In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

Aah. [She nods. So it's that sort of situation, huh. Then it begs the question, why did they bring these new people in to begin with? But perhaps asking that aloud, here, is not a smart move.]

Really? I must say, I've seen more natural red hair than I have blue. [Severa, Gerome, Laurent, Sully, Cordelia, Miriel, Ricken, Gaius, Gregor, Cherche, Anna...red or reddish hair is INCREDIBLY common in her world.]

[Not the smart move as in no one knows, even the old gods, as to why all the new people are taking over.]

Mustn't be a recessive gene in your world then. Where I'm from, red hair is due to certain alleles and lack of pigments and and certain hormones. [It makes you stand out and there's a lot of people who hate red heads just for their hair.]

Er...perhaps. I must admit, I know nothing of...alleles...es.

Alleles are mutations within a gene. An alternative to the original chromosome. So technically red hair is a mutation from the more common hair colors of brown and black. Basic biology, though I find that not everyone is familiar with the subject. Science was my major when I attended college.

...Again, I admit that I know nothing of such things. [Damn. Laurent would find it so interesting, though. He'd probably pick up all these concepts in a flash.] I had no chance to attend a university, and even so, I doubt they would have knowledge on such subjects.

I do not. Though I was given one...[She seems to have managed to just. Fit it in one of the loops on her belt, but she brings it forth to show him.] And I am surprised at its weight for such a slight object.

It's because of the processors and such inside, and the battery is as compact as they can get it without exploding.

I mean, if I can teach Mr. Intros-Way-Too-Much-Owain to use the phone, I can teach you. You look a lot smarter than him anyways. Know how to turn it on at least?

[Yeah she did not understand any of that, but there IS something she did understand. Lucina's eyes widen considerably.]

Pardon, did you just...did you say Owain?

[It's okay, Lucina, you don't have to understand it to be able to use it.]

Yeah. Know a dude with that name?

[She pushes herself up to stand, a little wobbly from the sudden shift.]

And if he truly talked that way, he - he cannot be any other Owain! Is he here?

Nope. Look... the guy was from when I was a shinki. But he left a bunch of voicemails, a lot of them thanking me for showing him how to use the phone. The number attached to it? Disconnected.

[Sorry about that.]

But he sounds like a good guy. Just.... long winded and went on and on about darkness and hands and swords...

[Is that something that can happen? Can shinki become gods? Can gods become shinki? Lucina has to steady herself a bit, looking down on the ground. She doesn't really understand the phone, or numbers being disconnected, but from the way he's talking, it sounds like Owain isn't here anymore. She swallows thickly.]

...Still...that does sound just like him. Exactly.

I know, it sounds weird. But I ain't the only one. Cho Hawkeye is in the same situation. [Hakkai. Not Hawkeye...] Or gods becoming shinki. Haven't met one of those, but it's not like they'll remember.

[Nari taps the front of his phone a few times, turning the screen on an off.]

I'm sorry. It sucks hearing a friend isn't here, but... if he was a shinki, he wouldn't have remembered you. Maybe this way is a lot nicer for both of ya.

[Can she not think about the idea of her cousin, who she's certain was alive last she saw him, having to die and forget his whole life to be reborn as a shinki? Thanks.]

...... I can't even imagine that... I don't have family other than my parents and big sister, and I would't want to see any of them here.

[Who here could have known Owain? Were they still here? Or had all trace of him but these messages vanished with him?]

... relief. That might be the best feeling to go with. Relief that you don't see him here, him not knowing you, pretending you don't have to know him. I'd go with that.

[But even so...he's her cousin. She still wants to know what happened to him here, what happened for him to come here at all.]

........... Promise me that you'll be kind to the shinki you meet. I don't think I liked being one. I don't get warm and fuzzy thinking about it. They're fate......... it's pretty cruel, in a way.

[There's a slow pause, and Lucina tilts her head juuuuuust slightly, as if unsure she heard him correctly.]

Why...would I not be kind? I don't understand. They are our partners, are they not? Perhaps not the same, but...at their cores...are we not all displaced from what we know?

Shinki are different in that.......... well, the dead thing. They know they are dead, but they don't talk about their deaths. Don't bring it up. So in a way you can treat them like your partners.... but with kiddie gloves, too. If you meet someone who knows about your shinki from before they died, don't, please, don't ask them about what they were like and so on. I've browsed the network including past posts and it's.... they can't learn things about their pasts. [He sounds a tad distressed.] Sometimes they learn on their own. No one knows why or how.

Oh - yes, I know that much. I won't say anything about it. [She'd already had the very upsetting experience of seeing her new perky buddy die at something she has no name for.] But...hm. I think...it would be a poor thing to ask others how they used to be, if they're not the same here. And I don't - I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him.

[Prompto is so good, Nari. He's just. He exudes good. She can't let him get hurt.]

But I wouldn't want to treat a shinki as lesser because of that. It seems to me they put quite a lot on the line in that position, and...I want to respect that. Does that make sense?

[Hearing her talk like that does put him at ease. So, this was a god that he could see having a good relationship with their shinki. That's reassuring.]
