Allergies and a bit of science [closed]

Who: Elfnein and Maria
When: July 1st /2nd
Where: The world of the living
What: Prayer #13

[ Elfnein had decided to answer a call for allergy relief from a person who couldn’t get any sort of medical relief from their seasonal allergies. It would be a perfect way to gain more followers and help out without the need of fighting. ]

[ The small goddess had a bag filled with over the counter allergy medications and other old cures people seemed to swear by. There were also a few beakers and tools to mix, crush and create some hopefully not deadly cure; Elfnein was knowledgeable about everything related to the human body and the different ways to cure whatever disease might fall on someone. Though Elfnein’s method was a bit complex considering this could be solved by going right to the problem of the plants and other animals causing the issue. ]

It shouldn’t take long to create a cure

[ She had asked Maria to help with everything since it was going to be a lot of trial and error work. At the very least there was an adult making sure nothing bad was going to happen. ]

No, it's fine. It's strange, but no worse than something like a cough syrup. [Or at least, one that someone hasn't tried to cover up with obnoxious fruit taste.]

It's fine as a standard. If it tastes too nice, I think people start to think it'll be ineffective, and belief in how much something will work can affect how well it actually does.

[At least, it can with medications, so it's probably best to be safe and keep it as is.]

It's part of the placebo effect, I think. Give someone something and tell them it works - or something that looks and tastes like something that works - and it may well work better than it would have without that belief.

Of course. It's useful information to have if you plan to test any kind of medicine.

[Especially since it can help to define if something actually works or people just think it should work.]

That's a good idea. I'm sure if you made an offer on the BBS there'd be plenty of people willing to try it.

[Most of them seem quite adventurous enough to test out something as simple as a medication, at least.]
