Open Mingle

Who: Everyone
Where: Near Shore (Possibly Paris, but people are free to shop all over the world, too)
When: September 28th
What: Shopping mingle!

By now everyone should have gotten that invitation for a formal party, right? Which means it's time for one thing: shopping.

Either it's by coincidence that everyone has thought up of the same place or through the courtesy of Hibiki (whose luck had ran out on her this time), people are going on a shopping trip in the fashion capital of the world: Paris. There are always fun and new outfits to try or, or if Paris simply doesn't have your style, feel free to head to another city.

So, have fun shopping. Enjoy yourselves.

And possibly remember to pay for the clothes you want to buy. Clothes aren't cheap, after all.

One of the malls they can be starting from is this lovely place. Try not to get lost.

[ooc; This is an open shopping mingle for anyone and everyone who simply want to go shopping, need an outfit for that formal party event coming up, or you're part of CelePara in which your shopping trip is being invaded by other people. Feel free to make top levels for your guys and have fun!]
pure_radiantics: (convo] how nice.)

[She smiles.]

You're not the first person to say that to me on this trip. But you know how he is, you saw what he can make -

[She moves to line up the sleeve with one of her arms to compare what it might look like on her.]

I just thought it would be a nice surprise for someone who'd actually appreciate it.

[Someone she's dating, of course.]
letteropener: (chatting away)

I think you may be worrying about it too much... but the care and attention you put into it will be the true charm behind it, so don't worry too much about worrying too much about it.

[Celestia may have no firsthoof experience with romance, but she's seen so much of it she may know a thing or two.]
pure_radiantics: (convo] you're so silly!)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-04 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement!

[She flexes one arm and holds it with her other, to show she's serious.]

I'll focus on just being excited instead!
letteropener: (that is how it is)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-05 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That is the best choice. You could show up wearing a sack and he'd find it beautiful by virtue of you being in it, so rely on yourself to make the evening, not your clothing, and you will have no problems at all.
pure_radiantics: (convo] slight blush again)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-07 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
A- a sack?!

[Kairi covers her face, imagining that to be very close to nudity.]

Oh my gosh that would be... a little much...
letteropener: (huh)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-07 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
[And here Celestia is thinking of a big burlap potato sack. It could engulf Kairi easily with room to spare! Certainly more modest than many outfits she'd seen young women wearing.]

Well, the point remains the same no matter what you envision.
pure_radiantics: (convo] happy smiling blush)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-10 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... that even wearing a sack he'd think I'd look pretty?

[She laughs then, still a little red but now amused.]

I guess I'd say the same thing about him, so I kinda get what you're saying.
letteropener: (that is how it is)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-10 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You see? It's all about the one inside the clothes, not the clothing.

[Which is why clothing is overrated, but she's accepted that humans are humans about it all.]
pure_radiantics: (convo] smiling chatter)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-11 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I certainly agree with you there. I'm just worried about showing up to the party and not being as elegantly dressed as my date. I couldn't wear jeans and a t-shirt if he's in a nice dress after all!

[She fiddles with the tuxedo some more, feeling the texture of the cloth. So soft!]
letteropener: (chatting away)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-11 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I do not think you will need to worry about that. Clothing equal to the occasion is a necessity. [Unless one is an ancient Princess and can get away with just saying, 'no'.] I only am saying you shouldn't worry about every little detail.
pure_radiantics: (convo] giggle 2)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-11 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you mean like worrying over earrings and necklaces and shoes and... well I guess if there's a suit, maybe cufflinks? Maybe a... shoot, what do boys put in their napkin spots on suitcoats...

Bouteh... Boutan? A pretty flower stuck in there with a pin.
letteropener: (huh)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-11 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand how humans evolved that custom the same way as ponies did. [Certain questions of edibility are in play, after all.]
pure_radiantics: (convo] uhhh ohhh...)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-11 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Suit coats or the flowers?

[Because now that she thinks about it...]
letteropener: (raised hoof)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-12 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The flowers! Humans don't view them as snacks or delicacies, after all!
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh... let me think about that.)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-13 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I think I have heard of edible flowers... but you're right, I don't think they normally go on suitcoats.
letteropener: (huh)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-13 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Precisely. So why do humans bring their dates snacks and carry one around for themselves if they are not, in fact, snacks?
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh. interesting.)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-17 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
But you just said it, didn't you? We don't eat the flowers so... they're just decorations. Like wearing a pretty bracelet.
letteropener: (friendly explanation)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-17 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And so how did it come that humans began making flowers into decorations instead of wearing decorations made for the purpose?
pure_radiantics: (convo] you're so silly!)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-20 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Probably ever since we had flowers in our gardens! You know, decorations for our houses and temples and then eventually decorations on our clothes.
letteropener: (raised hoof)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-20 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
And why did you all have them to begin with? Simply for the colors?
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh?)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Have them...? I think they probably just grew in the wild and we moved them to our living areas, if I'm remembering history right.

[Which she thinks she might not be, being a shinki.]
letteropener: (chatting away)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-03-26 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Simply for the looks?

[The answer is so easy, but she can understand it. Sometimes aesthetics are the only reason you need.]
pure_radiantics: (Default)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-03-31 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, exactly.

[She nods.]

It's a huge effort that doesn't feed us the way it does you, so it was a status symbol. Poor people wouldn't have had gardens, but nobility could afford to have fresh flowers on their tables because someone got it from their gardens.
letteropener: (that IS just like my crazy subjects)

[personal profile] letteropener 2018-04-02 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. That explains it perfectly then.

[All confusion is gone. Celestia comprehends quite well the vagaries of nobility and the competition for status in every way.]

There are worse symbols.
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh. interesting.)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2018-04-14 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?

[She hadn't though much of it until this conversation.]

What are some symbols that your people normally use if not flowers and gardens?

(no subject)
