[ Outside the Temple ]

The temple is located deep inside a heavily forested part of the heavens. Outside of the temple is littered with overgrown plants and roots and crumbling rocks and rubble. Most of it seems undisturbed and serene like no one has been this way in hundreds of years. Occasionally monkey and spider spirits can be seen crawling over cracked pillars or hiding in dark corners. Looking around you might find pictures of nameless faces etched into stone or old brass and copper coins under rocks or in the dirt. Beware of pitfalls.

[ Outer Sanctum ]

Immediately inside the temple is the Outer Sanctum which is filled with spots of sunlight. The place glitters with light from the sun trickling in from the broken and cracked roof. Pillars and walls gleam with jewels and precious stones ripe for the taking. If certain gems are disturbed you might hear slight rumblings in the distance or the floor might shake but nothing else of interest happens.

If you stay here long enough you might hear the chirping of bird spirits but there are none in sight. The birds will chatter and whisper in your ear with sing song tunes. Call back to them and they might just swoop and attack you. If killed they turn into sapphires.

[ Left Wing ]

The left wing is dark and many doors are locked or set with traps. Broken furniture litters the wing like a massive fight happened here. Dust settles on everything like a thick fog. If you enter some of the rooms you will find libraries and study halls. Most of the books crumble into dust when you touch them. There are tapestries all along the walls of a young Amaterasu. They can be taken off the walls and do not crumble like the books do. The ones that might catch your eye are the ones depicting her hiding in a cave from dark looming figures.

Dig enough through these rooms and you might find some strange trinkets:

- A branch that shakes when it is going to rain soon
- A jar of yellow ink that slowly turns black over several days
- A small leather book with several names of hafuri shinki inside
- A brass lamp engraved with a map of the heavens in ancient times when lit
- A leather bracer that gives you monstrous claws when worn
- A ring which if you put on you can’t remove but your godly power seems slightly enhanced

[ Right Wing ]

The right wing makes it hard for you to breathe inside. Some sort of shade or haze fills these halls and your head starts to hurt the longer you stay in this wing. The rooms that you find are all open and no door is locked but there are several puzzles to be found. You will find abandoned weaponry rooms and storage rooms. The strangest room you might find is the room filled with opened and empty human caskets. Many jars and old boxes scatter the halls in which some of them are broken some of them are intact.

Dig enough through these rooms and you might find some strange trinkets:

- A necklace with red jewels that seems to slightly enhance shinki borderlines
- An amulet set with a carved carnelian that makes you feel warm when you wear it
- A sealed box with no openings that sounds like there might be bugs crawling around inside
- A pouch with several mix matched diamond and gold earrings inside
- A golden statue in the shape of a praying Amaterasu
- A katana with no sheath that is broken and chipped but has a gold chain wrapped around it

[ Inner Sanctum ]

First you are met with a giant set of sealed doors that seem nearly impossible to open. The doors are covered with ancient characters that are unreadable unless you have a way to decipher it. The doors seem immovable by normal strength or magic and only by god or shinki powers once you are lucky enough to stumble on this fact or have a way to read the doors. Once you find this fact or have a way to read the messages, use a god or shinki power (of any sort) and the doors will slowly crack open to a dark Inner Sanctum.

The Inner Sanctum is one large chamber with several chairs and a large table in the center. There are melted down candles everywhere. Inside you find absolutely nothing else of interest. Hope you didn’t spend too much time trying to get the doors open, Wanderer. But does this mean someone got here before you?

Someone with a keen eye might notice the small box tucked away somewhere. Inside the box is a large glowing amethyst. If it is removed the monkey spirits outside the temple will attack everyone on sight.

[Felicia just giggled and followed along, easily tip-toeing her way across and being extra careful to stay aware of her surroundings as she followed Lara into the temple itself.]

Sturdy and well kept, for being empty.

[She added, looking around the interior in her fascination. She didn't know much about temples yet, but the interior of this one seemed like it could still hold up to proper use with barely more than a little love put into sweeping the place up.]

[Lara moves along slowly, head swiveling from side to side, taking in all the details and committing them to memory. Her hand never strays too far from her ax, but the deeper in they get the more she seems to relax. No traps, no spikes, nothing like that...]

It doesn't seem like there's too much to worry about, too. This was clearly a place someone either lived or used daily. Doubtful there will be any booby traps.

[She almost asks if Felicia's ever been in a place like this, but catches herself and mentally chides herself for it.]

I think that Sora and his friends have picked through a lot, but maybe we can head into the inner chambers and see what we can find. What do you think?
maidhem: (teasing)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-19 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds like a good idea.

[Felicia grinned as she spoke, clearly in a chipper mood despite the fact that she openly carried her knives in easy access for this particular trip. She didn't seem particularly worried about this adventure, and was looking around at everything in the building in the curious manner of a tourist rather than that of a researcher.]

Honestly? It might really be pretty fun to see what all's in there.

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-02-19 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we're probably not far. The temple wasn't too large on the outside.

[Lara plods along happily, slipping down passages and corridors until eventually they arrive at a large door. The one to the Inner Sanctum. Immediately her eyes fall on a series of pictograms, and she frowns.]

Looks like a puzzle. I can't make it out though. I recognize some of the characters, but I need more to go on.

See anything around?
maidhem: (bwuuuuhhh)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-20 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Puzzles-- of course there were puzzles. Where was the excitement if they could just enter the Inner Sanctum without there being some sort of challenge blocking it?

Felicia astutely looked around the corridor, searching for anything that might help them.]

...It looks like there's brackets on the walls that could hold lanterns, or torches.

[She said after a minute, looking further down a darkened corridor near them as far as she could in the dim lighting. Surely, there had to be something there to help them.]

[Lara rose from the pictograms and walked over to where Felicia was standing, looking at the torch holders.]

You know, maybe we'd see better if...actually. No.

[Reaching into her belt she pulled out a pair of chemical lights and cracked one before handing it to Felicia.]

Shake that up and look around more. I'm sure there's something here. A keystone or a hint. I just...call it an instinct.
maidhem: (battle)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-21 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Instinct?

[Felicia looked up at Lara with curious eyes before glancing away, brows furrowing in thought as she shook the chemical lantern alive so she could see further in the darkness.]

You mean like how I know to be careful of ninjas? [She asked absently, panning the light across the walls in search of something that stood out amidst the ancient masonry.]

Or...is it closer to how you can throw knives the same way I do by just watching me practice?
adventurology: <user name=yevon> (Default)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-02-21 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Something like you and ninjas. I can just feel these sorts of things.

[Lara chuffs a laugh at the comment about knives.]

The knife thing is something else. That's the ability that Heaven gave me when I came here. I can mimic anything I can see. Back home, I'd have to train the same as you or anyone else.

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-23 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's a really handy talent to have, [She commented, smiling.] It must make it really easy to learn new things!

[Like languages, or skills, or how to do wheelies in a semi if need be. It'd be a lie to say that she wasn't a little envious of Lara's fortune-- but, she didn't mind the work of learning the way she did, either. It was way more fun than just watching and knowing, even if she did make a mess of things in the process.]

I'll keep looking for something like a ninja, okay? Maybe that'll help us find something!
adventurology: (Mirror)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-02-23 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Lara only smiles, nodding acknowledgement before going back to her search. There had to be something around here. A keystone, some sort of something. More writing would help piece together the puzzle, she hoped. And something told her it wasn't far.]
maidhem: (determined)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-25 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Stepping down the corridor, Felicia shown the torchlight upon the walls in her search for something that made a degree of sense in this ancient temple.]

--I think I've found something!

[She called after a few moments, holding the torch high in the air and stepping closer to study it further.]

....It looks like it's some kind of riddle!
adventurology: (Patience Please)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-02-25 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
A riddle, huh?

[Lara stopped her own search, walking over and lifting her chemical light up to inspect the writing. It wasn't terribly complicated, not ultimately.]

Actually, this...is what I was looking for. I can take the letters I already know, and...

[She's quiet for several minutes, running her finger along each line of the carving Felicia's found...and after that she turns to look at the entrance.]

It can't be...
maidhem: (off guard)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-27 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
...What did you find?

[Felicia had been trying to decipher a little herself, given the scraps of writing she did understand and what she knew of the culture. It was precious little-- but, she wanted to help Lara as best as she could.

Even if that ultimately just being a support. Sometimes a support was more important than a helping hand.]
adventurology: (Gasp!)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-02-27 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
The answer.

[Lara walks over to the tablet she couldn't read before and taps it with her fingernail.]

How could I be so stupid. It's...hah. It's a temple to the gods. And it's saying 'Only the penitent may pass.'

[She's about to start kneeling, because she's seen Indiana Jones, but no sooner than the words leave her mouth than the door swings open.]

Well then.
maidhem: (blizzard)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-02-28 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
[--That was rather easy, Felicia noted. Her mind didn't even touch upon the possibility of it being 'too easy' as she overed by Lara's side with questions in her eyes as she stared through the new entry.]

What would the god of this temple want to repent, though? Do we know what kind of god this temple belonged to?
adventurology: <user name=yevon> (Curious)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-02-28 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
We don't. I intend to do some investigating though. And honestly...

[Poking her head into the chamber, Lara blinks and trails off. It's...]

Empty. Basically empty. Maybe someone beat us here?
maidhem: (questioning)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-03-01 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know...

[Although, there was no denying that the room itself was empty, Felicia still had some lingering doubts.]

Is it really that easy to be penitent over something you don't even know? How many people would have gotten this far in before us?
adventurology: <user name=yevon> (Empathetic)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-03-01 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it has anything to do with actual penitence. Just saying the words seemed to be enough.

[Lara starts poking around further, until she spots something hidden in a wall]

Hello...what's this?
maidhem: (jiiiiii)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-03-03 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
...What did you find?

[Curious as a bird, Felicia was right near Lara when she made her discovery-- she just had no idea what she was looking at.]
adventurology: <user name=yevon> (Default)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-03-03 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it looks like a box.

[Bending, she slides it out and pulls off the lid. Revealing...an amethyst. That's pretty weird. But...]

It's glowing huh? Well what do you make of that!
Edited 2017-03-03 04:26 (UTC)
maidhem: (jiiiiii)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-03-06 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
...Does that mean it's magical?

[Felicia was peering over Lara's shoulder as she revealed the contents of the box, eyes widening for a moment before she pulled back and started fumbling in her pockets for a notepad and pen.]

This is something we should make a note of, right? Or, do we take it and show someone? Or do we leave it?
adventurology: (Come Now)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-03-06 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Magical? That...could be it.

[Lara struggled a little bit with the phrase, because...magic. That was still weird, even though she'd been reading books on spellcraft and had seen it in action.]

I'm not qualified to say what this really is, or isn't. So we should take it, and see if anyone can identify it.
maidhem: (questioning)

[personal profile] maidhem 2017-03-09 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's a good idea.

[If it indeed was a magical artifact, then they certainly didn't want to leave it and allow it to fall into the hands of someone who would use it to bring harm to others. That would be....problematic.]

...Do you know who we could ask? Or should we ask around about it?
adventurology: <user name=yevon> (Adventurous)

[personal profile] adventurology 2017-03-09 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I have a few ideas, yeah. For now though, let's get a move on.
