[Open Mingle] End of Summer Lucky-Pot
Who: Anyone and Everyone!
When: September 22nd
Where: Cnoc Áine
What: It is the final day of Summer and the first day of Fall so the Temple of Áine, the Irish Goddess of Summer, throws one last picnic to bid her season farewell. All are welcome, as long as they bring a dish for thelucky-pot potluck.
[ To celebrate the final day of Summer, the Temple of Áine has gone all out, decorated in vibrant shades of red and gold that already accent the hint of leaves that are changing outside the temple grounds. Although inside the walled temple, it still seems like a beautiful summer day, the leaves on the trees still a bright vibrant green. The picnic is set up in the large orchard that spreads within the temple, the trees' boughs heavy with brightly-hued apples of every flavor and crispness.
Blankets and tables are scattered beneath the trees and in the clearing at the center, several long tables are set up to be filled with dishes brought by guests. Yona has supplied some of it herself, with the help of some friends. Several roasts, carefully sliced and carved for guests. A large platter of corn still on the cob. Several types of breads, seasoned with fruits or vegetables from the summer seasons or the harvest. And apples, of course - those seem to be here and there and everywhere; in pies, sliced and paired with peanut butter or caramel or other dips, made into a buttery spread for the loaves of bread. No matter what people bring to add to the potluck, there will be plenty of food to go around, as well as wine and ciders generously offered to go with it.
There is music playing in the background, just to set the mood or for people to dance to, and the pools of water are still warm enough for people to take a soak or swim in. And when the sun sinks and the sky darkens and the air grows a little cooler, a large bonfire is lit, with hot cocoa passed around and the makings for s'mores set out for anyone who wants to have a little dessert after their feasting. One last offering to a fading summer until it comes around again. ]

Suddenly he's wet, from a source unknown, and Shin-Ah merely stands there like a lost and very confused puppy for a beat. He had seen the pool, but what in this country could cause such a large wave this far away from a beach?
He turned cautiously, looking for all the world like a timid forest creature who had stepped out of the wilderness, and silently searched for the source. Surely, they had to be nearby.]
no subject
He looks down, and blinks.]
Oh, I am sorry. Did you get wet?
no subject
Shin-Ah stared, struck mute by the enormity of this dragon but not frightened in the least. Still dripping wet, he slowly nodded his head.
Yes, he did get wet. No, he wasn't mad.]
no subject
... Are you all right?
no subject
Mm. Just wet.
no subject
[Temeraire's ruff goes forward with amusement, and he settles down a bit further into the water, eyeing the stranger with interest.]
What is your name?
no subject
[And, after making sure the coast was clear, he settled down on the grass nearby.]/small>
You?
no subject
[Shin-Ah isn't a very talkative person, is he? After a moment, Temeraire prods curiously:]
It is a pleasure to meet you. How do you know Yona?
no subject
[He pursed his lips, stopping himself from further embarrassment over stumbling over this dragons name and continued.]
We met during the game where you find things.
[And his God liked her, but that was a different story.]
no subject
[Temeraire hadn't taken part in the game himself; it had sounded more useful for the newcomers, and besides, he wasn't sure just how he should find those things without looking in anyone's house, which seemed rude. There had been a sign about it, too.]
Tem-er-aire. [He enunciates it clearly, to help. The human does not look too young; hatchling humans are about half that size, he's sure. He may not be good with languages, though.]
no subject
[He enunciated the syllables carefully, engraving them into his memory as he spoke. It was a foreign sounding name to his tongue, but he could adapt; he had to, he was a Shinki after all.]
Yes. Training.
[Shin-Ah said with a nod, recalling that they were supposed to be training during that meeting. Whether training was actually accomplished was another story...]
