[Open Mingle] End of Summer Lucky-Pot
Who: Anyone and Everyone!
When: September 22nd
Where: Cnoc Áine
What: It is the final day of Summer and the first day of Fall so the Temple of Áine, the Irish Goddess of Summer, throws one last picnic to bid her season farewell. All are welcome, as long as they bring a dish for thelucky-pot potluck.
[ To celebrate the final day of Summer, the Temple of Áine has gone all out, decorated in vibrant shades of red and gold that already accent the hint of leaves that are changing outside the temple grounds. Although inside the walled temple, it still seems like a beautiful summer day, the leaves on the trees still a bright vibrant green. The picnic is set up in the large orchard that spreads within the temple, the trees' boughs heavy with brightly-hued apples of every flavor and crispness.
Blankets and tables are scattered beneath the trees and in the clearing at the center, several long tables are set up to be filled with dishes brought by guests. Yona has supplied some of it herself, with the help of some friends. Several roasts, carefully sliced and carved for guests. A large platter of corn still on the cob. Several types of breads, seasoned with fruits or vegetables from the summer seasons or the harvest. And apples, of course - those seem to be here and there and everywhere; in pies, sliced and paired with peanut butter or caramel or other dips, made into a buttery spread for the loaves of bread. No matter what people bring to add to the potluck, there will be plenty of food to go around, as well as wine and ciders generously offered to go with it.
There is music playing in the background, just to set the mood or for people to dance to, and the pools of water are still warm enough for people to take a soak or swim in. And when the sun sinks and the sky darkens and the air grows a little cooler, a large bonfire is lit, with hot cocoa passed around and the makings for s'mores set out for anyone who wants to have a little dessert after their feasting. One last offering to a fading summer until it comes around again. ]

Oh! Hello! I'm not sure I've met Caireen yet, but you're welcome here, both of you. My name is Yona, or Áine, but Yona is fine. And yours is?
[ A blink at the offer before she gives a soft laugh, amused, and reaches out to accept the offering. ] I guess I have been keeping a little too busy to indulge for myself just yet, haven't I?

[That smile remains and grows slightly when she takes the plate and cup of tea.]
No one will be happy if the host doesn't have fun too. Or at least takes care of herself. I'm sure you have others watching out, but I noticed it seemed like you'd been busy.
[Reaching up, a bang is moved out of his eyes.]
While I've met a lot of friendly and good people here, I also wanted to observe a bit, since this is the largest gathering I've been to, other than training days.

I..sort of made sure I had already eaten some. I brought drinks, since I'm not good at cooking.
[Meaning he'd had food before coming--because someone has a large appetite. Also that he had already partaken of the potluck fare too, in addition to bringing stuff for it.]
How long have you been here, if it's not rude to ask, Ms. Yona?
no subject
Ahh, me? Hmm. [ She takes a moment to think about it, because it's easy to lose track here. ] It was early summer when I arrived, so a few months now. Longer than some, since people seem to come and go so often here, but certainly not as long as others.

Even if it hadn't been in your invitation, I'd have felt rude showing up with nothing.
[There's a hint of shy smile on his face, but only that hint. Someone was raised with manners, even if he can't remember it.]
Do people come and go a lot, without warning?
[Because that's not exactly a comforting thought.]
no subject
Sometimes, yes. Many come and stay for a while, while others are only here for a short while. I'm not sure anyone knows who or what decides who comes and goes, or for how long. I know that's not very reassuring, but...

[A bow of his head in thanks, as he meant that.]
On to more pleasant topics, thank you for hosting such a party. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves so far. I have been.

Aside from the new faces, are there more or less gods and shinki than when you've seen big groups like this before?
no subject
About the same, actually. For all that some depart with occasional frequency, there always seem to be new arrivals to balance it out.
no subject
[A faint shrug, as he can't make much sense of it right now. It's good to know though, as he's been trying to form a larger picture of things at times when he can. Still, new topic time.]
Thank you for indulging my questions, Yona.
[A small bow of his head in thanks, and a genuine smile.]

It was no trouble at all. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. And I hope both you and your goddess enjoy yourselves today.

I will, I promise. Thank you, Trunks.
