Where: Anywhere!
When: All of October 2nd
What: Add's experiment starts to affect the Far Shore, causing rifts and mutated ayakashi to begin appearing all over. Please refer to this post for details and questions.
Spatial Tears
The first few cracks are small, barely anything noticeable, but by morning the tears have widened enough to start leaking a chaotic and unsettling energy. Spend too much time around them and you'll start feeling strange. Memories get foggier, emotions start to run wild or go missing entirely... whatever's causing this, it's not good.
Luckily, magic seems to be enough to force them back, and a bit of holy water can seal up a weakened tear in no time. Better get to work!
Freak Ayakashi
Ayakashi are rare on the Far Shore, but not completely unheard of. The ones that linger too close to the tears receive a much more sinister effect compared to gods and shinkiβthe energy seeps into their bodies in the form of glowing blue patterns, granting the ayakashi even more strength and the power to spread more tears and corrupt energy with their blight. These ayakashi are aggressive and will attack heavenly beings on sight.
... but many of the ayakashi will be very familiar to the older of the outsider gods and shinki. A large number of small Noise ayakashi have ended up in the mix somehow, resembling the ones that escaped from the chocolates way back in March. They're small, but incredibly dangerous, and it'll take a coordinated attack to put any kind of dent on them.
Henir's Temple
A massive tear can be seen looming over Henir's temple, and it grows larger and larger as the day goes on. The temple grounds are a mess, and it seems like this might be the source of the trouble. Is there something inside the temple that might put a stop to all of this?
Later in the day, a piercingly bright golden triangle shines through the darkness of the giant rift. Whatever's going on in there, it's not just Add that's involved.
((If you want your character to investigate the temple, please contact me first! I can be reached on plurk atBlueFlewFedUQueen, by PM, or you can respond to the event OOC post. This is just to keep track of who's going where, so if you've already spoken to me about it in some capacity you're A-OK :|b))
Henir's Temple
Well, that's no good...
[Glancing around for a moment, she pushes her glasses up before calling out:]
Persona!
[It's a little hard to miss what happens next, even if she was trying to be nondescript about it. There's a brief flash of light from Futaba, and suddenly there is a UFO floating above the scene. Mechanical tentacles erupt from it, scooping up Futaba, who is now dressed like a character from a 1980s cyberpunk movie.]
All right, let's see what's going on inside...
[The UFO begins floating toward the rift just as the light bursts out from the void. Its progress halts for a moment as Futaba tries to analyze what just happened.]
...Apparently a lot is going on inside. Guess I'd better hurry.

Even from afar he can see the UFO. That's his chance to get inside in company, since going there alone is nothing but a suicide mission. Archer leaps forward, using the building itself as impromptu vault, and lands safely on metalic surface.]
Mind if I join you for the ride?
no subject
[Futaba was a bit too focused on trying to analyze the rift to notice Archer until he's right on top of her.]
I don't mind if you don't. There's really only room in here for one, but I can help you out with remote battle analysis once we're inside.

What kind of suport are you able to provide during the battle?
no subject
[She sends the UFO slowly toward the rift.]
I can scan enemies for weak points, heal you mid-battle, give you attack buffs, keep an eye out for surprise attacks... pretty all-purpose support, really.

Good. Do you have a shinki with you in case we run into ayakashi?
no subject
[Plus her shinki is soulless and creepy.]

[She can at least manage that much.]

[Archer sends her a smirk and turns his attention to the huge rift.]
Can you get any useful info about this thing?

[The Overlord has his personal army deployed: a dozen of his demonic minions, brandishing swords, staves, nunchucku, and one of them had a fishing pole for some reason -- and this platoon is stomping on forward through the Far Shore beating down every ayakashi it sees. The progression slows as it passes Henir's temple, though, as the Overlord in the midst of it pauses to glance up at the UFO and its rider.]
...You know, part of me is totally unsurprised by this, and part of me expected the outfit to be at least a little more BSDM-ish.

I'm a hacker. Are you gonna help or just stare?

[Nine demons and three Prinnies, pretty much none of which look shockingly competent.]

Re: Henir's Temple
DAMNIT!
[Dokugakuji was unsuccessful in his attempt to 'protect' Futaba as she starts to get scooped up, but he's clearly thinking that that's an ayakashi grabbing for her.]
Hang on, I'll get you out of there! Mokki!
[And he's got a sword in his hand, readied towards the UFO.]
Re: Henir's Temple
[The UFO floats up a little higher.]
Re: Henir's Temple
[He's suddenly very confused.]
Isn't that an ayakashi?
Re: Henir's Temple
Re: Henir's Temple
[Someone in control of something like that outside of those options frankly strikes him as very Dr. Ni and that's troubling him.]
Re: Henir's Temple
[Very helpful, Futaba.]
But it's definitely not eating me.
Re: Henir's Temple
Whatever. Next time you see me, just explain things more clearly, huh?
[And off he runs to get some more ayakashi.]
