Who: Emizel and OPEN
When: Aug 18th and forward, after the reaper meeting
Where: Various (Thanatos' Temple, in and around the Near Shore)
What: [Catch-All] Local death god going about his day, and totally trying not to be bothered by demon racism earlier that week. Taking care of butterflies (Sorta). Some closed off prayers to come later.
[A - Thanatos' Temple]
[Emizel was not too incredibly worried about staying hidden so long as he was at his temple. Besides if anyone really took William that seriously and wanted to do some demon discrimination of their own, a red flowery field was likely not their first spot to look.]
[It just gave Emizel time to focus on more important matters. Like figuring out how to raise his personal image with the delicate insects he's stuck with. Since he apparently can't replace them.]
C'moooon, can you at least do something useful? Any special attacks? Some secret I should know about? [Emizel was mostly submerged by red poppies, laying on his stomach and apparently trying to communicate with one such butterfly.] I-I am supposed to be your God, so I know you should hear me.
[The butterfly flapped its wings. --Wait it actually understood him then?? It gently took off to the air elegantly and... with all its might, landed directly on the brim of the demon's hood. Along with the ten or so other butterflies that had been crawling on him all this time.]
Oh come on!! [He sat up again and in his outburst some of the butterflies scattered away in a small cluster. A few going up high, others finding nearby flowers to rest on instead.]
[B - Near Shore]
[Emizel had not really explored much of the Near Shore yet, unless he was requested to do something. Since laying low was probably a good idea for awhile, he can't really get much lower than the human realm.]
[Surprisingly it was not the Emizel causing some attention, but rather a tiny fuzzy blue butterfly phasing in and out of existence for mortals. Only at the times it decided to fly around on its own though. Most of the time it preferred to hang on to Emizel in some way.]

ide, but I think my brain just autocorrect it anyway
You...think so? [Still doesn't know himself if that's a complement or an insult to demon pride there.]
no subject
He's not going to be ashamed of it! No one's had a problem with it so far! And Emizel's an actual demon anyway.]
... I don't think I'm all human either, so I'm not about to judge.
no subject
[How would Tsuzuki know? Actually, there is was he could know.]
What are you then?
no subject
[Now he's even more embarrassed. Being probably-not-really-human is one thing, but having to admit to a demon that he doesn't even know what he really is?
Ugh.]
... But if I get hurt, I heal in seconds, and apparently my energy's weird.
no subject
Fast regeneration could mean a lot of things... Oh--can you regrow limbs and stuff??
no subject
[He shrugs helplessly. Botan hadn't gone into details, and he hadn't wanted details, either.]
And I haven't lost any limbs yet! I don't want to test that!
no subject
Ah, a description like that could mean anything. ...But yeah it probably means you're not human either.
no subject
[If it happens he guesses he'll find out just how much he can regrow, but in the meantime? No way is he trying that. He shudders.]
... Yeah, I figure I'm probably something like a demon. It's hard to tell, when I pretty much look human, and I don't remember.
no subject
...But you don't look like any of those.
I mean it does take a lot to actually kill a demon, and we do recover a bit faster than humans, but unless you got healing magic it takes more than a few seconds.
no subject
[Ew! What do you think he is, kid?! Tsuzuki shudders in real horror.]
... I'm not doing anything to make it happen, it just does. I guess it could be healing magic, though.
no subject
Hnnn...I kinda doubt it's healing magic. You can't just cast that without noticing it. Besides, demons aren't naturally born with it, it has to be taught.
no subject
Well, I don't really know what I am. I don't think I know all that much about demons.
no subject
[There's...a lot of things Emizel's learned from the short time he's been here.]
no subject
[But seriously: who knows? Not Tsuzuki. He's more or less human-shaped, and that seems a little more like a demon than like any other sort of spiritual being he can think of.]
no subject
I wouldn't rule it out that quickly. You'll never know.
[Still...was it really safe for a shinki to worry about their race that much? Emizel has never gave it that much thought before. It probably is normal for most shinki to be human given the nature of them, but what about the ones that weren't or hybrid? If they stumble on their old lives in the process...]
no subject
[He shrugs, and rushes ahead to the next topic. He's not sure how safe it is to worry about this either, even if his own past is a mystery; first, he's never sure how anyone's going to take it, and second, well... even if what he knows about himself is limited to what Botan had mentioned and the undeniably inhuman speed of his healing, it feels too close to asking questions about what he's forgotten.
He must once have known the answer, after all.]
But anyway, I don't think it's necessarily a big deal, being a demon. You're a god now, right?
no subject
[At least, for the most part that's what the god statuses were, right? With a few other bonuses. Given just the vast variety of them.]
no subject
[He looks down at his own hands, hesitant for a moment.]
Being a shinki is different. I mean, for one thing, we don't remember anything, so it's not like I can say, "Oh, I changed," or whatever.
-- But I'd thought gods changed, too. At least a little. All that responsibility, right? Do you think you're the same as you were before?
[His tone is oddly wistful.]
no subject
[He sounds a bit more serious about this than what might be expected. At least from someone so small.]
Sure I got other things I didn't have before. Like my very own domain, a new power, and more. But no matter how many changes I go through, I will always be a demon first. But more importantly, I will always be me.
I know it's bad for shinki to go looking for stuff about themselves. So just...I probably wouldn't try thinking about it too hard. Use this time to instead be somethin' you wanna be, and work towards that. I had to do something like that myself not too long ago.
Still, I think it's pretty cool if you're not human.
no subject
Yeah.
Yeah, I will. Thanks.
[He pauses, and -- cautiously -- adds:]
Uh, that whole dealing with souls thing. You weren't sending people to hell, right?
no subject
...Depends on what you mean by that.
[Technically, yes..? The first soul Emizel's ever taken....well, there was only one place it had to go.]
no subject
[The super spooky ones? He's still eyeing Emizel nervously. Such a nice, cute kid wouldn't do anything like that.
Right?]
no subject
Souls on their own don't really have that much value to demons anyway. Eternal servitude or something else like that could work maybe. But humans are pretty weak without their technology. I dunno of many demons that would want that either.
[Unless they were after something very particular.]
no subject
[He's not sure what has him so convinced. It's not like he worked with demons or something... right? (Or maybe his vague fears are right, and he is one--)
He rubs the back of his neck, making a face.]
... Or on whatever other goal might come out of killing off someone who's willing to make a deal.
no subject
[He knows certain ones won't. The ones really good about keeping their promises.]
[Still can't be sure what brought this all up though.]
...You don't seriously think that you're gonna suddenly have a need for souls because you're a demon, right?
[Did the other reapers fill that in his head? For gods sake...]
