The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

july 16, morning, outside Inanna's temple

[ ooc: He just arrived yesterday, and since I'm not sure how his arrival threads will go, I'm just wiping his memory for his age-down day. As far as he knows, he's freshly arrived today. If you prefer adult version, do hit me up at the training log! ;) ]

[ Something scary wakes him up. A loud bang? He's not sure, but it makes him jittery, like something's crawling in his belly. Goku hurries to the window to peer outside. It's dark. The house feels big and empty. Or maybe it just seems that way because he's all alone and doesn't remember much of ... well. Anything.

He returns to bed and sits there for what feels like long long time, knees pulled up against his chest, hoping that something would happen. Eventually, it does. The sun rises, pouring light into the room. Goku feels its warmth on his face. Maybe it's not so scary, after all?

But it'd be a lot less creepy if he could talk to someone about it.

Wait. Do people even exist? He suddenly remembers that he doesn't know a single person in the whole wide world. Is that because he's in here, and they're all out there? How long has he been here? Somehow, he knows he's ... dead? Or something. He wiggles his toes. Can dead people do that? He puts his feet on the floor and walks across it. A ghost can't do that, right?

He opens his door and the hallway feels looks real dark and long. But there's a door at the end of it, so after checking both directions quickly, he makes a run for it and stumbles out into the morning sunshine.

He'll call out to anyone he sees, like you're the best person ever. Because you would also be one of the first people he's ever met. And he's glad to see you. ]

Hey!!!

[The young boy he comes across looks a little startled by the sudden greeting, but after the momentary turn of shyness, he smiles and waves back. There's something a bit worried about his expression, but he's putting it aside for the sake of being nice.]

Hi, did you only just come here too? It's a weird place, isn't it? ["Weird" is said in that awestruck way of kids who consider it to basically mean the same thing as "awesome".]

[ Cool, a kid! About his age, maybe? He's not sure but he's very excited. Goku eagerly waves again and hurries over. ]

Oooh. Yeah, I just woke up! Sort of. [ He sat in bed kind of scared for ages until the sun came up, but he's not gonna say that straight away. And he also thinks 'weird' is awesome. ] This place is super weird! Do you know where all the people are?

[ Or if there are actually other people? ]

Ah, that happened to you as well? I woke up in this weird hill building. [He takes a moment to think about that very deeply, because it's definitely all very strange. But it's also all very much beyond him right now, so he just kind of leaves it aside in favour of the subject of other people.]

Yeah, I've seen some. [Serious nod.] Most of them have been other kids, though. I don't know where the adults are.

[ Oh good, so he's not the only one who woke up all turned around! Goku feels better about that. ]

A hill building?? You mean like a building made out of a hill?

[ That sounds kind of funny! He wants to see it. ]

You think someone took away all the adults?

[An older woman is out taking a stroll, for whatever reason. Long grey hair, still flying in different directions, a face covered in scars and wrinkles (more scars than wrinkles, for better or worse), and a wiry yet muscular frame, she might look a little intimidating to a small child. Still, she kneels down when Goku gets close, eying him curiously.]

... Hey. [Goku's pretty recognisable whatever his age. She'd kept her distance yesterday, but now should be fine.] How are you today?

[ Really, you could look like a furry monkey thing and he'll still be glad to see you. (Actually, that might be very cool too). All he knows is, it's another person, they exist and they're friendly-like. He doesn't even have to crane his neck to see her because she comes down to his height.

The first thing he notices of course, are the jagged marks on her face. He stares probably longer than is nice, at least for grown-ups. ]

I'm okay, I guess. I just came out of there. [ He points to the house. He says this like it's supposed to make sense. It does in his mind, anyway. He can't remember ever being anywhere else. But he can't remember much of anything at all. ]

Where did you come from?

[bussounoshima]

[She's used to staring, at least. It's much more endearing coming from a small child than an adult. She'll even go along with Goku's totally sensible conversation.]

Today? From a temple on top of a hill over there. [And she points in the direction of the Temple of Aditi, though it isn't visible right now.] Before that, I came from a land very far from here, in the West.

I don't remember anything about yesterday. Or any of the days.

[ He feels a little sad about that. But at least now he can start remembering new stuff, beginning with this place, and this lady, and the temple she's from, just over there. He's glad she's here now, even though she started out lots further. ]

So how come you're here, now? Did you walk all the way?

[erogappa]

[ Gojyo's at the end of the lane, staring up at the sky and wondering if he knows how to make a kite. He knows what a kite is -- he's not stupid! -- but more than that, he knows that there's a bunch of different ways that a kite can look. And he's pretty sure that one of those ways is a homemade kind of thing, with... with a piece of newspaper, maybe? And some straight twigs? And...

But then there's a golden-haired little boy bounding up to him, and Gojyo forgets about kites. ]

Hi? [ Do they know each other? ] I'm Gojyo.

[ He smiles brightly. ]

​I'm Goku!

[ Nope, they don't know each other ... yet! But he sure wants to get to know you. He looks up at the spot in the sky where Gojyo was looking. ]

Whatcha lookin' at?

[erogappa]

[ Goku introduced himself, so apparently they don't know each other! That's a relief. He'd feel really bad if he went out to meet a friend and they didn't know him! ]

The wind. See? [ There's a bird of some kind soaring way high up in the blue, the lazy circles of a predator. ] If birds can fly like that way high up, then it means it's a good day to fly a kite!

Ooh.

​[ Goku likes birds. He's quite sure about this somehow, as he watches the one in the sky soaring above their heads. The sky is so wide open. He wishes he could fly, too. ]

You have a kite?? I wanna see!

Hey!

[Kairi turns at his call and smiles brightly in his direction. He does sound a little upset, so she decides to introduce herself first.]

My name is Kairi. It's very nice to meet you.

[For all his distress, she's incredibly calm.]

I'm Goku!

[ Weirdly enough, that's the only thing he really remembers about himself. He likes the name, and he's glad that it's his. ]

Nice to meet you too! [ He doesn't feel as panicky as he did a moment ago. And somehow, the sound of those two sentences together makes him giggle. ]

Do you know where I am?

[little_wave]

Mmm....

[She sticks her finger in her mouth.]

Short? No...

[She removes it in a kind of AH HA realization.]

Shore! Far Shore - one of the adults said that.

Far Shore?

[ Huh! Well okay, now there's a name to the place he's in. Far Shore...he's going to remember this. ]

So why's it so far away? I don't remember how I got here. Do you?

[lookingforhead]

[ooc: Celty arrived at the last event so she's new too. However she's still at her usual age]

[The woman walking by probably didn't cast the most normal image, clad neck to toe in a black biker's outfit. The look was completed by her yellow motorcycle helmet. She didn't seem to have a motorcycle with her though. Still, she stands out from other passersby just by how differently she's dressed.

The helmet turns to look in the direction of the shouting voice, and when she spots him she points at herself to confirm he's talking to her.]

[ ooc: Okay! ]

[ The person who stops looks weird! And cool. Maybe a little scary too, because of the mask thing. But Goku thinks cool is better than scary, so that's what wins out in the end. When the person points to him (her?) self, Goku nods eagerly. He trots over and looks at them, wide-eyed. ]

Why're you wearing that mask?

[lookingforhead]

[She goes a bit stiff at the question. It's a bit direct isn't it? Just a little rude? Still, she doesn't have a good answer to offer that she thinks he'll believe. Kids are sharp like that. It's not like she has a motorcycle she can point to as an excuse.

She beckons him closer and then types up a reply, hoping he'll be able to read it as she holds it out.]

I've had it as long as I can remember. I don't look like most people so I don't want to worry them.

[There. Not technically lying.]

[ Instead of answering the regular way, the person waves him close and starts poking into the machine. Goku watches with fascination until she's done. ]

Oh...

[ He leans in and reads it, slowly. And then reads it over again, just in case. ]

Hmmmm okay. [ Sounds like a good enough reason to him! He turns back to look at the mask again and finds himself staring back at his own reflection. He smiles at her, and then giggles because it feels like he's smiling at himself. ]

I'm not worried, [ he says friendly-like. ]

July 16 (Teenaged)

[As Goku's running around, he'll be able to catch sight of Dokugakuji. He'd only just gotten over the shock of seeing Goku here again, but an even younger Goku... wow. One surprise after another. He assumes the same rules apply as do with Gojyo, but it's not like he knows that much about Goku's past anyway - just don't touch the limiter.]

Hey to you too. How'a it going?

[Start out simple, try to figure out how old the kid actually seems. He still feels the same age, after all, just looks younger.]

[ The guy looks very tall and friendly. Goku thinks he must be like fifty. Only because he looks lots younger than Sanzo, who was one hundred and nine. ]

I'm okay! [ He smiles. And since he's a very polite boy, he says: ]

What about you?

Oh, been better.

[He answers honestly, but still reaches down to ruffles the kid's hair, like he used to do to Gojyo when they were kids.]

You know what helps, though? Getting a snack together.

[He laughs pre-emptively, knowing that food should be an easy go-to, but hey, he's actively trying to earn some trust here.]

Unless you've got plans with someone? A god or shinki maybe?

[ Been better must mean he's not as good now, which is sad. But Goku thinks getting a snack together is a great idea, and of course it has to make the man feel lots better too.

Goku ducks his head and giggles when the man ruffles his hair. ]

I wanna snack! An' I don't really know anyone. [ So no plans! ]
