redmare: (how can I say no?)

[Open]

 Who: Chinatsu and you!
Where: Anywhere and everywhere!
When: Last week of September to..First week of October
What: Catchall for minor activities such as training, daily shenanigans, outings, what have you.

A. Training
Chinatsu's trying to learn to fight, whether it be hand-to-hand or with weapons. She'll approach anyone she can for a spar, or at least people she knows. She'll either train at Nekhbet's temple, or a slightly secluded but open space at the near shore.

B. Let's hang
She may be learning to fight ayakashi, but she's still a teenager. Hang out with her in the far shore, go shopping, beat up some guys bothering other girls (wait, that's still fighting), go to the arcade or eat some fast food...anything under the sun!

She's also down to spending time in the near shore, maybe show her that there's fun stuff to do in heaven.

C. Wildcard
Open to anything and everything! Make up your own scenario and I'll play along.

[If they're doing something like this, Shun would prefer a reasonably open space even if it also means being clearly visible to passerby, so he starts heading around the base of the hill and past the garden walls towards the back of it.]

We needed to work together that time. Necessity can do a lot, but we need to be sure we'll be able to do it when we're not under that much pressure as well.

[The mutual need to protect themselves and each other had been an "agreement" of sorts in their aims, but that's not always going to be the circumstances they fight in.]

[Once they come out to the other side of the hill, Shun turns towards her. That last statement is enough for him to assume she's ready for the change, so he simply goes ahead and does it this time around.]

Come, Ouki. [Shun is very used to calling shinki into form after almost six months of being here, and there's a wilful edge to the tone to accentuate the idea of the call to battle. It's not quite dramatic, but it's more than just throwing the name out there.

He positions his hands as he did when he was learning to use tessen at the recent training meet, prepared for Chinatsu's form to appear in them.]

[Shun tests the grip a little to see if it feels similar to what he was training with the other day - it does, so it seems like he should progress from there.]

I'm going to try some more controlled motions first. It looked like the fire came out last time when we moved, so knowing how much movement it takes could help us fight better.

[The first movement he makes is fairly straightforward - he half-spins on the spot, holding one fan out and making a motion to snap it open as he sweeps it in a wide arc.]

Maybe. Were you focusing on bringing out the power as well? [It's something both of them need to play a part in, so Shun figures he should get the obvious potential reason for the failure out of the way.]

Alright. Stay alert.

[This time, Shun focuses himself and goes for something a bit more certain - a forward flip that slashes both the fans down in front of him, similar to the first attack he made on the ayakashi they were fighting that first time.]
revolutionfalcon: (explanation)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-12-19 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
[That is pretty much exactly the concern that stopped Shun from doing this inside the garden. He continues his motion to avoid the flames blowing back at them, and closes the fans to limit their movement and lessen the risk they'll spawn more.]

It's better than nothing, but try not to set us on fire.

That was basically the same as one of the moves we used against that ayakashi. And we didn't burn it up on the first strike, in case you didn't notice.

[Shun's not unwilling to take the criticism if he actually thinks it's his fault, but in this case, it doesn't seem all that likely.] If we're supposed to be working together, then you work out what the problem was together instead of blaming the other person straight away.
revolutionfalcon: (derisive)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-12-22 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
And I could say the same thing back to you, because that's what I was doing as well. See how that does nothing for either of us? [His tone is very blunt; Shun somewhat understands the urge to blame someone else for it, but it's not typically something he does. It gets nothing done to blame someone else if that's not actually the case, rather than consider whether you might have caused it or some combined factor.]
revolutionfalcon: (calm command)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-12-24 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Communication. Tell me what it was you were focusing on. [There's not much point trying again until they at least have a theory on what caused the problem, he feels.]
revolutionfalcon: (stopping to think for once)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-12-27 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[...That sounds likely. Shun looks down at the fans, expression looking like he has a pretty good idea of what went wrong.] Then it sounds like we were both focusing more on getting something out of the fans than how much we were going to be getting. So we got a ridiculous amount because we weren't tempering it.
revolutionfalcon: (calm command)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-12-28 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
At least one of us has to, maybe both. But it makes the most sense as what was wrong with that attempt.

[The first time the fire spawned, neither of them had known exactly what they were trying to get out of the weapons, so that would explain the disparity between the amount they got way back then and this time.]

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-12-29 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Shun hums slightly in assent, giving it a few moments to let her focus before moving again. This time, it's a rapid spin and slash one way, then the other, with both fans held close together. He's focusing on the particular image of a small burst of flame, enough to damage an ayakashi but not to suffer the issue of blowback.]
