"Oh! It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Kairi! My name is Alice, Alice Liddell." She offered a curtsy in greeting. "I'm a goddess... er... but... I actually don't know who I am or what I'm supposed to do. The messenger said so much I think I may have missed that part. How would I know who I am if I weren't paying attention?" Alice hadn't meant to ignore what was being said, but it had been a lot of information! "Do... do you think they'll be mad if I ask them who I am again? I think it started with an I.... or maybe an E?"

At the mention of not needing to call Kairi "miss," she blushed.

"Well, I suppose that's true. Are you sure you don't mind?"

Kairi smiles a little broader and nods her head. "I'm just a teenager, so it's fine. We're not that far apart in age." In her mind. "I have two friends you might like to meet sometime since they're even closer to your age - their names are Nanako and Goten."

She loves her little friends, so she gushes a bit about them. "Nanako's a goddess too, even though she's little, but she's kind and helps out her big brother here a lot. And then there's Goten, who has a lot of energy. He's always running off somewhere on an adventure - sometimes I get to go with him, as a fellow shinki."

But then she stands back up. "I wouldn't worry too much about what a goddess is supposed to do or not do on your first day, Alice, but if you want I can tell you a bit more about some of the prayers I've done with my own god. Some were exciting." And some were a little scary, dealing with ayakashi and all. She hopes it's not too scary for Alice. "But you'll be safer with a shinki around you too."

"Well, if they wish to meet me too, then I wouldn't mind at all!" she smiled. It might be nice to have someone her own age. She just hoped the other goddess wanted to meet her. But it was all still quite a bit to take in.

"Oh ah... I don't have any siblings here," at least not that she was aware of, her older sister and brother certainly didn't seem to be looking for her. She brightened up considerably at the thought of getting more information and grabbed Kairi's hand, forgetting the game for the moment.

"That would be wonderful! Thank you!"

"I actually don't have any siblings here either - but I adopted some people as like my siblings anyway!" She holds up her free hand to count through all of them. "Roxas, Sora, Raichi, Senri, Yurick, Nari... they all live at the same temple I do, so they're like my brothers. Roxas is my god but Sora is his partner and the rest are shinki like me. So you never know!"

She has hope that a pleasant girl like Alice will make her way with the help of a few others just like Nanako's managed to do. She doesn't mind having her hand held either. "Even if Nanako's busy, or Goten's running around, I know a few others who we could talk to as well." Basically she knows a lot of people.

"Miss Kairi knows so many people!" she was quite impressed. At the mention of them all living at the same temple she tilted her head. "That must be quite a grand temple! Sora is Roxas partner? Partner in what? Business?"

"Do you know everyone here, Miss Kairi?"

It isn't about what makes me feel better, sir. It's about what makes you feel better. [She insisted, biting her lip. She did notice, though, how his eyes never looked around and while he looked at her, he didn't really seem to see her.

So her curiosity, which could make her very rude, piqued and she couldn't help but ask:]

I beg your pardon sir, but are you blind? [She asked pausing in their walking, trying to lock her gaze with his.]

Yukina

"I wouldn't!" Alice replied back a bit petulantly. "We're just trying to help her," she tried to reassure the mother bird again, but the mama bird kept insisting Yukina was a serpent to the point that Alice scowled, and without meaning to: "You stop that right now!" she ordered and the mother bird was suddenly incredibly silent. Alice blinked, surprised that had worked. The mother bird didn't give Yukina any further trouble as she set the baby bird back in the nest.

When everything was said and done, Alice looked at the mama bird.

"Um... thank you for your patience, Miss Mama Bird," Alice offered, a bit meekly and the mother bird gave a soft, polite chirp in reply before quickly tending to her chick.

Alice turned back to Yukina.

"Are you alright? She didn't peck your hand, did she?"

Yukina's sleeve fell low enough to hide the slight peck, so she shook her head, and began to climb down.

"If I was her, I'm not sure I'd believe two big, clumsy girls knew how to help me," Yukina said fairly, as she landed on the ground again and began straightening her obi.

All the same, she turned and bowed toward the tree.

"Miss Mama Bird and Mr. Baby Bird, please call on us again if you need help," she said sweetly.

And then.

"I think I forgot to introduce myself," she realized, bowing to Alice again. "My name is Yukina."

Alice was not so kind or easily forgiving as Yukina and did not bow to the birds. However, she did turn to Yukina and smiled brightly, offering a curtsy, even in her kimono.

"Oh ah, I do believe I did too! My name is Alice, Alice Liddell! It's a pleasure to meat you, Miss Yukina! Thank you so much for helping me! It ah- could I do anything to repay you?"

"Miss Alice is kind to ask," Yukina began, smiling, "but I don't think I need anything, really. I would like to understand how I am to serve my god or goddess, though. I don't know much about that yet!"

[madcuriosity]

"Oh! Ah, well, I do know my shinki," she had, unfortunately watched Yukina die when she arrived, but had tried to push the memory from her mind, nearly crying at the sight. She was still so young, after all. By pushing the memory from her mind, and so in shock of everything the memory and the appearance of her shinki, of Yukina, was lost on Alice. She remembered key details, of course, her hair color being the most prominent.

"My shinki has the same hair color as you in fact, Miss Yukina! But how strange that you weren't told your god or goddesses name! How are you supposed to find them? Or are they supposed to find you?"

Johan

It's very English sounding because Alice is quite English.

"Rupert Callum Liddell! What a splendid name! A very dignified name! It's the sort of name you read about on big tomes in a library! I shall call him Ruru for short, and only use his full name when I am cross with him!"

[rainbowmaster]

Johan smiles. So this is the innocence of a child, huh?

"Sounds like a good idea." He looks down at the toy and grins. "You be good to Alice now, Rupert."

Alice made the cat plush nod in agreement to Johan before giggling.

"Thank you again, Mr. Johan. I don't think I could have won him without help! You ah- you granted my wish! I think... I did wish for him, and that's what this festival is about, right?"

[rainbowmaster]

Her words take him by surprise.

She had wished for this? Probably not the same wish that he's seen people hang up, but in a way, it does make him feel happy that he was able to help grant this young girl's wish. So, he gives her a smile. "I'm happy I've managed to grant your wish. And you're right, this festival is for wishes."

[madcuriosity]

"I've never been to a festival like this before... I've never been to any festival, in fact! Oh! Unless you count the May Day celebrations! Or holidays! But they've never looked anything like this." Being seven didn't leave a lot of room for worldly experiences.

"Is this your first festival or have you been to many, Mr. Johan? Do all festivals have a theme?"

Sora

[Alice heard it. She heard it again and again and then-]

Ah! There! [Caught in a bush, his foot wrapped up in vines, was a little duckling, peeping for help while mama duck frantically quacked nearby.]

Mr. Sora! It's the little duckling! Oh we have to help it!

[oathkeeper]

[OH NO A BABY DUCK-- How did Alice hear his little bitty voice...? ... Probably unimportant.

Sora quickly makes his way over to the baby duckling and kneels.]

Don't worry little guy! We'll get you out of here and back to your mama!

And mama, we'll be really careful!

[He glances at Alice.]

Help me carefully untangle him? If we both work together we can get him free!

[madcuriosity]

[Alice didn't hesitate, even her new kimono given to her. She made soft shushing noises.]

It's alright, we're here to help. Mr. Sora and I! [She soothed. The little duckling looked between the two of them, peeping.]

That's right, now, don't fret, and don't move.

Mr. Sora can you reach him? [She asked, pulling back the bush branches as best she could.]

[oathkeeper]

[Sora is gonna have to take a double take with her on this Mr. Sora stuff. He's fifteen, he doesn't want to be a mister!

With Alice's gentle cooing Sora is able to reach out a gentle hand to the baby duck. His fingers are careful as he gently untangles the little one as if it's porcelain glass. One wing... one webbed foot...]

Almost...

[And he's free!]

Roy Parker

"Oh ah then what is your name si- er..." she didn't want to just call him nothing. And Alice noticed his distaste for the curtsy but she couldn't very well change the past. Or could she? She was a goddess, was that within her abilities now? Would there be consequences for changing time? All the same, Alice couldn't nor wouldn't go back in time to not curtsy, that would be rude.

She smiled at knowing it hadn't hurt or even hit him.

"Oh thank goodness! I'm so glad you're alright, si- er... um... what is your name?"

You can't change the past and you can't do anything about the future. All you can do anything about is the present. That's the way he's lived his life, that's the way he'll continue to live his life. And changing the past isn't fair, in the end, both on oneself or others, no matter what people might want.

What is his name? That's a harder question to answer than it should be, and it gives him pause.

"It's Roy Parker," he finally says. Using his real name, he decides, should be alright here. He won't be sullying his family name by being a god, right? Except his family was religious, so maybe going beyond being an agnostic is bad too. "And what's it that you're called?"

"It's very nice to meet you, Mr. Parker," she smiled but didn't make to curtsy again. "My name is Alice, Alice Liddell! Are you enjoying yourself here, Mr. Parker?"

"Just call me Roy. Mr. Parker's my paw." Whom he had not spoken to in years. He didn't even know if he was alive still, back then, receiving letters when you're on the run isn't the easiest thing. (Now he's definitely dead, this place and time is over a hundred years in the future.) "That I am, Miss Alice. But enjoyin' myself always come easy for me. Are you enjoyin' yourself?"
