Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!



Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.



Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[Ken stares for a moment, then huffs.] That sounds stupid, byon.

[This sums up multiple things, such as 'your name is long and that annoys me', and 'I don't know what an exemplar is and that annoys me', and 'you have zero expression and that annoys me'. It's a succinct summation of Ken's feelings on the whole matter.]

[kokuyoyo]

[Because this is clearly a mature debate-]

You're stupid.

[And he's not wrong. But- not for the usual reasons this time around. Instead, sighing, he begins to shuffle forward. At least with this, he feels a little more confident in. It makes him feel better.]

Do you know what we're supposed to do as shinki...?

[junkyarddog]

Yeah, well, your hat's dumb! [Ken, we do not diss the hat.] It's not even winter, byon!

[He jams his hands into his pockets, scowling a little at the question. This scowl is usually code for "I'm not sure and I'm pissed that I'm being called on it".] We're weapons, right? [That should be correct, it's certainly what Axel told him, but Chikusa asking has him wondering if that's not a sufficient answer.]

[kokuyoyo]

Doesn't matter.

[He will fight you over this hat, Ken. Literally, him and Axel got into it with another god over another hat, this is stupid.]

[...Still. Ken's not wrong on that one, and Chikusa shifts his head in a slight nod.]

For Axel-sama to defeat particular creatures.... and you just biting them will be useless.

[junkyarddog]

[Ken's scowl deepens at that.] Biting's what I'm good at, byon! [A pause.] And clawing. And smashing.

[kokuyoyo]

I was there. I could see what you did...

[It'd be impressive if there was anyone who didn't, but, whatever. He shakes his head.]

But it's useless fighting what Axel-sama is supposed to fight. Has Axel-sama called your other name yet?

[Probably not- Axel is weirdly considerate like that.]

What the hell is Axel-sama fighting, anyway? [Ken hadn't started calling him Axel-sama yet, before he heard Chikusa use it. But he starts using it without thinking now; it feels natural.

The remark about Ken's other name just leaves him looking completely baffled.] What other name?

[kokuyoyo]

[Axel.... Chikusa would say that he hopes one day Axel gets adjusted to this, but that'd be a lie. Having just one other shinki to compete with is frustrating enough, and just feeling that is way too much for someone like Chikusa who is regularly attempting to murder his own emotions.]

[And anyway- maybe this can go in his favor. If he shows what a good responsible exemplar he is teaching the new one, maybe he won't get tossed aside. It's a nice thought. So he looks around idly, almost as if he won't answer Ken's question, before he finally raises a hand and points to one of the shinki in white bustling by.]

Look at their hand...

[They'll address that first, out of the two questions. If Ken obeys, he'll be able to see a kanji emblazoned on the passerby shinki.]

[Ken looks where directed, and frowns a bit. He sees the tattoo, he just...doesn't get what it has to do with literally anything.] The tattoo...? [He says this in a tone that suggests he already guesses this is somehow wrong, but he can't imagine what else he's meant to be noticing.

Interestingly, Ken is completely unaware of the name emblazoned on his own throat. He hasn't yet seen himself in a mirror.]

[Funnily enough, Ken wouldn't be the first person Chikusa now knows who's had his name on his throat. At least "beast" is a little more optimistic than "curse".]

All shinki have one... including you, Juuki.

[He wonders if Ken will realize, from that, that his mark is in a really obvious place, or if he will think Chikusa is a witch (or just talked to Axel).]

[Ken doesn't figure it out, but he doesn't immediately decide that Chikusa is a magician, either. He narrows his eyes at him, looking unsure and displeased about that.] What do I need a second name for, anyway?

[Odds are he hasn't necessarily guessed that his mark is visible or that Axel told Chikusa; he just hasn't bothered thinking about how Chikusa knows at all, and is taking it for granted.]

When we're called "weapons".... it's meant literally.

[Well. Sort of literally. A yoyo can be a weapon, something Chikusa apparently must have decided on his own at some point when he was alive, but it generally isn't, and his vessel form certainly isn't that kind of yoyo anyway.]

[But, glancing over Ken again, Chikusa decides that would probably be too much detail for him. That, too, makes him feel better. If he's smarter, than that means he's still useful in some way, can fill a gap and not be replaced.]

When Axel-sama calls that second name... We become his weapons.

[junkyarddog]

[This is too abstract a concept for Ken to grasp without a more descriptive explanation, and his frown only deepens.] What're you talking about?

[To be fair to Ken, the idea of a person being able to become a literal weapon on command is pretty out there, and Chikusa hasn't really detailed the central conceit he needs to grasp.]

[kokuyoyo]

[ S I G H ]

He calls my name. I physically transform into an object. There's a lot of light involved.

When he's done using me, he calls my regular name, and I turn back. That's how it is for all shinki.

[He adjusts his glasses, the glass catching the light.]

Which includes you.

[junkyarddog]

You can turn into something else? [Now Ken's intrigued, and he actually reaches out and prods Chikusa, as if testing that he feels normal. He does.] What do you turn into?

[Then, after a momentary pause - ] What do I turn into?

[kokuyoyo]

[While he could move away from the prodding, Chikusa doesn't bother, and just looks long suffering instead. That's easier]

You'll find out what you turn into when Axel-sama uses you for the first time. It could be anything... [A lazy half hearted shrug that seems to be using as little energy as possible.] I'm a yoyo.... others are clothing, or swords...

[junkyarddog]

[It takes a second...but then Ken's grinning, eyes gleaming.] You turn into a yoyo?

[kokuyoyo]

[Why does he feel like mistakes have been made... Chikusa debates defending himself- he's a yoyo that can create knockout gas after all- but just lets out another breath and gives up.]

[The afterlife is too short.]

I just said that....

[junkyarddog]

[Ken's snickering openly now.] That's dumb, byon.

[kokuyoyo]

[Yep, mistakes were made.]

[And because the Kokuyo Gang were raised as proper and polite children who absolutely carry that with them into the afterlife, Chikusa just quietly pulls out, indeed, a red yoyo from his pocket. He starts to perform idle tricks, making various shapes using the string and his fingers.]

[And he waits until Ken is suitably distracted enough before suddenly twisting his wrist and hopefully smacking him in the face with the end.]

You're dumb.

[junkyarddog]

[It goes down exactly the way Chikusa probably played it out in his head. Ken's actually getting interested in the neat movements and the deftness with which Chikusa manipulates the yoyo when it promptly smacks him in the forehead.

The sound he makes is loud, angry, and offended.] Hey! [And he makes a grab for the yoyo.]

[kokuyoyo]

[By the time Ken recovers and is grabbing for the yoyo, Chikusa has it snapped back into his palm and straightens up to his full height so that he can stretch his arm up into the air.]

[Yes. Yes he is abusing his absurd height in the most immature fashion.]

[junkyarddog]

[Bitch do you think Ken is mature and reserved enough not to try to climb you like a tree because by Axel he'll do it

Which is to say that he's already in the process of doing it, using a hand on Chikusa's shoulder to boost him up to try and reach.] How come you're so damn tall?!

[kokuyoyo]

Because-

[There's no actual, now, just grunting, because what the fuck Ken. Chikusa starts to reach up with his other hand before he realizes: you know what's easier than shoving a face?]

[Falling.]

[So enjoy this tall douchebag nerd letting the weight of you carry both of your dumb asses straight to the ground, Ken, and he is absolutely making you hit the ground first unless you get off.]

[There are dual problems with this plan, Chikusa.

One, you are a tall child, and thus you have some distance to fall.

Two, Ken has the reflexes of an animal. As soon as he feels Chikusa's center of balance shift inevitably forward, he's swearing and springing away, leaving Chikusa to topple like a felled tree all by himself.

Where, knowing Chikusa, he'll probably lay until the earth swallows him or Axel comes to fetch them, whichever comes first.]
