[Open Mingle] End of Summer Lucky-Pot
Who: Anyone and Everyone!
When: September 22nd
Where: Cnoc Áine
What: It is the final day of Summer and the first day of Fall so the Temple of Áine, the Irish Goddess of Summer, throws one last picnic to bid her season farewell. All are welcome, as long as they bring a dish for thelucky-pot potluck.
[ To celebrate the final day of Summer, the Temple of Áine has gone all out, decorated in vibrant shades of red and gold that already accent the hint of leaves that are changing outside the temple grounds. Although inside the walled temple, it still seems like a beautiful summer day, the leaves on the trees still a bright vibrant green. The picnic is set up in the large orchard that spreads within the temple, the trees' boughs heavy with brightly-hued apples of every flavor and crispness.
Blankets and tables are scattered beneath the trees and in the clearing at the center, several long tables are set up to be filled with dishes brought by guests. Yona has supplied some of it herself, with the help of some friends. Several roasts, carefully sliced and carved for guests. A large platter of corn still on the cob. Several types of breads, seasoned with fruits or vegetables from the summer seasons or the harvest. And apples, of course - those seem to be here and there and everywhere; in pies, sliced and paired with peanut butter or caramel or other dips, made into a buttery spread for the loaves of bread. No matter what people bring to add to the potluck, there will be plenty of food to go around, as well as wine and ciders generously offered to go with it.
There is music playing in the background, just to set the mood or for people to dance to, and the pools of water are still warm enough for people to take a soak or swim in. And when the sun sinks and the sky darkens and the air grows a little cooler, a large bonfire is lit, with hot cocoa passed around and the makings for s'mores set out for anyone who wants to have a little dessert after their feasting. One last offering to a fading summer until it comes around again. ]

[And he'll be the first to say it.]
I muddled through because I had wiser and cooler heads to support me, but here there's no one of the sort. I can't really even have a proper conversation with the shinki they gave me and I've certainly tried.
no subject
Now if you want to draw that comparison to gods and shinki then-- ] What's up with your shinki? Not from a talkative sort?
[ Maybe they're just shy... ]
no subject
[He falls silent, trying to think of how to describe it.]
The little speaking box in the commercials on the television. He'll answer when spoken to and do what he's asked quite amiably, but there's nothing else there.
no subject
You've got a soulless one? [ That's how it's called, right? ] They're just weapons, nothing more, yes?
[ Now appears the question what is better. ]
no subject
[He sighs, losing a bit of his usual cheery demeanor for a moment before smiling again.]
I suppose I'm not trustworthy enough for an actual shinki!
no subject
[ At this point it looks like they're doing it on purpose ]
Those who do get shinki often get loved ones or friends- [ Staring st dead family not remembering who you are doesn't sound like "fun" ] -others get enemies. Either annoying or dangerous kind
no subject
[That's a way he can rationalize it at least. As self-deprecating as he can be, he's still an optimist at heart. After all, things could always be worse, no matter how bad they are.]
After all, I'm used to such things. Though I suppose that even though I have been denied used of it, I shouldn't explain one of my Noble Phantasms in any sort of detail.
no subject
You know, I'm not going to ask you to explain it- [ Even if they put the Grail Wars behind, it's still kind of rude to expect other manifestation of Heroic Spirit to tell their secrets... ] -but I'm not going to stop you from doing that either.
[ Because he's kind of curious now, so if you want to talk Richard, do go on ]
no subject
[There really isn't that much harm in it, to be honest. After all, he used his other one earlier in the month to detonate a tree in front of a huge crowd of people. Subtlety isn't what you summon a Saber for.]
Suffice to say there really aren't any weapons or objects that I'm known for, but certainly enough people whose names and histories are tied to my own.
no subject
So what, you mean you can borrow their things?
no subject
[You can tell he's trying very hard not to explain the whole thing.]
Most of them will probably never be summoned as Servants in their own right, but I can bring them along and allow them to remain in my company.
no subject
Woa-- so you can summon your vassals to help you? [ Ones that were bound to him in life, there is a clear limiter to that, sure. But to have faithful subjects follow you even in death - that is something to earn at least some amazement. ]
no subject
[And he'll leave it at that. Any more and he really would put himself at a disadvantage.]
no subject
You know, that kind of stands in direct contradiction to what you said earlier; that you weren't a good king.
[ Warning: his definition of a good king, doesn't mean a successful king. Just one that inspired loyalty in his followers. ]
no subject
[Richard, stop.]
no subject
[ It is kind of funny mental image. "Let's follow our king, just to make sure he doesn't hurt himself by accident" ]
no subject
[So he doesn't ask. Really, he doesn't ask a lot of things. Frequently because someone might tell him no.]
no subject
[ Maybe colorful would be an even better descriptor. He nods, pointing with the movement at the already forgotten guitar ]
Go on, you still haven't played it yet.
no subject
[He really did totally forget about it. Not that that should surprise anyone.]
What was I going to play...?
