusing, Himechan...

( Just mumbling as he watches some girls in lolita dress walk behind a group of kids in school uniform... )

I do. ( It would be silly to carry a sword without knowing what to do, right? ) But it's just an ordinary sword....

( Albeit, an incredibly familiar one and and something he treasures very much. )

Mm, all shinki can do it. At least, I've never met a shinki that couldn't...

( If he tosses the rock, it'll just bounce back! Urashima's a good kid-- definitely a squishy cinnamon roll type-- but he's much stronger than he lets on and way more than strong enough to keep out a rock, come on. )

Mmm... it's not really the best but it's how it is, you know? I've heard some shinki can use spells... but I don't know any. If I'm ever in trouble ( which has happened before (recently, even) ) ... I can normally escape and try to find him...

If it's really bad, he'll know too.

[Of course the rock is tossed ... and caught on the rebound. Not a scratch, or even a little chip! How strong was this thing? Xehanort eyes the barrier, then Urashima, shifting his position so when he throws the rock, much harder this time, should something happen to the barrier it'll miss the boy easily.

No point beaning someone with a rock accidentally.]

Even an ordinary sword is a better defense than nothing at all. Not that this is nothing at all of course.

[It's a very interesting shield and he is going to keep testing it until asked otherwise or it breaks; he's not really good at just leaving things ALONE.]

It's good to be able to escape as well though, alongside him being able to tell there's trouble. I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest by way of spells, the few I know aren't very strong at all.

[Though who didn't need a cure spell now and again?]

... If you back up, will that stay where it is? Will it hurt you if it breaks?

[He sounds awfully innocent for someone who intends to smash that barrier with everything he has once he's sure Urashima won't get caught in some kind of backlash.]

Mm, but there are people here who know magic and a normal sword won't work on an ayakashi... ( But Xehanort is right. An ordinary sword is better than nothing at all in some situations but honestly, the reason he likes to carry it is because ) I like using swords, though. My friends say I'm a natural.

( Which makes him feel a little proud. Of course, he doesn't wonder why they think that-- it's somethign to do with his past and he isnt' going to dwell on that. But even if the mind doesn't remember, the body does so he's been able to pick up swordsmanship again easily.

Urashima takes one step back. )

It'll stay where it is until it breaks or I take it down. ( For the latter, he nods once more, ) It doesn't really hurt but I can feel it when it breaks. I can feel it when you hit it too.

( He seemed fine when it was just a rock, at least. )

It might be enough to ward an ayakashi off for a short time. Or another attacker, after all not all threats are those sorts of monsters. If you like swords, stick with it! Maybe a magic sword, or a way to enchant one, can be found or made eventually, and then you'll have the best of both worlds.

[When he hits the barrier, only after making sure Urashima's a bit out of the way, it's full-force. He can put an alarming amount power behind a blow ... but it's probably not going to be enough to do anything to it.

'It doesn't really hurt' is the important part.]

I can't make much suggestions on normal magic, I know a few spells but they're fairly low on the power scale. I can't imagine it'd be enough to do more than annoy an ayakashi.

( It'll definitely take more than a few rocks to break Urashima's boundary. He might not be the strongest shinki on the block but he's been around long enough to at least be able to hold his own. When Xehanort mentions magic, though, he looks a little anxious. Wait... )

Are you going to use magic?

( To break through? He's never tried to hold up against anything like that before. )

[Xehanort hesitates, eyeing the boundary. Urashima's trepidation doesn't really affect his decisions any, after all if it held up to THAT, a measly fireball wasn't going to do anything either.]

The only magic I know with any significant power is probably not a good idea to use here. And if that barrier could hold up against what I did a moment ago, what is a little fireball going to do?

[That's a 'no', likely.

( A sigh! A great, relieved sigh that he isn't going to have to hold himself up against any icicles or thunder blasts. )

Right... is it okay to stop, now? It gets a little tiring after awhile...

( And he's been training all day already )

[Not YET. He can't manage those spells. Or could, but is so out of practice from another lifetime that he simply doesn't recall how.

...If he did he'd probably try it out.]

... Yes. I'd like to try some other things but I can ask Lilka for help now that I have a better idea of what's going on. Thank you.

[Or maybe get someone ELSE to throw spells at a barrier. Could a shinki destroy their own that way?]

( With another sigh, the lit line disappears. It feels like he's just finished taking a stressful test and he can relax again. )

Lilka? ( He tilts his head to one side, ) Ah, is that your shinki? You found them?!

I did. She's not often around much but ..

[In fact he hadn't seen her since the beach meeting. Well, he did tell her to take as much time as she needed..]
