Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!



The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.



Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Destruction

Whether you return early because of boredom, never left because you're uninterested, or late because you've been having fun, the middle of the night will bring an interesting sight to all. The Heavens will find themselves under attack - in the form of a large fire set at the temple of Amaterasu herself. The entire home is going up in flames and no one knows where Amaterasu is. They're asking for help in dousing the fire or even entering the burning home to find the small goddess and possibly look for the saboteurs, though the only people who are still around are Amaterasu's shinki, in varying states of distress and consciousness.

Note: Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

Doesn't mean they won't have new tricks, though... [But that much was obvious.] Should I take precautions? [Singular because he doesn't want to encourage Shun to do more things while he looks like that.]

Of course not. [It was definitely obvious, given the tone Shun takes in replying to that observation. When it comes to the issue of precautions, though, Shun lets out a somewhat frustrated breath.]

Stay on your guard, but it's hard to take effective precautions without knowing what it is that's going to happen. And there's not much that's effective against all kinds of potential attack.

[There's that tone of familiarity again.]

Not those kinds of preparations. [Mental preparation, like uh...........resting. (Fubuki may or may not be looking away shiftily when he says it.) He gets the impression that being constantly alert would wear someone out, but, what with the familiar way Shun says these things, he supposes it depends on circumstances. Fubuki's known for a long time that he wasn't someone who really dealt with this kind of thing.]

But I'll keep an eye out. [When he'd said precautions, keeping an eye out was all he'd meant, and he hadn't stopped to wander how naive that would sound. Yet somehow he gets the oddly confident sensation that if something happened, he could fight through. He...has no idea what that implies about himself.]

... Should I do something to protect the temple? [If someone teleported in, that'd be one thing, but if they don't or can't...]

I'm not going to stop you if you want to prepare in your own way. [There's a slight, but noticeable emphasis on the you there, because Shun definitely picked up on that momentary shiftiness, and he has his suspicions on what Fubuki's getting at.

As for the latter question, Shun considers it for a few moments before answering.] That depends on what you want to do. The vultures are already around to attack any intruders who have to go through the grounds, and I doubt whoever was spreading those masks the other day would have settled for temple grounds if people could teleport directly into the building. [So it's possible any protection of that nature would be a waste of effort.]

[Fubuki deserved that, but it was also what he was after anyway, so that's a net positive.]

That's a relief. They're for more than just decoration and petting, huh? [But the real question is, does the intruder have to be dead before they attac—]

[Getting his mind off that subject. Short of comical tripwires (as in, tripwires that play out comically in his head when he imagines how they would work), he can't quite think of anything that would be effective against the kind of intruder he's thinking of. As a shinki, he...has no idea what the range on his borderlines is, so that's out.]

I'll...think about it some more.

They're scavengers. If you thought they were there for decoration or petting, that's on you. [There's a faint annoyance to Shun's tone there, almost as if he's getting offended on their behalf, but it disappears quickly. The point is that he's confident dealing with a flock of vultures would be at best an unpleasant experience for even any god to end up in that situation.

Fubuki's seeming focus on this subject piques his interest, though, and he turns towards him more fully with a cursory glance over.]

If there's something on your mind, you can say it. [Shun's usually the one more interested in this sort of thing.]

Aha... Just trying to take my duties seriously. If something worse than paper masks were to happen, that would be bad.

[Understatement?? But it's Shun's temple, so...] Didn't mean to imply anything about the temple as it stands now, though.

[Fubuki certainly isn't wrong about that, and Shun inclines his head slightly in some semblance of approval.] It's a smart thing to think about, but you can't always prepare for every eventuality, as much as we both might want to. Right now, I doubt either of us has painted enough of a target on our backs for anything worse than paper masks, so I'd put that focus towards being prepared to respond to whatever does end up happening.

[Things might change if Shun ever manages to make any progress on his attempts to track down their enemies, but for now, expecting an attack on specifically their temple when the old gods are far more entrenched and have done more to draw ire seems unwise.]

[On the other hand, if Fubuki had already made any enemies, he wouldn't remember it...]

There are still some things that would make somebody restless even if they know that, you know? Even if it's a waste of energy.

[There's very little he can foresee, anyway. And if he does relax on this and turn his energy to other things...that's not good, either. Sometimes he gets caught in quiet moments where everything he's been repressing almost catches up to him. (Not often, though, or he'd really be in trouble.)]

... Ahaha, I'll work on that, too. For now... [He holds up a bottle of water.] Do you have water on you? We can cover more ground if we split up, so I was thinking...

I know. It's annoying the hell out of me as well, but I have more experience with putting that restlessness to what I can help instead of wasting it lingering on what I can't. [Though Shun's tone is understanding in some ways, it's also rather blunt, because this is an issue he's had to surpass himself a while ago. Restless energy is a large part of what keeps him so constantly active and maintaining things like his training and patrolling schedule, and by this point he's pretty much stopped caring about the source.

By way of answer to Fubuki's other question, Shun pulls up his shirt slightly and turns his back to more obviously reveal what appears to be a large canteen of water clipped to his belt.]

I'm not reckless enough to come into this kind of climate without a good amount of water.

I guess that's the difference between you and me. [The statement or the water? ...Probably both. Although he's never been in this kind of climate that he can recall, barring Bast Temple, which...doesn't really count.]

I'll take your advice and do what I can, then. [Meaning the flyers.] I can take an area you haven't covered. And I'll...buy a pair of lighters?

[Shun just assumes he means both of those, and takes the remark with a huff that's somewhere between dismissive and what might be very, very dry amusement. There are a hell of a lot more differences than just that between them, but if that's what he wants to focus on then Shun can't necessarily disagree.

There's a short nod in answer to Fubuki's suggestion on splitting areas, but he gets a brief glance at that last, uncertain suggestion.] Don't bother. I can buy my own.

Got it. Stay hydrated! [Doubtless that would be met with another Look, but Fubuki's becoming rapidly more immune to those than he is already.]

[That indeed gets another Look, though given how little it ever seems to do to the people who insist on being concerned for Shun's welfare, he's mostly doing it for the token disagreement at this point.

Nonetheless, as Fubuki says his farewell, Shun raises a hand briefly before turning his attention back to the flyers. There's still plenty more to destroy in this area...]
