So much to do, and all the time to do it. [Open and Closed Prompts]
Who: Yukine and you! Open and closed prompts.
What: Being idle around the Near Shore, and working hard on the Far Shore.
When: August 18 and 19
Where: Various places on the Near Shore; around the school and Hakkai's temple on the Far Shore.
Warning: None
Stuff happened. And as a result of that stuff, Yukine had even more time on his hands than usual.
So he threw himself into his studies, as well as catching up on some other projects.
--August 18--
Garden
In the morning, Yukine can be found on the Near Shore. Along a particular riverbank is a large lone cherry tree. (Not that it's easy to tell that it's a sakura when it's not spring.) And not far from that tree is a garden. Full of tall sunflowers, hollyhock, and various other bright summer-blooming flowers, it is a strange but welcome sight along the greenbelt of the riverbank.
Among the flowers is Yukine. Tying the sunflowers to poles, clearing away fallen flowers, snagging any weeds that dare appear, it is clear he is diligently tending the garden.
His expression is quietly satisfied as he works, and he won't mind being approached at all, even if it would be surprising to him.
Math class
The afternoon is class. From one until three Yukine studies math with Hakkai and takes advantage of the free study time. Math being one of his better and more liked subjects, he's in a good mood as he studies.
Meeting
[Closed to Chinatsu]
After school he'd arranged to meet a shinki that is having problems because her god is gone, and she's worried about being basically defenseless. He'd agreed to meet with her in person to talk about it, so he waits outside the school, sitting under the shade of a tree in the yard with a notebook balanced on his leg. Might as well get some homework done as he waits. He's not worried about being recognized- his name is visible above the collar of his shirt, after all.
--August 19--
English class
From nine until eleven in the morning, Yukine is forcing his way through English. At least Izumo as a teacher is pretty interesting, even if he can be awfully strict about some stuff.
But English free study... ugh. Save him, please.
Driving!
[Closed to Hakkai]
Yukine cannot escape English class fast enough, especially since he has something good waiting for him. For an hour Hakkai will give him a driving lesson in Jeep!
Yukine comes to Hakkai's temple prepared with a small box of bought cookies for Hakkai-san as the teacher, and a bit of cooked fish to offer Jeep as the vehicle.
Giving up the offerings, Yukine says the traditional "If you would, please..." Please take it easy on him? It's his first time.

Once they get underway, passers-by are welcome to notice the young shinki behind the driver's wheel instead of the adult, and try to make conversation. (Parallel parking is tricky, okay? Maybe don't distract him while he's trying to pull that off-)
Wandering the Near Shore
With a few hours to burn after lunch, Yukine wanders the Near Shore as he sometimes does. He likes window shopping around the clothing stores, and even though he doesn't play any games himself he'll watch people in the game centers. He spends some time at a garden supply store, and as the afternoon gets later he'll work his way back home, stopping at the supermarket on the way to pick up some things for dinner.

Even in the busy shopping district, a head of spiky black and purple hair is hard to miss. Waving a bit to get Yuto's attention, Yukine comes closer.
"Hi! It's been a while. What you doin' down here?" And even as he speaks he's trying to think of when the last time they met actually was ... oh. Yah. It'd be during that whole kid thing, wouldn't it.

"Everything looks really pretty, you must be very good at gardening... Your friend is lucky to have someone like you watching over everything, huh?" The thought is spoken with a soft chuckle.
As for his statement/question, she seems to puff up a little in pride as she replies, "I am! Soleil, mercenary and incarnation of Freyr. And yourself?"
Considering he brought it up, he's probably a Far Shore resident as well, she figures.

Ah. He's not surprised one bit to hear she's a god.
"Yukine, a shinki." He sticks with the simple introduction as always, giving his collarbone a tap with one finger. The kanji for his name is slightly visible above the collar of his shirt.
"You're not here alone, are you? It's not a good idea to come to the Near Shore without your shinki, you know."

"Pleasure to meet you, Yukine." Introductions are met with a cheery smile and genuine tone, neither of which falter when he poses that question. "Don't worry, I've got him right here." With that, she lightly taps the hilt of a sheathed sword strapped to her belt. "Wouldn't want him to get too lonely, you know?"
Besides that, "Are you out here alone?" It's probably a little different for shinki than gods, but not in any way that she's actually familiar with.

He gives the sword a faintly dubious glance. He... supposes so? Personally if Yato left him as swords all the time he'd go nuts. Heh, well, maybe that's why he didn't come with a sheath.
"Glad he's with you. You'd not believe how many gods and shinki wander down here alone." His tone clearly says 'way too many, and idiots all'.
"Yah. My god's an idiot. Anyway, I'm way more experienced than any of the new shinki." He shrugs dismissively. In other words, don't worry about it.

"Well, this place is still pretty unfamiliar to me. Not really anything like I've seen before... It feels kind of silly to not take someone along if you're going exploring in it, right?" A fighting partner, a friend, a wing-man... you know. "Hmm, but you sound like you really know your stuff, in that case. You must be a really strong shinki!"
But, that does make her think, being in a vibrant new place like this, that fairly odd glance Yukine gave her shinki... "Oh! I wonder if he'd like to see these flowers, too. Come on out, Herbert!"
And when she calls him, her shinki shifts fluidly out of his vessel form. As a person, Herbert is a tall, fairly broad man with a pretty serious demeanor. A total opposite of the breezy, cheery god who wields him, but there's a certain kind of fondness in her smile as she reaches up and pats him squarely on the back. "Take a look around, big guy!"

When the god calls back her shinki he's somewhat deflated by it being a soulless one. They still creep him out a bit. But he stubbornly doesn't let it show.
"Watch where you put your feet," warns Yukine as the guy does as commanded and looks around him.
Turning his attention back he nods at Soleil-sama. "Anyways, yes. If you've still got questions, you can ask me. The new gods are doin' pretty well with orienting the others that show up, but I can help you out too."

Soleil, meanwhile, seems more than comfortable with keeping her attention on Yukine. It's pretty cute how seriously he's adapted to a mentor role in the wake of all these new arrivals.
"I'll have to keep that offer in mind!" But, it's not like she came here with any specific questions in mind to throw at anyone who might have answers. On top of that, he probably feels like he's usually up to his neck in questions with the sheer volume of newcomers, and it is a lot for the newcomers to deal with. So, for now, just some enjoyment of their surroundings seems to be in order. "It must take a lot of time to tend to all of these flowers... would you like me to help out a little while I'm here?"

"I- suppose so. If you're really wanting to or whatever. I just met you, so it's not like you have to or anything. You can just enjoy the garden."

"Well, honestly, I think it would be nice to learn a little more about this kind of thing, you know? Start a garden outside of my temple, something like that would be really nice."
The sunflowers, in particular, she's fond of. They'd really brighten up the grounds, for sure.

But she's not really doing it for the sake of a challenge, but maybe a fun past time, something to help pass the time and add some cheer to the area.
"I think some books might be helpful, I'm a total beginner with this."

Turning back to the sunflowers he'd been tending, he starts retying a string binding a pole to the stalk.
"If you want somethin' hands-on though, I suppose you could give me a hand with this. This garden isn't protected from the wind, so it's good to tie the sunflowers up like this so they don't get blown over. But as they grow the string gets too tight, so you have to retie it. Like this."
As he explains, his hands move in now well-practiced movements to retie the string.

"Sometimes it's easier to learn by actually doing something instead of just following instructions, you know?"
So, helping stake the sunflowers is good and practical hands-on experience! Can't argue with that kind of offer, and after getting a good idea of what he wants, she moves on over to another flower, loosening the string up and retying it easily enough, though not with the same sort of speed that Yukine displayed.
