014 | A Whole New World

Who: Everyone!
What: Exploring the world
When: All day June 26
Where: The Near Shore (All Over)
Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!

The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.

Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Destruction

Whether you return early because of boredom, never left because you're uninterested, or late because you've been having fun, the middle of the night will bring an interesting sight to all. The Heavens will find themselves under attack - in the form of a large fire set at the temple of Amaterasu herself. The entire home is going up in flames and no one knows where Amaterasu is. They're asking for help in dousing the fire or even entering the burning home to find the small goddess and possibly look for the saboteurs, though the only people who are still around are Amaterasu's shinki, in varying states of distress and consciousness.

Note: Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

In Summary:
  • Explore the world
  • Get to know your homelands
  • Investigate insurgents
  • Deal with a riot
  • Save Amaterasu
  • Have fun~

[Well, Forrest didn't correct him, so Doku assumes this really is a river spirit.]

Thought you might like to know, that's all. Don't worry if you don't recognize me - I'm new around here, and I got spread a little far out... India, China, and Japan. But if you need me to come back around and help with something, my four shinki and I can probably make a day trip out of it?

It's all right. It's my first time visiting here as well.

[Forrest smiles, nodding.]

It certainly couldn't hurt to try.
royaltyloyalty: (confused)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-03-31 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Eh? First time? You're not the spirit of the river?

[He has to believe that, attire aside, a river spirit would talk much more in the vein of having always been in a place and maybe only recently took a form or something along those lines. Maybe. That's why he asked.]

Who are you then?
clothes_make_the_man: (eheheh)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-01 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm? No.

[Forrest blinks, seemingly just as surprised as he is.]

My name is Forrest, the current replacement for the goddess Lakshmi.
royaltyloyalty: (nice one)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-03 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Wait... Saying it like that, so you're from the Far Shore? I'm an... incarnation too, they said. Ksitigarbha.

[But he rubs his head a little bit and decides to close the distance a little bit, hands on his hips as he tries to appraise Forrest a bit more. Not quite as slight as Nanako as far as Gods go, but still on the fragile side as far as his burly self is concerned.]

Well. Real name's Dokugakuji, anyway.
clothes_make_the_man: (eheheh)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-03 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... yes, that's right. I should have made that clearer before.

[Forrest smiles in embarrassment. He's definitely fragile looking. He's also glad he doesn't have to stumble through Doku's god name, though his real name is only slightly less complicated sounding.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, then.

[He waves one hand dismissively.]

I normally don't think about that so much, but today they've got us on these official trips all around of course, so it got me thinking harder about that kinda stuff.

[He gets a bit more jovial when he can relax around another God That's Not A God.]

Don't know Lakshmi though... cares a lot about rivers?
clothes_make_the_man: (small smile)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-07 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
She was born from the waters, so there's a strong association there. But in general, the Ganges River is sacred to the Hindu pantheon as a whole.

[He's been doing his homework. Trying to be a good replacement and all.]

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-10 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Meanwhile he definitely hasn't. Not as much as Forrest has, at any rate. He went specifically to Ksitigarbha. Still, he nods in understanding.]

Makes sense, then. Where'd you find that out, then? Not like they gave us much to go on at the last gods gathering thing. Conclave.

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-10 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I've done some studying on the Hindu pantheon since arriving here. I thought it would be good to know a little about the goddess I'm filling in for.
royaltyloyalty: (smile)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-16 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
I tried to do that for Ksitigarbha, but there's not that much.

[ He didn't look quite that hard. ]

Must be Lakshmi's more popular.
clothes_make_the_man: (small smile)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-17 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She does seem to be one of the more popular gods in the pantheon, along with Vishnu.

What does Ksitigarbha represent?

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-20 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)

Hellbound souls and... kids. I don't understand it at all.

[Which is a little true, but he also doesn't feel like bringing up that mention of 'abortions' he saw once.]

Point is I can go to Hell and bring souls back, apparently. Just gotta get the opening doorways part down.

clothes_make_the_man: (frown)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-21 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Forrest's eyes go wide for a moment as he considers that.]

Does that mean you could help shinki regain their former lives?
royaltyloyalty: (considering)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-22 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)

Hm?

[Doku thinks about the question longer.]

I don't think so? Their souls aren't in Hell, are they?

clothes_make_the_man: (frown)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-22 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... yes, I suppose you're right.
royaltyloyalty: (inverted)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-24 03:02 am (UTC)(link)

... Or did you lose someone in particular?

[He's not sure he sufficiently answered the young man's question and he's not trying to purposefully avoid helping if - if he's able.]

clothes_make_the_man: (nervous)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-24 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... sort of. My aunt is here as a shinki, which means she must have died. I just hate to think that her life was cut short so suddenly like that.
royaltyloyalty: (considering)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-04-29 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. And you don't wanna ask her god what he or she saw? You know, when they named her.
clothes_make_the_man: (distressed)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-04-29 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to know, but I'd like it more if she could still be alive and happy in our world.
royaltyloyalty: (inverted)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-05-01 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah...

[As someone who's pretty sure he's dead in his own world...]

I hear that. If you're ever interested in goin' down there just to take a look around, I wouldn't mind that either. Who knows what I'd find.

clothes_make_the_man: (small smile)

[personal profile] clothes_make_the_man 2017-05-02 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I may take you up on that.
royaltyloyalty: (smile)

[personal profile] royaltyloyalty 2017-05-05 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Alright.

[He gives a little salute.]

Until then!

[And he teleports off to keep looking around the area.]
