[open] Look for the bare necessities~
Who: OPEN OPEN OPEN
What: People teaming up to check out a giant abandoned temple and look for hidden treasure, clues or just want to get into some trouble
Where: An abandoned temple ruin in the heavens
When: June 13
Warnings: TBA
Note: This is a create-a-top-level or open/closed prompts or tag around log (mod approved!) it was first mentioned on this post!
[ Outside the Temple ]
The temple is located deep inside a heavily forested part of the heavens. Outside of the temple is littered with overgrown plants and roots and crumbling rocks and rubble. Most of it seems undisturbed and serene like no one has been this way in hundreds of years. Occasionally monkey and spider spirits can be seen crawling over cracked pillars or hiding in dark corners. Looking around you might find pictures of nameless faces etched into stone or old brass and copper coins under rocks or in the dirt. Beware of pitfalls.
[ Outer Sanctum ]
Immediately inside the temple is the Outer Sanctum which is filled with spots of sunlight. The place glitters with light from the sun trickling in from the broken and cracked roof. Pillars and walls gleam with jewels and precious stones ripe for the taking. If certain gems are disturbed you might hear slight rumblings in the distance or the floor might shake but nothing else of interest happens.
If you stay here long enough you might hear the chirping of bird spirits but there are none in sight. The birds will chatter and whisper in your ear with sing song tunes. Call back to them and they might just swoop and attack you. If killed they turn into sapphires.
[ Left Wing ]
The left wing is dark and many doors are locked or set with traps. Broken furniture litters the wing like a massive fight happened here. Dust settles on everything like a thick fog. If you enter some of the rooms you will find libraries and study halls. Most of the books crumble into dust when you touch them. There are tapestries all along the walls of a young Amaterasu. They can be taken off the walls and do not crumble like the books do. The ones that might catch your eye are the ones depicting her hiding in a cave from dark looming figures.
Dig enough through these rooms and you might find some strange trinkets:
- A branch that shakes when it is going to rain soon
- A jar of yellow ink that slowly turns black over several days
- A small leather book with several names of hafuri shinki inside
- A brass lamp engraved with a map of the heavens in ancient times when lit
- A leather bracer that gives you monstrous claws when worn
- A ring which if you put on you can’t remove but your godly power seems slightly enhanced
[ Right Wing ]
The right wing makes it hard for you to breathe inside. Some sort of shade or haze fills these halls and your head starts to hurt the longer you stay in this wing. The rooms that you find are all open and no door is locked but there are several puzzles to be found. You will find abandoned weaponry rooms and storage rooms. The strangest room you might find is the room filled with opened and empty human caskets. Many jars and old boxes scatter the halls in which some of them are broken some of them are intact.
Dig enough through these rooms and you might find some strange trinkets:
- A necklace with red jewels that seems to slightly enhance shinki borderlines
- An amulet set with a carved carnelian that makes you feel warm when you wear it
- A sealed box with no openings that sounds like there might be bugs crawling around inside
- A pouch with several mix matched diamond and gold earrings inside
- A golden statue in the shape of a praying Amaterasu
- A katana with no sheath that is broken and chipped but has a gold chain wrapped around it
[ Inner Sanctum ]
First you are met with a giant set of sealed doors that seem nearly impossible to open. The doors are covered with ancient characters that are unreadable unless you have a way to decipher it. The doors seem immovable by normal strength or magic and only by god or shinki powers once you are lucky enough to stumble on this fact or have a way to read the doors. Once you find this fact or have a way to read the messages, use a god or shinki power (of any sort) and the doors will slowly crack open to a dark Inner Sanctum.
The Inner Sanctum is one large chamber with several chairs and a large table in the center. There are melted down candles everywhere. Inside you find absolutely nothing else of interest. Hope you didn’t spend too much time trying to get the doors open, Wanderer. But does this mean someone got here before you?
Someone with a keen eye might notice the small box tucked away somewhere. Inside the box is a large glowing amethyst. If it is removed the monkey spirits outside the temple will attack everyone on sight.

Well, by all means, give it a go.
[Because other than an unreadable panel, there wasn't much else to go on.]
no subject
He then holds out his hands and touches the door. There's a faint glow and then it fades. Sora pushes but it doesn't budge.]
.... Uh, that's a first.
[Sora's been able to open every door ever. So why not this one? He pushes again, really hard this time--- and the door cracks open with Sora toppling inside.]
Ahh!!
no subject
You're alright, ya?
no subject
...Yep. Nothing cracked. We're good.
[Standing, Sora looks around too and lets out an impressed whoa...]
This room is gigantic!
[And kind of dark and hard to see anything.]
no subject
And...kind of empty.
no subject
As soon as Sora can see more he walks forward and pouts a little.]
... Looks like a giant empty meeting room. Where's all the neat treasure?!
no subject
Not every room is going to have...
[Lara stop suddenly.]
...hello there. Sora, turn 'round, look in the cubby just behind your feet.
no subject
[At first Sora lifts a foot and looks down before he turns around properly. What he sees there is the indent that Lara pointed out.]
Hey, there is something here!
[He looks excited again as he leans down and shoves his hand right in without being cautious. He feels around and pulls out some sort of sealed box. It's small and fits in his hand.]
no subject
Well go on, open it.
no subject
Sora rips the little box open to reveal a large purple amethyst. It seems to be glowing.]
Wow...
no subject
And she sort of absently mumbles to herself:]
Amethyst? But...why's it glowing? Some sort of charge?
[A beat.]
We should take that with us. To study it closer.
no subject
[Sora takes Lara's hand and puts it there. After all, she's the one who spotted the little nook where the treasure was hiding.]
If it was locked behind that big door in the middle of this temple it has to mean something important. Do you know anyone who knows about magic rocks? I could ask my god-father. He knows a lot about different magic.
no subject
[Running her fingers along the surface, she shrugged.]
Your god-father would be best suited for it. So, let's get it back out of here. I don't think we'll find much more interesting than that.
no subject
[Sora nods as he makes one more visual sweep of the room. He's still kind of disappointed there wasn't much in here.]
Alright, that's all she wrote. Let's head back outside and check on the others.
no subject
[There's not much there? DUDE there's a freaking glowy crystal right there!]
Sounds good though. Best not to tarry.
no subject
He nods and heads for the exit.
Little do they know there is a rumbling somewhere nearby.]
no subject
And into a literal shitstorm. Right?]
no subject
Sora suddenly yelps as he ducks a flying chuck of debris that shatters against the stone wall near his head.]
What the!! What's going on!
[By instinct Sora summons his keyblade and readies himself. It's gonna get messier.]
no subject
[Lara blinks, looks at Sora, and shakes her head.]
Too many! We just need to run. And run fast. If we stay here, we’ll be overwhelmed.
[And with that, she takes off, arms up to shield her face from flying…well…everything.]
no subject
[Sora has no choice but to yell and follow Lara, quick as a bunny. That's because the monkeys are throwing everything from rocks to tree branches to-]
AHHH!!
[Poop. It's poop.
Sora just barely dodges a handful of it. What's going on? The monkeys were so nice before! No arguing comes from Sora for the running plan. He jumps over a fallen stone pillar and ducks into the trees for cover.]
I don't want to hurt any of them!! Even if...!!!
no subject
Then don't! Just run! Make for that stream we crossed, as fast as you can!
no subject
[Sora has no time to be amazed at how quick Lara is. He runs too, following her path from where he had ducked into some trees. He skids and jumps over another pile of rubble and makes a mad dash when it happens---
SPLAT!
It hits him right in the back.]
UAAAAHGHHHH!!!
[Sora screams and now he's half crying as he beelines for the stream. Yeah, he's gonna dunk his whole body in there as soon as they sprint close enough.]
