August Days
Who: Aymeric and CR (Prompt 1) and OPEN
When: August 14-20 ICly, rest of August oocly
Where: Forseti's Temple, The Far Shore, Near Shore, mainly Tokyo
What: Why flowers are bad, GODDAMN CAT, and an Ishgardian attempts to tourist in one of the largest cities in Japan
1. Red Flowers (Major Spoilers for Heavensward) *Closed to CR only*
[It was unusual for such flowers to spring out of Forseti's temple grounds given that the occupant was not even a novice when it came to gardening. The hawks did not know what to make of them so they stayed on the trees and roof, keeping watch if they did more than sprout. The owner had never seen them in his homeland so like most who were curious, Aymeric wanted to get a closer look at the ones within the outside cracks of his main walkway.]
Peculiar flowers...why are they here? Mayhap due to the recent celebration?
[He kneels down to get a better look but he freezes. He swears he just heard a voice just now...and something familiar about it.]
2. That Darn Cat! (Open)
[Ever seen a old white fluff cat wandering around the Far Shore for some odd reason? Did he bite or claw you when you tried to pet him and you're not a child? Did you catch him fighting another cat and attempted to break it apart? Or maybe he was playing with some shiny toy? Or maybe you just saw him and decided to follow the crazy beast back to his lair.
Either way, the cat has an owner and if you see him, you may want to explain what happened.]
3. An Ishgardian in Tokyo (Open)
...what is a cosplayer?
[The one time Aymeric decides to venture somewhere not in Europe or Heligoland, someone decides to ask him that due to his pointy ears. All he wants to do is see what the big deal is about Tokyo and why this Tower was a good thing. But he thought that no one would notice him in a crowd...despite being 6'5. Hells, he's not even wearing his armor! Too hot for it.
That just means that he has to go to default for now; Near Shore residents may not be able to see him but Far Shore folks can.]

[He's daring you.]
no subject
You were saying?
no subject
I feel that you are using your height strength against me, and I don't think I approve of this.
no subject
[But for now, he's taking him inside and away from flower influence....and potential eavesdroppers.]
no subject
At least Niles isn't around to start making lewd faces...

[Leo sighs.]
...your bedroom? Or the library?
no subject
Library might be best.
no subject
Alright. You can put me down now, I promise I won't run outside to burn the flowers.
no subject
My apologies but it seems we know nothing of the flowers that appeared nor what other powers they have. I did not want anything to happen to you if there was more to them than just voices.
no subject
I would have weathered whatever blow. You looked horrified. I couldn't stand that.
no subject
I am not accustomed to hearing the voices of those whom I ordered to be stopped by any means necessary but only when I slumber sometimes. But you mentioned your mother before...what was she like?
no subject
Leo squeezes back, not looking at Aymeric as he thinks.]
...I think, before she had me, she was if not kind woman than a good one, or at least the stories I heard from before she had me lead me to believe that. When I was born, though, she realized she had a chance in the succession games and all goodness was quickly replaced by a desire to see me as heir apparent. My eldest brother wasn't born the strong paladin he is now--he had to work hard for it--and she thought I could overtake him despite being younger. But I'm a natural mage, not a natural swordsman.
[He scoffs a little.]
Mother wasn't too pleased with that, and even less pleased when I was six and told her I was going to study magic more than the sword because I was never going to be as good with it as Xander was shaping up to be. Nohr has two divine weapons, you see, and despite Brynhildr being the more finicky and harder to control of the two, Siegfried requires a lot of physical strength and skill to wield.
[Needless to say, Leo knew from an early age he really didn't want to rule and was not afraid to make it unlikely.]
But she couldn't have that, so she tried to trade me and my body for an ally in the court, who I then killed in panic. And then I killed a few of my half-siblings and one of my father's other wives before one of them killed her when I was not quite eleven.
[Please remember that during the bitty event, he was ten.]
So...scheming, vicious, and in some way broken?
no subject
It might be due to being Ishgardian or maybe Eorzean but that made his blood boil. It can't be as he assumes...right?
He'll guide him to a couch because this may be a long night. Even so, he's furious.]
Power corrupts no matter which realm you hail from. But to go those lengths to seek it is disgusting. There will always be a struggle but I must admit this makes me feel strongly that words cannot convey.
no subject
He sighs, leaning against Aymeric's arm as he's guided to the sofa.]
It was over a decade ago, Aymeric, and I had already accepted that it was necessary after I'd done it. A child murderer sounded nicer than the other option.
[Yeah, it's what Aymeric is thinking.]
...still, hearing her rage at me for it was upsetting.
no subject
Even after so long they can stir our emotions and twist them. We needs not to rush tonight, tis a safe place this temple is.
[Because what the hell is speaking on his own shit]
no subject
[But he agrees.]
And what did you hear? You looked ready to pass out, Aymeric.
no subject
...I heard my father and his knights.
no subject
[No judgement. Leo hadn't pried, after all.]
Heavensward Spoilers as well as CW: implied torture
Archbishop Thordan VII was the man who sired me, father by blood only. I was taken in by the Borel family because the viscount's wife was unable to give him a child, but even that did not stop him from treating me as his own. It was not until I had almost become of age that I learned of Thordan being my birth father and had hoped joining the Temple Knights would help me learn more about him.
But he and his personal guard, known as the Heavens Ward, knew of the origins of Ishgard and the bloody war we had against dragonkind and kept it from the people. I thought my lineage to him would help...but all it gained was the title of heretic and locked away deep within the Vault. And any Ishgardian knows that once you go in, it would take a miracle by Halone herself to set you free.
You...have noticed my scars? Some of old battles during my years as a temple knight but recent ones came from my 'questioning'. It did not help that one of my father's men was a former inquistor and had a penchant of doing anything to get answers.
[He's implying that yes, he got tortured quite a bit down there.]
My father wanted to keep order in Ishgard and if that meant silencing his own flesh and blood to do it then who could disobey? It was after that I bescheed a good friend of mine: to stop my father and his men by any means. Even if they had to end his life.
no subject
It's a very good thing he's already dead. I'd have found a way to kill him from here, if he wasn't. Torture, if it's used at all, should not be used on one's family.
[Because Nohr does occasionally use torture. It's a thing. Leo doesn't personally agree with it unless it's "send Niles after them".]
Cw: mention of child endangerment
While I was not the one who put the sword to him, there were those whom accused me of patricide and did not want to see change happen. And they wished to silence me even after the death of the archbishop and his knights.
[And as to show it, he takes one of Leo's hands and moves it under his shirt, close to his stomach where he can feel raised flesh; smooth but a clear sign of where a scar remains.]
They thought to set aflame to parts of the city, to convince a young man to kill me discretely in the streets and even taken hostages for bargaining chips: my life for theirs. And when we stormed the Vault, they had the nerve to turn their blades on them. People who knew nothing of combat and terrified...and those men cried out how it was the Fury's will. A priest went as far as to take a young girl and throw her off the roof because of this belief. I will be forever grateful for Vidofinir for arriving when she did and saved her but even so...I knew changing the city would be difficult and to help heal old wounds would take time. But for that to occur it still unnerves me.
no subject
He tries to stay calm, though, running his fingertips over the stab wound.]
And you're doing this all by yourself. Xander is in a similar situation, now that he's king and we have to undo years of cruel Nohrian rule while keeping our already poor population from getting poorer, but he has me to help him. He has allies in Valla, with Corrin and Azura. We're still worried about assassinations and revolts and all of that, but we have each other. You...you never mention other people. It's always just you at the forefront of these stories, Aymeric.
no subject
I know that I cannot do everything alone as my second in command would tell me and try to keep me from moving as much if I sustain injury. Tis no surprise if she would find a way to keep me in bed, she would do it. And Fury strike me down if I did not recall those of the Watch, the men and women who are lowborn but protect Ishgard just as the Temple Knights do.
[He feels that hand trembling and squeezes it lightly.]
Nay, those are just a few from how I have seen events. There are much to them from others than myself.
no subject
[Trust Leo to focus on that and not the heroics. He's no hero, so why would he?]
Is there anyone you can trust to help you see that your changes are made? Or is it just you, painting an ever-growing target on your back?
