Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[Oh, there he is. Already working on learning what weapons he has as a shinki. Ren can't help but smile a little as he makes his way over (from the side and kind of behind, where it's safer). Is that because he's already determined to be a good shinki, or because he likes learning new ways of fighting? Or because he's bored with nothing else to do? Ren can't wait to find out.]

It's like this.

[He forms his hand into the right shape as he comes to a stop next to Goku and holds it out for a moment so he can see it, and then jerks his arm in a sharp line out in front of him.

Which does absolutely nothing, of course, since he doesn't have that power. He smiles warmly at Goku once he's done demonstrating anyway.]

But it looked like you were pretty close already.

[ It turns out he was doing it okay, mostly. Goku watches curiously as the guy demonstrates with his fingers. Hm, maybe that does look like a halberd. He quickly mimics the form and motion and zing! something forms. It doesn't look like much at the moment. But maybe with some practice, it'll be better? He hopes so, anyway. It's hard to see how something like that can defend against those ayakashi (?) things. ]

Hey, thanks!

[ He gives him a friendly smile. ] I'm Goku! I'm kinda new here. Guess you can tell. Heh.

[Okay, so that solves the mystery of whether he'd been here the whole time or had left and come back once and for all. Not that it hadn't been kind of obvious from his attempts at a borderline...but it's nice knowing for sure instead of just assuming it.]

Maybe a little. But I bet there's a lot of people who have been here who wouldn't do any better. This is only the first or second time they've starting teaching that stuff right away.

[Look, it was almost three months before he even saw someone cast a borderline, so Goku is doing super good to be learning it on the first day as far as he's concerned.

...Oh, yes, he's supposed to introduce himself. That is definitely a thing that needs to happen here.]

I'm Suzugamori Ren. !'m also your new teammate. It's nice to meet you.

[ Goku doesn't get why anyone would not try to learn borderlines. If it's gonna make you stronger, he thinks it's awesome. But if they never actually taught anyone how before, then maybe people didn't even know they could do it. The brochure isn't totally clear about everything, but at least it's something.

He brightens up considerably when the boy mentions 'teammate.' They said that he was supposed to get one, but didn't tell him who. ]

Ooooh. You are?? So does that mean you're a god?

[And there it is, his least favorite word in all of this. At least Goku asking it means he doesn't have to say it himself, and it's easier to just keep smiling that way too.]

I'd prefer if you thought of me as the team leader. But yes, I am. My other name is Inanna.

[ Inanna? Kind of like banana. That sounds yummy. He likes it! ]

You've got lotsa names, hehe. I only have the one. Well, Son Goku, so I guess that's two. I dunno why it's the only thing I remember, though.

[ He's curious about his life before dying -- but it makes him feel weird when he tries to remember. Something tells him he shouldn't try. ]

So how'd you become a leader?

[Well, he can't really blame Goku for wondering about that so soon after getting here, but he just has a somewhat apologetic smile for him on that front.]

That's just how it is for shinki. So we'll just have to make lots of new memories, right>

[As to how he became a "leader'...that is a good question that he'd still like the answer to himself. And probably most of them would.]

Hmm...they kind of just made me one? I had my own team before too so maybe that's why. I don't think any of us know why we're here yet, just that we are.

I definitely wanna make new ones, [ he says enthusiastically. And maybe since he doesn't remember anything, he'll have lots of room to remember all the new stuff. ]

Ooh. What kind of team? Like a fighting team? [ It's gotta be a fighting team, right? Goku read the pamphlet, sort of. And it's all about fighting monsters. He's actually very excited about this idea! ]

[shadowrevenger]

[A fighting team...oh, how he wishes he could say that's what it was and not give Goku the wrong impression. So now he just has to hope he's not about to be incredibly disappointing.]

Well, not the kind of fighting your probably thinking of. It was for a game that's kind of about fighting. I'm still learning how fight the way I need to to help here.

[ That's okay, team leader. Goku can't imagine being disappointed by anything he does! Even if it turns out he doesn't fight or anything. ]

A game? How do you play?

[ He perks up. He might not remember much about himself, but somehow he has a feeling games are a thing he likes. They're supposed to be fun, and who doesn't like fun? ]

[...Oh, he is really starting to like this guy already. And he is more than happy to elaborate on his favorite thing in the world (and hopefully make it sound as cool as possible in the process).]

Yes! It's a card game called Cardfight!! Vanguard. You and your opponent are each the leader of an army on the planet Cray, and you take turns building up your front line and leading your units in battle against the opposing army, until one of you has too much damage to continue.

[ Cardfight Vanguard! This sounds awesomely cool to Goku. Especially the part about being the leader of an army and going into battles and so on. This guy really does know how to be a team leader. ]

So are you like ... the general or something? How many battles have you won?

[shadowrevenger]

Well, that is my friend's nickname, so I guess it is kind of like that.

[He definitely feels like that was one reason he was chosen to replace this particular war goddess, anyway, even if he does sometimes feel like he's a lot in over his head with that domain. Still, he was pretty successful at home, so he has to really think about that question.]

Mmmm...I've lost track. Most of them? For a while, I won all of them, but then my friends caught up to me. But that's okay; I like having competition.

[ He's won so many he's lost track. Goku is very impressed. He thinks he's really lucked out, to have such a strong team leader. ]

What about here? Have you won lots of battles?

[ How many battles do they go on here? He knows they're supposed to kill ayakashi, but how many of them are out there? ]

[Oh, he'd much rather keep talking about all the battles he won at home, because his track record here has been a lot more depressing.]

A few of them. When I first got here, we were all sent out to deal with some kind of explosion of ayakashi, and I managed to take down a few of them. But I didn't have that shinki for very long, and the one I had after that didn't want to fight with me, so we only fought together a couple times. I've been focusing a lot more on learning lately, so I haven't done a lot with the one I have now either--

[Wait, that is a thing he should probably mention, and would have eventually, but it would seem that eventually is now.]

Oh, right. I was going to tell you that eventually...I already have another shinki, so it'll be three of us instead of just the two of us.

Oooh. [ Explosion of ayakashi sounds scary and exciting at once. He tries to picture this explosion in his head, which is made a bit difficult by the fact that he doesn't know what ayakashi look like. In his imagination, they end up looking like bears or tigers or dragons with sharp teeth.

And it's too bad that his team leader's shinki didn't wanna fight with him. At least he won't have that problem with Goku. ]

You have another shinki? Cool! Who is it? [ More teammates! ]

[Hang on, Eric is here somewhere so maybe Ren can point him out...

Nope, he doesn't seem to be anywhere that's immediately visible. Ren shrugs as he turns back Goku and just moves on to plan B.]

His name is Eric. He's about our age--[not that Ren has any idea how old exactly either of them are, but "around his age" seems close enough]--and a little taller than me, and he has blond hair and blue eyes. He should be around here somewhere, so I'm sure you'll meet him pretty soon.

[ 'Our age' seems about right. Even though Goku's got no idea how old that is. He feels old enough, even though he doesn't remember living through any of those years especially. It seems wrong to consider himself zero though, somehow. ]

I'll look for him later!

...so what happened to your other shinkis?

Well, with Hana-san, I think I was just borrowing her until Hibari showed up?

[To be honest, he's still not sure why he was asked to send her back, although he is grateful he didn't have to deal with Hibari's reaction to being a shinki and not being the only one all at once.]

And then Hibari...Hi-kun's very territorial and already didn't like me very much, so he decided he wanted to leave after Eric showed up and I made it clear I wasn't going to just abandon him.

[ That's weird. He's not sure who 'Hibari' is, but why wouldn't he like Ren? He's a pretty nice guy, in Goku's opinion. ]

Maybe he just didn't wanna have a team. But I think it's fun with more people. What's Eric like? Is he strong?

[ Maybe they can spar? ]

[Thankfully, it's not only Ren he doesn't like. It's pretty much everyone. So Goku is definitely not off the mark there.]

No, I don't think he did. So I think we're both a little happier now.

[Shrug. He is, anyway. And he's definitely happier to tak about his current shinki who is far more stable than the last.]

He's quiet and a little standoffish sometimes, but he's a good person at heart. Actually, he just rescued a puppy the other day. And he's definitely strong. I think if you can convince him it's worth he, you guys could be really good training partners.

[Look, there's only one reason he'd be asking that question about someone, and he knows perfectly well Goku likes fighting, so of course he's going to assume that's Goku's reason too.]

Oooh. He sounds cool.

[ He smiles warmly. Standoffish people don't scare Goku. Especially ones that are good at heart, which he optimistically thinks is most people, anyway. At least, most people have some good parts in them, even if they have some bad. ]

Are we all gonna live together then? [ He's excited to see the house and kitchen. ]

Yep! I think he's pretty cool too.

[Ren give him a bright smiles back, and his phone is practically out of his pocket before Goku even finishes that question. It's just...really refreshing to have someone who's so eager to work with him right off the bat.]

Yes! There's plenty of room for all of us--oh, here it is--

[He flips his phone around so goku can see the picture of the very castle-inspired building he just pulled up.,/small>]

[ Goku leans in to take a look at the screen. ]

Ooooh. It looks like a castle! That's your house? How did you find it?

[ Or build it himself? He's not sure how these things go. But he's very excited to be living there, either way. ]
