[Open Mingle] End of Summer Lucky-Pot

Who: Anyone and Everyone!
When: September 22nd
Where: Cnoc Áine
What: It is the final day of Summer and the first day of Fall so the Temple of Áine, the Irish Goddess of Summer, throws one last picnic to bid her season farewell. All are welcome, as long as they bring a dish for the lucky-pot potluck.

[ To celebrate the final day of Summer, the Temple of Áine has gone all out, decorated in vibrant shades of red and gold that already accent the hint of leaves that are changing outside the temple grounds. Although inside the walled temple, it still seems like a beautiful summer day, the leaves on the trees still a bright vibrant green. The picnic is set up in the large orchard that spreads within the temple, the trees' boughs heavy with brightly-hued apples of every flavor and crispness.

Blankets and tables are scattered beneath the trees and in the clearing at the center, several long tables are set up to be filled with dishes brought by guests. Yona has supplied some of it herself, with the help of some friends. Several roasts, carefully sliced and carved for guests. A large platter of corn still on the cob. Several types of breads, seasoned with fruits or vegetables from the summer seasons or the harvest. And apples, of course - those seem to be here and there and everywhere; in pies, sliced and paired with peanut butter or caramel or other dips, made into a buttery spread for the loaves of bread. No matter what people bring to add to the potluck, there will be plenty of food to go around, as well as wine and ciders generously offered to go with it.

There is music playing in the background, just to set the mood or for people to dance to, and the pools of water are still warm enough for people to take a soak or swim in. And when the sun sinks and the sky darkens and the air grows a little cooler, a large bonfire is lit, with hot cocoa passed around and the makings for s'mores set out for anyone who wants to have a little dessert after their feasting. One last offering to a fading summer until it comes around again. ]

[Lancer did, indeed, get red again when he looked at him with that look. But in Lancer's mind, Caster didn't belong to him. And at some point, Caster would be much better off with another, or even better? Single.

So Lancer just smiled, the red still resting on his face.]

I think I do, yes.

[But he's not entirely sure on that matter.]

You just want to see who all catches your interest romantically... is that correct?

[ This disaster is probably best staying single, for everyone's sanity. That's incredibly considerate of you, Lancer. ]

You know, when you phrase it like that it sounds like I'm about to settle down here! [ He never planned for that. But right now his mental processes are trying to decipher what is going on here. It's like- Lancer is getting at something, he's just not certain at what-- maybe he should pay attention to that feedback he gets from the god-shinki bond. Especially now that he managed to fluster him again.

Could it be that another of his shinki--? ]

Well... maybe you would. You never know, do you?

[Lancer isn't going to admit his feelings. Somehow, he feels like that's a bad idea and he'd be contributing to any future dramas. But there are feelings there. Small crushy ones. He moves to push himself off of the branch.]

Be more open.

[ He's going to be part of those dramas anyway, as it seems. The mouth is indeed the origin of all disaster... ]

To new concepts and possibilities? [ Hah ] Sound advice, I'll take it.

[ A beat ]

But don't go organizing the wedding just yet. [ He quips seeing him off their spot. Lancer seems to be more interesting in ensuring him getting a stable romantic life, than Caster does himself--- which is, kind of nice gesture, on one hand. But ON THE OTHER it reminds him of all those uncles, aunts, and cousins who one day decided it's time to marry him off one day and didn't accept a "no".

Well, they both are from the same cultural origin, and not that far from each other - what is a - give or take - 600 years? Maybe it shouldn't come off as a surprise. ]

As you should. You are wise, being open to new things should be obvious to you.

[He lets out a chuckle.]

I'll let Archer do that. [He's not going to push Caster into getting married or doing anything he doesn't want to. However, he's also going to be very clear that he does have an ideal person in mind for Caster.

Hey, he's the resident romantic after all.]

[ Not sure what's better - being called wise, or having a shipper on the deck.

Once upon a time, there was world's most dead-inside team-mom and ancient unlucky playboy... insert some joke here, that probably isn't even funny ]

Well, that kind of celebration certainly would have the best food in Heavens. [ Regardless if this was a suggestion that Archer is good at taking care of things requiring some organization sense, or that he's a potential candidate for that marriage, Caster takes the comment with a hearty laugh.

Hey, you know, if there was One Definite Good Thing about Archer, it's definitely his cooking skills. ]

[If it makes you feel better, it also includes an ancient unlucky bride napper so...]

Perhaps I could learn to cook from Archer. [So on their wedding he doesn't have to cook. That would be much better.] Would you appreciate two people cooking?

[ This is going to be most epic saga, what a team. Join, make it a threesome, it will be fun they say. Can you tell I'm turning brackets into garbage? ]

Mhhm... I suppose he would be happy to teach you if you wanted that. [ Good thing he doesn't know wedding is still part of the conversation. He'd scream. ] If the lessons happens I could use some too.

[ Otherwise if Archer ever goes on a cooking strike their quality of life - food - will suffer. Not that they have to eat in first place, but it is a good experience ]

I'm okay with basic skills, and I will survive in the wilds no problem- but all this stuff in the kitchen looks intimidating.

[The brackets weren't already garbage?]

It'll be fine if you don't! [Lancer is determined.] I hope he'll be willing to teach me then.

[They're just going to have to buy fast foods.]

I'm sure it's not that bad! It might be easier if we had someone walk us through it, though.

[personal profile] futhark 2018-02-07 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Then what's the stage below garbage? ]

As long as we don't set a kitchen on fire, I think we should be fine! Neither of us is that hopeless with this stuff.

[ Spoiler alert - they will probably set the kitchen on fire ]

[Cu Chulainn.]

I don't think we'd do that! I think we'd be okay...

[Maybe they should start with something like sushi.]

[ That was so mean... ]

Then I'll make sure to catch a lot of fish for us

[ To practice on- poor fishes, but alas. Sushi at least shouldn't include fire. Unless you want to go for seared salmon. ]

[You had it coming.]

Good idea, Mister Caster. We'll have a lot to practice with.

[And not set the kitchen on fire with all the sushi they'll have.]
