[Open] Life doesn't discriminate
Who: Lavi and You!
What: Aftermath of the Event and Lavi being Lavi
When: July 18 - 25
Where: Far Shore
Warnings?: N/A
A. I’m falling between the cracks
[After the event that affected the Heavens, Lavi has decided to take it upon himself to distance himself from a few people.
So, people would be able to find Lavi at a park, huddled under a tree. He doesn’t seem to be paying attention to anything in particular, but his usual headband is missing and there’s a silver bird clip currently attached to the collar of his shirt. His eye seems to be focused on a book laid out on his lap, lips moving as he reads what’s on the page.
However, the moment he senses someone coming up to him, the book is slammed shut and he eyes the person almost warily.]
B. The Library Goblins
[Thanks to the pulse or whatever it was, one of the first things Lavi’s done after returning to normal is to inspect the library.
Or rather, inspect the area around it.
He frowns a bit, cupping his chin in thought before he turns to the nearest person.]
Have you seen the goblins? [This is. A very important question since Lavi’s become aware of the goblins the moment they had decided to steal the books back.]
C. Wildcard
[Nothing works for you, make one up or hit me up at
seabutterfly!]

[He sounds mostly amused, but it's okay.
At the very least, Hakkai trying to put himself into a good position sounds like a good start. And Lavi is already thinking of the many possibilities of how good it would be to have connections with a god that's within that sort of position.
He tilts his head.]
Prayers are fun to do sometimes. It might help you in the long run, too.
no subject
It could be worse.
[He could be Yuri. In retrospect, he's amazed he didn't react more badly than he had to her prayers; it had only been the one that was too difficult to bear.
Even without his memories. How strange, indeed. He glances at Lavi with a faint smile.]
What sort of ulterior motives would I be teaching for?
no subject
[But even so, Lavi seems to feel at ease.
At least Hakkai doesn't rub him the wrong way as much as Loki does with him. Just thinking of the trickster god makes him immediately want to shudder, but he doesn't.
He laughs a bit, sitting back against the bench and he shrugs.]
Teachers are often seen as trusted people, right? Who knows, maybe you'd try to use that kind of position for some sort of personal gain.
no subject
[But he's sharp, isn't he? And unafraid to call Hakkai out on that possibility. Hakkai wonders if he has a natural distrust of teachers, or if he's just very well attuned to hints of ulterior motive.
He's impressed, regardless. And a little wary.]
I'm Iron Crutch Li. Patron of medicine and pharmacists.
no subject
[Since it's difficult for most shinki to be able to get money for themselves.
But yes, Lavi is quite sharp and it might only be because he has ulterior motives of his own that can be helped along with this man. Either way, he's initially wary of anyone so it's nothing against Hakkai in particular.
If anything, it almost makes him grin.]
Seems like a fitting god for you. Might help you gain a little more trust.
no subject
[Lavi is really doubling down on that 'you must be doing it for trust' theory.
Of course, it's true, but it's not as if there aren't plenty of altruistic reasons to be helping the children of the Far Shore with their arithmetic lessons. His smile is growing a little sharp-edged.
Perhaps he shouldn't have been quite so honest with the boy, if this is what it gets him in the man....]
no subject
[That sharp-edged smile is quick to be returned with a sharp grin of his own.
He's not afraid of calling people out, especially since Hakkai's body language gives off little hints of its own. The fact that Hakkai's smile grew a little sharp speaks for itself.
But Lavi shrugs, quickly adopting his usual casual demeanor.]
But I don't care what you do in the end. Whether you have ulterior motives or not isn't my call, so sorry for attacking you like this.
[But is he genuine in his apology? Hardly.
Either way, he won't tell anyone about this, Hakkai.]
no subject
[This is about as genuine as Lavi's apology, but, in the realm of cliches, turnabout is also fair play.
His smile is back to meaninglessly bright. He shrugs.]
I don't think you're that much younger than I am, are you?
[Closer to Goku's nineteen than Hakkai's twenty-four, but, regardless, too old to be tossing around lines about whether he trusts adults.]
no subject
[At any rate, they might as well try to get along, right?
Lavi tilts his head to the side.]
Depends on how old you think I am.
[Close to nineteen, yes, but the term 'adult' can used very loosely here. But he smiles all the same, curious about what Hakkai would have to say.]
no subject
[He'd actually guess a little older, given Lavi's scars, but he's in the age range where underestimating his age is more insulting than overestimating it, so Hakkai's guessing low.]
no subject
[
Let's pretend mun didn't temporarily forget his age.But Hakkai's a pretty good guesser. Enough to keep Lavi's interest, but who knows if holding this redhead's curiosity is a good thing really.]
no subject
[See. Information sharing, without even forcing Lavi to guess first. He glances at the other man, raising his eyebrows.] So -- whose shinki are you? Or should I guess at that too?
no subject
[And more likely to have ulterior motive.
Lavi chuckles, grinning at him.]
I'm Hel's shinki.
no subject
We get that way after a lifetime of inattentive students.
[Hel... no, not one of the goddesses he knows personally. Norse, if the research he'd done is accurate. He'll have to see if she's put anything on the network.]
no subject
[He grins wider.]
Shame students can't enjoy learning more.
no subject
[And the smart-mouthed sort, but Hakkai doesn't mind that. At least, not so long as it isn't paired with unacceptable behavior.
So far, Lavi seems just fine to him. His eyes narrow with amusement, although his smile is imperturbably intact.]
And there's usually some motivator that works on the inattentive ones -- treats, grades, shiny gold stars....
no subject
[Lavi's usually on his good behavior. Around gods, anyway. But Hakkai strikes him as an interesting sort and if he can jab back at Lavi, then even better.
He laughs.]
I'm not so sure how well those would work. People might get offended that you're treating them like a child.
no subject
[Lavi likes goading people into guessing games, doesn't he? He must be used to being the smartest one in any room.]
... and if someone is too old for a gold star, then they're old enough that the punishment for not paying attention is that they don't learn.
[Corporal punishment just isn't his kind of thing. Violence is for people he plans to kill, people who give him no choice, or (usually) those who fit into both categories. When it comes to teaching lessons, obvious disappointment is all the negative consequence he needs.]
no subject
I'll be sure to do that.
[He tilts his head to the side.]
Makes you wonder if education really is something of a priority for them or just a necessity.
[Lavi sounds almost thoughtful about it, but he shakes his head at the idea of it. Best not to worry about other people and their education.]
no subject
[Although that may change if he tries to drag Goten into learning a little after all. He'd rather the boy not grow up to be a good fighter who's barely literate.]
Well -- it's been a pleasure meeting you properly, Lavi.
[He inclines his head politely and makes to stand.]
Feel free to stop by the school if you'd like. It's usually quiet, unless the baseball club is clearing underbrush or someone's set the kitchen on fire.
no subject
[Or those who might get dragged into the school, anyway.
But he inclines his head in return. He gives him a smile.]
I might have to stop by one of these days then.
no subject
[He shrugs, cheerfully, and returns Lavi's smile.]
Please do, and in the meantime... enjoy your book?
[The book he'd slammed shut at Hakkai's approach. He admits to some curiosity, but, really, not enough to pry.]
no subject
[A glimmer of amusement before he smiles.]
Thank you. Hope to see you around again.
