So much to do, and all the time to do it. [Open and Closed Prompts]
Who: Yukine and you! Open and closed prompts.
What: Being idle around the Near Shore, and working hard on the Far Shore.
When: August 18 and 19
Where: Various places on the Near Shore; around the school and Hakkai's temple on the Far Shore.
Warning: None
Stuff happened. And as a result of that stuff, Yukine had even more time on his hands than usual.
So he threw himself into his studies, as well as catching up on some other projects.
--August 18--
Garden
In the morning, Yukine can be found on the Near Shore. Along a particular riverbank is a large lone cherry tree. (Not that it's easy to tell that it's a sakura when it's not spring.) And not far from that tree is a garden. Full of tall sunflowers, hollyhock, and various other bright summer-blooming flowers, it is a strange but welcome sight along the greenbelt of the riverbank.
Among the flowers is Yukine. Tying the sunflowers to poles, clearing away fallen flowers, snagging any weeds that dare appear, it is clear he is diligently tending the garden.
His expression is quietly satisfied as he works, and he won't mind being approached at all, even if it would be surprising to him.
Math class
The afternoon is class. From one until three Yukine studies math with Hakkai and takes advantage of the free study time. Math being one of his better and more liked subjects, he's in a good mood as he studies.
Meeting
[Closed to Chinatsu]
After school he'd arranged to meet a shinki that is having problems because her god is gone, and she's worried about being basically defenseless. He'd agreed to meet with her in person to talk about it, so he waits outside the school, sitting under the shade of a tree in the yard with a notebook balanced on his leg. Might as well get some homework done as he waits. He's not worried about being recognized- his name is visible above the collar of his shirt, after all.
--August 19--
English class
From nine until eleven in the morning, Yukine is forcing his way through English. At least Izumo as a teacher is pretty interesting, even if he can be awfully strict about some stuff.
But English free study... ugh. Save him, please.
Driving!
[Closed to Hakkai]
Yukine cannot escape English class fast enough, especially since he has something good waiting for him. For an hour Hakkai will give him a driving lesson in Jeep!
Yukine comes to Hakkai's temple prepared with a small box of bought cookies for Hakkai-san as the teacher, and a bit of cooked fish to offer Jeep as the vehicle.
Giving up the offerings, Yukine says the traditional "If you would, please..." Please take it easy on him? It's his first time.
[Open, with Hakkai]
Once they get underway, passers-by are welcome to notice the young shinki behind the driver's wheel instead of the adult, and try to make conversation. (Parallel parking is tricky, okay? Maybe don't distract him while he's trying to pull that off-)
Wandering the Near Shore
With a few hours to burn after lunch, Yukine wanders the Near Shore as he sometimes does. He likes window shopping around the clothing stores, and even though he doesn't play any games himself he'll watch people in the game centers. He spends some time at a garden supply store, and as the afternoon gets later he'll work his way back home, stopping at the supermarket on the way to pick up some things for dinner.
[Closed to Yuto]
Even in the busy shopping district, a head of spiky black and purple hair is hard to miss. Waving a bit to get Yuto's attention, Yukine comes closer.
"Hi! It's been a while. What you doin' down here?" And even as he speaks he's trying to think of when the last time they met actually was ... oh. Yah. It'd be during that whole kid thing, wouldn't it.
[[I prefer prose, but bracket form is totally fine too!
If anything needs a tweak or you'd like a specialized prompt, just let me know!]]

Garden
"Is this your garden?"
The question is asked as soon as she spots Yukine. He's staking the flowers so they stay upright, isn't he? This must be all of his work, how cool!
no subject
And her words hit so close to the story Suzuha had told him about Tomoko-
He shakes his head, both to chase away that thought, and to answer her question.
"No, not really. I'm... taking care of it for a friend." A friend who won't return to it.
"You're from the Far Shore?" It's actually more of a statement than a question, but he'll fall of the side of being polite.

Garden!
Not having spotted the shinki working in amongst the tall sunflowers just yet, she claps her hands together in delight as she bends to inspect a bright patch of flowers.
"Ohhh, they're so pretty!"
[ Apologies ahead of time if I forget halfway through this thread and default to brackets out of habit lmao. ]
no subject
At the cheerful voice appreciating the flowers he pokes his head out slightly to see who it is, fully expecting it to simply be a passing human. It takes him a beat longer to realize it because she's so young, but it seems she's actually someone of the Far Shore.
He's not sure that she was actually speaking to him either, but from his (still partially hidden) position among the sunflowers he answers back,
"Um, thanks."
[[No worries at all! That happens to me too :3]]

Wandering
Spotting a familiar figure outside one of the arcades, he slows his board a little before skidding to a stop a few steps away and peering over Yukine's shoulder to see what's caught his attention.
"Yo."
no subject
Whirling around, he's relieved that at least it's a familiar face. His surprised expression gives way to a small smile.
"Yo. It's been a while. How are things going?"

Wandering
Needless to say, stuff like this is the stuff that's caught her attention. Seriously, there's a shirt that says "With Agave Syrup" in there, why is that a thing?? Lucina has no idea, but she's looking into the storefront that proudly displays it, and she's not even cringing, and as Yukine passes by, you'll hear her say aloud,
"Interesting...so this is what the people of this realm like to wear? It's all so colorful..."
no subject
Ah. Well.
That'd kinda explain the weird choice of words. Weird newbies.
With a shrug he stops and turns fully towards her. "Actually, not as many people wear this stuff as you might think. It's kinda... fringe."
As if you have a perfect fashion sense Yukine."If you're looking for normal clothes, you can do better than this."(no subject)

[Yuto looks at the other boy, then he shrugs.]
Nothing. Just... talking a walk, I guess. [Quite strange, right? Considering that he doesn't like crowded places. Maybe he just needed some kind of distraction... because he's thinking way too much about what happened back then when he went to visit Lavi. Even now he frowns to himself and tries to focus on something else.
Oh right. When was the last time he saw Yukine?]
It sure has been a while. [A small smile suddenly shows on his face.] Are you still a rock-paper-scissors champion?
[He sounds amused. And yes, he remembers that.]
no subject
He smiles back, even though he feels his ears warm. That's a little embarrassing, but-!]
Heh. You bet. Were you serious about practicing?
[And he holds out his fist. Let's do this.]

Driving!
The dragon, who is still in dragon form draped comfortably across Hakkai's shoulders, eyes Yukine with all the dubiousness of a car debating whether he'll allow a young teen to learn to drive.
Hakkai turns his head, murmuring in Jeep's ear, "It would mean a great deal to him -- and of course if he's in any danger of hurting you, I would understand if you revoked permission...."
Jeep, still dubious, coos, and takes wing. An instant later, an antique Jeep settles to the ground in front of them. It's open across the top, a little dusty, boxy, and entirely without seatbelts; Hakkai heads for the driver's side door, and, politely, holds it open for Yukine.
no subject
Yukine peers curiously at the dragon when Hakkai starts whispering in his ear, worry creeping up on him. It'd all be for nothing if Jeep doesn't agree--
But whatever Hakkai-san said convinced him, and he sighs slightly in relief. Hurrying over to the driver's side with a smile he nods his thanks to Hakkai as he climbs in.
"Thanks, Jeep! I promise I'll be careful!"
To that end he instinctively searches for a seatbelt. All vehicles should have them, right? ... Except maybe dragons-turned-jeep?
"Uh, Hakkai-san, isn't there a seatbelt?"

Wandering
"Yeah, come by tomorrow and pick up your keys," Shizuo says to them, patting one of their shoulders so the group gets into an earlier called cab. Before turning to return to his post, the guy pauses- It's the eyes that has Shizuo recall having met Yukine before.
Actually, there's something a little different to Shizuo compared to the last time they crossed paths. He stood a little better and seemed to be more 'complete' in a way. "Hey, kid. It's been a while, huh?"
no subject
"It has been. Huh. I didn't realize I was so close to this place. Is the bar all fixed up, then?" And then the memory of when they'd last seen each other clicks-
"You said you'd treat me to some food next I was by."

Garden
It's while he's looking over one of his pictures that he notices a tuft of yellow hair among some of the flowers, and he carefully pushes through a few of them to investigate. And looks very surprised when the hair turns out to belong to Yukine.
"Yukine-kun! Hello! I didn't expect to find you in here."
no subject
"Wah-!" Yukine rocks back in surprise, falling out of his crouching stance. Happily he evades breaking any hollyhock stems, but his left hand squishes a marigold into the dirt.
"Suzugamori-sama! I'd say the same thing." Getting to his feet he wipes his hands on his pants to get the dirt off, then bends over to try and right the marigold. "What are you doing here?"

She's been very busy getting the school infirmary ready to open soon but she's taking a break from that today to do some other things. At the moment, she's currently inspecting this season's selection of fish but she glances over, she recognizes Yukine immediately from the school.
"Oh, hello. You're one of Hakkai-sama's students, aren't you?"
Ayumu's tone is cheerful and friendly as she turns a smile on the young man.
"I think I've seen you around."

And he grins, inordinately pleased at being called with –san when Hakkai isn’t.
“Yep, it’s my first go at it. It’s going not too badly, right?” Hakkai’s tips for how to line up for parking have worked really well, and … well, shifting will just take some practice.

Math/English your pick
Naturally, seeing the blond shinki instantly perks him up and he has to wonder over. When he can't see what Yukine is doing due to his own height, he hovers over him--probably getting in the way of his light. Goten is just curious but what he can see of what is being studied...looks way harder then what he's use to. How does Yukine do it?
Math-ish XD
This is about as complicated as it gets for work that Goten could catch him at.
Sensing something near him as a spiky-shaped shadow falls across his book he pauses in his note-taking and quickly looks over his shoulder, a stern expression on his face. But thankfully he finds only Goten, and fully visible at that. Smiling at the boy, Yukine turns around in his seat more.
"Geez, you startled me for a sec there. Good to see you here, Goten. How goes the battle against words and numbers?"
Ishhhhh~
Yukine doesn’t want to show off. Not at all~
Goten will enjoy the show regardless.
So kind ;A;
