The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[ She is going to gloss over the fact that what he said makes no sense to her. People are nice. All of them. How could they not like her friend? Just because he's weird?

That's weird, too. ]

Lavi freezes a bit at the word, eye widening briefly. Is that what he is to her? A friend? Lavi's used to being alone, used to seeking help only when necessary. There are people he's met who seemed to know him, but—

He's quick to keep what he's thinking off of his face.

Hibiki doesn't need to be troubled by that.

So, he just keeps the smile up.]

Yeah...we're friends.

[kurukuruchan]

That's right! So...

[ She rummages around on the table, and produces some little slips of paper and a marker. She offers them to him. ]

Wanna play Friend Ticket trading?

[ripplesoflosttime]

How do you play?

It's real fun. First you make a ticket, like this.

[ She will demonstrate, drawing a line about a quarter of the way down her strip of paper. ] Then you add your name, and any other stuff you like. Real Friend Tickets have clothes on them.

[ She writes her name carefully (yet still messily, somehow) on both sections of the paper, and starts doodling a dress on the bottom half and some stars on the top. ]

When you're done, swap the top part! And that shows what good friends you are!!

[Lavi watches her, listening to her as she explains the instructions.

It makes him almost tilt his head.]

Doesn't seem to be hard.

[So, let's give it a try.

He takes the strip of paper, drawing a line the same way Hibiki did before he writes his name on the top and bottom sections of the paper.]

Great! There's colors, too.

[ Here are her markers. She was Prepared for this game.

She shoves another snack in her mouth and chews on it while she works on her ticket, feet swinging beneath the table. Gonna make a really...really pretty ticket....

And someday her real ticket will come and they'll all go to PriPara together! ]

[Seeing her act like this is almost endearing.

So, he'll just do the same as he works on his own ticket. Seeing her work so hard makes him curious though that he can't help but peek a few times.]

[ Her art is...not great. Her flowers are crooked and she's not very good at coloring between the lines. But great deliberation appears to have been taken, all the same.

When Hibiki's done, she puts her marker down and picks up her ticket to smile at it. She swallows her snack. ] Looks good.

[ How's yours coming? Let her see, let her see! ]

[Lavi's art isn't that much better, but then again, he's mostly drawing out symbols that seems to make little to no sense to anyone who tries to read it. There's the occasional book, panda, and rabbits on it, though that all somehow seem to fit.

He blinks once before he lets her take a peek at his.]

Whoooaaaaa, a panda! Those are from Pina, right? Are you from Pina??

[ Very cool. PriPara uses pandas as security, so therefore pandas are Good.

Then she remembers he has trouble with that particular faculty. ]

Oh, but if you don't remember, that's okay.

Pina—That's like China, right?

[Or does that not exist where she's from?]

[kurukuruchan]

Pina is Pina. It's a big country with a long history and a wall running through it.

Their fabric is really pretty.

[ Prioripries. ]

[ripplesoflosttime]

[Huh, so that is something from her world.

Or home.

Or whatever is going on here.]

Here, they'd call Pina, "China".

[kurukuruchan]

That's funny.

[ Would she be Chibiki? ]

Is it?

Well, it's "Pina."

[ That this remains her logic ten years later clearly speaks to its soundness. ]

Your panda is still really neat, though.

[A blink.

He's. Not going to argue since it seems a little troublesome.]

...Thank you.

This ticket's ready whenever you are.

[ She waves hers around but isn't gonna snap it until he's all set. ]

[ripplesoflosttime]

[Lavi finishes soon enough, holding out his ticket.]

I'm done.

[kurukuruchan]

Great! You snap it here.

[ Or, well, since this is paper, they'll have to rip. Hibiki holds hers carefully to make sure it only splits along the line she drew. ]

Then let's trade!

[Lavi carefully does the same, splitting the paper along the line.

He soon offers the other part to her for the trade.]

[ Oh boy, oh boy. Hibiki accepts the ticket and hands him hers in exchange. She holds onto her new friend's Friend Ticket like it is her most precious treasure. Because, right now, it is. ] Now there's proof!! You're a forever friend.

Isn't that great??

[ This castle doesn't feel so empty anymore. ]

Forever friend?

[But even so, his fingers curl around the Friend Ticket.

He smiles now.]

Yeah, it is.

Let's go to PriPara together someday!

[ Because obviously there is PriPara here. And everything is gonna work out okay even if she hasn't seen anybody she knows. And PriPara will let him in despite him being a boy, because it can tell she wants him there, and what she says, goes.

All of this will work out exactly the way she wants it to. ]
