The flame inside the breathing ashes
Who: Lavi and Everyone
What: Aftermath of various things
Where: Far Shore
When: August 17-24
Warnings: None at the moment!
[A. August 17th - Afternoon]
[After his fight with Lux and talk with Allen, anyone who would have tried to reach Lavi will discover radio silence on his end. He left a note to Cardia explaining he’d be out all day. He wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone right now, not after the parting words Lux had left him with.
Avoiding everyone seemed to be the best option right now, even if he would argue instead that he was just grabbing some fresh air.
It’s why he’s chosen to walk his temple’s latest addition around the Far Shore instead.
”Someone like you should have never been given a name to begin with!”
His jaw clenches at the memory of it, but it was a mistake to take his eye off the dog since Sisi runs off and Lavi’s quick to run after it.]
Sisi, wait!
[B. I Lost You Again]
[Sometime, at some point during the month, people might find Lavi sitting at an area where Allen’s temple used to be. He has a knee drawn up to his chest, a hand covering his face as if he’s trying hard to ignore the sudden pang of loneliness that hits him. Fortunately, Sisi seems to be his company today, too, sitting beside Lavi and has his head rested on Lavi’s other leg.
The redhead gently gives him a scratch, though he looks distracted.]
Damn it, Allen.
[Sisi whimpers a bit as Lavi retracts his hand to mess with a pair of white gloves that he found - the same kind of gloves he’s seen Allen wear before.
He grits his teeth, the other hand moving away from his face and he slams a fist onto the ground.]
Damn it.
[C. He’s an Exorcist Once More]
[Somewhere in a clearing, there’s Lavi holding what appears to be a hammer that might look a little too heavy all things considering.
He has his eye closed, the head of the hammer pointed upwards as giant seals appear around him, glowing brightly. Gritting his teeth, his eye opens as one of the seals stops and glows a bright red.]
Hi Ban: Gouka Kaijin!
[Slamming the hammer down with the seal stamped onto it, a torrent of flames erupt, taking on the form of a snake that surrounds Lavi briefly before shooting upwards into the sky and disappearing in bits of ashes.]

That does seem like a leap. Are you that type of person yourself?
[He's noticed the similarities between their smiles, and he remembers Lavi being a coldly withdrawn, too-smart child. They are not that different.]
no subject
The smile shifts.]
I could be, but who knows, really. I don't even understand myself sometimes.
[Between being Lavi and being Bookman Jr., it really can be difficult to split the two of them apart.]
no subject
That's enough to let his defensive hackles settle. Lavi's younger than he is, after all, if Hakkai's any judge; somewhere in his late teens, or a very baby-faced early twenties. And Hakkai has not grown into understanding himself all the time, not yet.
His voice is gentle, but there's a hint of irony in it, too.]
The trouble with friendship is that, first, it requires trust.
no subject
[His voice is different now, taking on something similar Hakkai's heard once before when Lavi was a kid.
In a way, it held some innocence to it, but worn as if there was a weight in his words that can't be released.
Hakkai is older, a god now, but they were similar in ways that made Lavi want to snark at him and find some way to get him to snap because of how much he could grow to dislike those similarities. It's evident Lavi doesn't want to go that far, to risk anything so much more than he already has, so he doesn't.
Still young, forever stuck at an age where he won't fully mature but he's seen too much.]
Even trusting others a little may not be enough.
no subject
[Lavi sounds, suddenly, as though he's taking this conversation much more seriously.
Hakkai doesn't mind reciprocating with honesty himself-- after all, perhaps they do have some similarities. Perhaps a bit of advice could help Lavi find a better path for himself than Hakkai's. Perhaps not, but, Hakkai supposes, it can't hurt to try.]
It takes time, of course, but there are people in the world worth trusting.
no subject
[It's hard to tell what's going on through Lavi's mind, but the honesty is still there. Perhaps there's more honesty Hakkai is used to hearing from the redhead, but there's a flicker of something - colder, darker, more like the child he once was.
More like the Bookman he's supposed to be.
Then the inflection is gone, his tone lighter.]
I suppose you're right about that. If I can't even trust the people I've gotten close to now, how can I ever really trust anyone?
no subject
[Hakkai's smile tilts a little oddly, and he raises his eyebrows at Lavi.]
I've only ever trusted one person that quickly, and she was family.
Don't give up too easily. Not even if a few months is all you remember.
no subject
[And that's Allen.
It's the only reason why he's allowed the god to stab him with that sword of his.
Something flickers, another shift of expression. Only a few months of memories and there's still more, something else that Lavi could say, but doesn't.
No one else needs to know about forty-nine names.]
Right...remember... [He's already hating the fact he can't remember. Why you gotta do this to him? Sighing, he holds his head as if a migraine was forming.]
no subject
I only mean that, when your experience is no more than a few months old, a month seems longer than it is.
[He's not telling Lavi he'll need to remember to understand himself, or need to remember to have friends: but he doesn't say that aloud. Even to name those doubts feels cruel, when he knows the frustration of trying to get back something he can't quite recall.]
no subject
[He drops his hand, nodding to Hakkai.]
In any case, I should bring Sisi home and feed him. [Sisi perks up at the mention of food, immediately moving over to Lavi.]
no subject
I see he agrees with you.
Well, it's good to see you looking well, at least, Lavi. Good afternoon.
no subject
Good afternoon to you, too, Hakkai.
[And with a nod, he leads Sisi away from the god.]
