[open] A sad memory and a lost friend
Who: Yuto and you
When: backdated to July 31
Where: In the place where Sora's temple used to be, later the beach
What: Yuto regains a memory, but loses a very close friend
A. The memory
[He remembered something from his past. Ruins of a city, fire and dust and debris everywhere. The place he saw in that memory looked like it was torn by war. There were civilians fighting soldiers clad in strange uniforms. In the midst of this chaos there was a girl with long black hair, her clothes tattered and dirty. She was kneeling on the ground, hugging a child. And she was crying and saying that it shouldn't be like this. He remembered that his heart ached hearing her words, but it also made him want to do everything he could to make things better, to stop this chaos.
That's all. There was nothing else he recalled besides that short, sad memory. A memory that left him with so many unanswered questions - who was that girl? What was that city? Why were those people fighting? What was he doing there?
Yuto isn't quite sure if it's a good thing he remembered it, because now it'll be too easy for him to become bothered by the guilt that he had forgotten about so many important things and that maybe his friends are still suffering somewhere out there and he can't do anything about it.
Yuto sighs. He should... probably talk about this with someone, but he doesn't want to worry Hajime (at least not right now) so his only other choice is pretty clear. Because who would be better to talk to than a close friend? With that in mind, Yuto makes his way towards Sora's temple. He doesn't expect anything else to happen today.
But the reality is cruel. When Yuto arrives at the place, he freezes, eyes wide open. He shakes his head as if trying to wake up, blinks a few times. But the temple is gone.
It's gone.]
Sora!
[His cry is hopeless ad pointless. Nobody will hear him. Sora is gone. It feels almost ironic considering their last conversation, where Yuto promised that he'll never leave Sora.
And now he stands there, eyes empty.
And he falls to his knees.]
B. A sad afternoon
[Yuto didn't go back to Hajime. Instead he can be now found on the beach, sitting on some rock and looking at the water. His shoulders are slouched and he looks way more depressed than usually.
First the memory, now Sora is gone. Yuto almost can't believe it, but the truth can't be denied. The temple is gone, Sora is nowhere to be found.
Another friend who is gone. Suddenly a terrifying thought pops in his mind, that one day he'll wake up and won't find Hajime anywhere. Or that Lavi will be gone, or any other of his friends that are still here. When he thinks about it a frustrated grimace appears on his face and his hands curl into fists.
He feels he's failed again.]

Or that Lavi will be gone, or any other of his friends that are still here. When he thinks about it a frustrated grimace appears on his face and his hands curl into fists.
He feels he's failed again.]
B
Something about him seems a little different, enough to pique his interest and concern.]
Yuto?
[He sits beside him, a frown on his face as he takes in the expression on his friend's face.]
no subject
[He slowly turns his head to the other and after a moment nods in a greeting. There's something like a small sense of relief washing over him when he thinks to himself that at least Lavi is still here.
Soon, Yuto averts his gaze from his friend and goes back to staring at the water.]
no subject
[Because Yuto looks sadder than he usually does, something that makes Lavi's concern for his friend grow.
He peers at him curiously before gently bumping their shoulders together.]
You can tell me anything, you know.
no subject
Yet he still doesn't reply right away and even when he does, he tries to keep his voice calm.]
A friend of mine - Sora - is gone.
[There's nothing else to add here, right? Yuto sighs.]
no subject
[What can he say to that? He doesn't know how close Sora and Yuto are and he's only ever met Sora once briefly.
For a moment, there's some sort of anxiety that swells inside of him.]
...How did you find that out?
no subject
...I remembered something from the past and I wanted to talk to Sora about it.
[He speaks in a quiet tone.]
no subject
Today's not really Yuto's day, is it? He remains quiet, seemingly thoughtful, before he wraps an arm around Yuto's shoulders and tug him into a side hug.]
no subject
He doesn't say anything, trying to find comfort in Lavi's presence and closeness.]
no subject
Eventually, he speaks up:]
If you still want to talk about it, I'm here for you. I'm not Sora, but never hesitate to talk to me about anything if it troubles you.
[He ducks his head a bit, giving Yuto a small smile.] Or if not, we can just take a walk somewhere.
no subject
We... can go somewhere.
[His answer is quiet.]
no subject
[With that, he'll get up to his feet and offers Yuto his hand.]
no subject
And then he'll pull himself together. He doesn't have any other choice anyway.]
no subject
Either way, he does start walking, releasing Yuto's hand in the process.]
At least Sora went home peacefully? [It's better than being murdered, and Lavi feels like bringing it up would be a bad idea. Besides, he'd rather not plant that thought in his head.]
no subject
[There's some doubt in his voice.]
We don't know what exactly happened.
[He sounds so pessimistic about this, but this isn't the first time he goes through this. Of course, he wants to believe that Sora is safe wherever he is right now, but... he remembers how Yuya and Vector disappeared.]
no subject
[He gives a shrug.]
You wouldn't be doing yourself any good to think that only bad things will happen. People come and go, and sometimes, they come back, but in the meantime, it's nice to think that there safe and happy wherever they are.
[He's only lost one person here whom he was close to; and that was by murder of all things.
Lavi peers at him.]
But this is just me thinking aloud. [And here he thought he could get pessimistic.]
A
Being so close means he has no trouble hearing Yuto's anguished cry, and his immediate, instinctive assumption is that someone's hurt a friend of his. It's only on approach that his mind kicks properly into gear and points out that it's probably his friend who owned this temple, but whatever the reason, as soon as he sees Yuto, he charges over and crouches down by him.]
Are you hurt? [For now, he may as well pretend he didn't hear it. Asking "are you alright" has never seemed right to him in situations like this.]
no subject
Shun...
[He uses the other's name like he did when they were turned into children. Then he starts shaking his head with a deep frown.]
No, I'm not.
[He hesitates as if meaning to say something else, but instead he just casts a glance at the place where Sora's temple used to be.]
no subject
You knew whoever owned this temple. [It's not a question, and he lets out a heavy breath.] I passed where that Roxas kid had his earlier, and that one's gone as well. I don't think I ever met the person who lived here, but it sounds like there's been a few losses.
[After a moment or two of mulling on it, he adds one more thing.] If you want to talk about it, I'll listen.
[It's the least he could do. If Yuto only knew that.]
B
It's clear she's been crying as she steps out on the beach and finds a single solitary figure there. Uncertain about who he is, she approaches hesitantly, not wanting to intrude but hoping maybe he knew something she didn't. She still didn't want to believe they were gone. ]
Were you... looking for Sora?
no subject
Yes.
[Only when he says that he realizes that the girl looks like she's been crying. Yuto frowns immediately as he wonders how many people is going to miss Sora and feel sad over his disappearance.]
You were looking for him, too?
no subject
Yeah. And Roxas. His temple is gone, too. I couldn't find either one of them.
[ Fingers clenched into a small fist, she glances over at the other boy on the beach. ]
That means they're not here anymore, doesn't it?
no subject
[The information is shocking to him. He didn't check Roxas' temple, afraid that if he meets Roxas the god would be devastated about Sora's disappearance... But they're both gone.
For a moment, Yuto just looks at the girl helplessly, before he closes his eyes and nods.]
...Yes.
[They're both gone.]
no subject
[ She sinks down to crouch on the sand beside him, arms wrapped about her knees. ]
Were they your friends, too?
B
She doesn't know that just yet!
With that said, she simply popped on right over before flashing a bright smile]
Well, hello there! Does someone need to turn that frown upside down?
no subject
I'll be fine.
[He sounds tired and definitely depressed and that's far from being fine.]
no subject
[Just saying!]
no subject
Does it bother you? I can go somewhere else if it does.
[And he'll still be alone!]
no subject
Yeah but you going to have a friend with you or something?
no subject
[He... doesn't know if he wants to go to any of his friends now.]
no subject
Any reason why? Yeah, I know we just met but you can always tell ol' reliable Mabel, right?
no subject
[He says that and turns away from her.]
no subject
[She shouted before walking up toward him. Sorry, Yuto, you're stuck with her]
no subject
[A pause.]
Maybe I want to be alone?
no subject
[She said before catching up to him!]
Especially in a place like this, no one really wants to be sad!
B
Yuto-san? How are you?
[Is there something wrong...?]
no subject
Only when Yuto looks away he finally speaks:]
Do you know that people sometimes disappear from this place?
no subject
Is that... So?
[There's some tension he's sensing here.]
no subject
Sometimes gods or shinki go missing all of the sudden. They disappear without trace. Nobody is sure what happens to them, but sometimes they come back.
[He sounds like he's just informing the other of this, but he sounds grim and depressed when he speaks.
Wondering what even came over him, Yuto closes his eyes and shakes his head. Then he looks at Shion.]
I'm sorry, that was out of the blue.
[But maybe at least he avoided answering the how are you question.]
no subject
He moves closer to stand next to Yuto.]
Is there someone you're missing who vanished, Yuto-san?
[It's quite obvious, after all.]
no subject
Yes.
[This is not something he can hide, but he's not going to go into details.]
no subject
I'm sorry. That must be hard.
[He fiddles with the clasp on his jacket.]
This place ... Can be cruel. Yet, the chances to make new friends is irreplaceable.
