It's just a courtesy call
Who: Izuku, Lavi, Yoon, Scully, and You
When: July 6th
Where: The Far Shore
What: Lavi’s taken on a personalized mission. It’s time to research some acid-proof materials.
After receiving the request from Orihime, Lavi’s decided that there are some people he believed would be able to help him make this task just a little easier. So, it isn’t hard at all for him to send them a simple text:
Hope you guys aren’t busy, but I’m hoping you’d guys be able to help me out with researching for acid-proof materials.

He eyes the screen, reading what's on it.]
I didn't think there'd be fibers for that. [He sounds like he's almost in awe. Then again, he doesn't have enough knowledge in science like she does.] What're these called?
no subject
[She switches over to another page. This picture is of a fluffy fiber that looks more like cotton.] But it's more resistant to acid.
So if you sandwiched that as a filler layer between layers of Kermel, then --
[She glances up, and adds, a little dryly:] I'm not an engineer and I don't think I'm a chemist either, so you should probably test this before you do anything dangerous with it.
no subject
Is it possible to even test it out against acid?
[He's not going to use his goddess to test something out that can potentially be dangerous.
Though, at her explanation, Lavi looks at her.]
You definitely sound as if you know what you're talking about, though.
no subject
[Why, she can't say, and even saying that much leaves her a little uncomfortable. She shakes it off and puts her phone back into her blazer pocket, glancing up at his face.]
All you should need to test it is a sample of the acid.
no subject
He understands the feeling.
Lavi cups his chin in thought, thinking it over before he just kind of blinks at her.]
Well, any chance you happen to know where we can even grab a sample of acid?
no subject
[She frowns in thought.]
What is this clothing for?
no subject
[There's a pause as if he wonders whether he should tell Scully about this, but decides not to.
After all, Cardia doesn't want a lot of people to know just what kind of power she possesses.]
She has this issue with acid, so I'm hoping I'd be able to get clothing for her that would resist it. [There. Might also be something in his tone that gently warns Scully that he can't say anything more without breaking his goddess' trust.]
no subject
She eyes him uncertainly for a moment before giving up with a small shrug. He doesn't want her to ask, and she doesn't need to know.]
They make protective clothing out of these kinds of fibers already. You could buy a jacket and see if it works for her purposes first.
no subject
Right.
[There's a pause.]
What if it still manages to melt through?
no subject
[She frowns thoughtfully.]
It really does depend on the acid. The trick is getting a material that's soft enough to make into clothing.
no subject
I'd try to get a sample of the acid if I could, but that's not something easy for me to do.
[His eye narrows in thought as he thinks about it.
What Scully told him before already sounds good, he just wonders if Orihime would be able to properly make clothing.]
Think it's capable by mixing magic and science together?
no subject
[Science, yes. Science she seems to be pretty comfortable with, but all of the less physical dimensions of an afterlife working for the gods? Not so much.
She figures she'll work it out in time, but as it is, she's barely comfortable with being able to cast borderlines. Anything beyond that she's content to leave to the experts.]
no subject
Well, the fiber thing does seem to be useful. Suppose I'll just need to be able to find a way to explain it to Lady Orihime.
[Scully, Lavi would offer to train you on how to cast borderlines but it's usually a hit and miss with this guy.]
no subject
[The weaver? Scully's seen her around, but hasn't spoken with her directly yet. It's a bit of a surprise to hear someone talk so casually about handing materials over to her.]
... I'm sure she knows more about magic than I do, anyway.
no subject
[It's actually not a complicated story, but he doesn't want to relate it.
A nod.]
Mm, guess I should bring it up to her then to see what she thinks of it.
no subject
Probably.
Do you need me to write down the fiber types? [Or will he remember them?]
no subject
Can you write them down?
no subject
[She pulls out her notebook and scribbles briefly, checking her phone again and adding the manufacturers' websites in a footnote before she hands the scrap of paper over.]
Let me know if it works out.
no subject
I will. [A smile.] And thanks for helping me out.
no subject
[She tucks the notebook back into her pocket, smiles back at Lavi, and turns to go.]
