[Open] What if we rewrite the stars?
Who: Lavi and You!
When: October 4 - 8 (IC)
Where: Far Shore (mostly). Near Shore.
What: Aftermath of Add things as Lavi checks on his friends, reading and sign language class, and Lavi remembers a demon child from his world.
[A. Lessons for Reading and Signs]
[After finally managing to procure a good place for lessons - he may or may not have snagged a classroom at Hakkai’s school at some point - it was finally time for lessons!]
I. Reading
[For those who wanted assistance in reading, Lavi does have some books piled up on a desktop and he’s looking through a few himself. While some people had shown more interest in sign language, there were still enough people who seemed eager to read as well. The books were all beginner’s level, but there was another pile of books meant for the intermediate level.
He could have just finished helping someone out or waiting for someone to join him.
Either way, Lavi will look up when he hears someone coming in.]
II. Languages
[Languages, languages!
Even if it’s mostly sign languages, in which Lavi had been considerate enough to even make proper notes for the signs and even the alphabet out, all drawn out on the board for people to see.
On the other hand, given Yoon’s own interest in Braille, he has a couple of books for that as well. Digging into the Heaven’s library is taxing, so he took a brief trip to the Near Shore to gather the necessary ones.
He’s even reading something in Braille as he waits for someone to join him.]
[B. The Ghosts Hide in Shadows]
[It’s late into the evenings, but for once, it’s not because Lavi is trying to avoid sleep.
That’s a subject for another time.
Rather, he’s been going around certain temples, such as Nekhbet and Apollo’s temples, mostly to check in on them after whatever happened with Add. Otherwise, he can be seen walking around the Heavens, tracing odd patterns in the air with a finger while having a calculating look on his face.
It’s easy to surprise him like this, but don’t be surprised if he greets you with a hammer to the face.
He’s a little jumpy lately and he’s not afraid to use that hammer of his if he feels the least bit threatened. Unless he recognizes you and then the person is greeted with a smile.]
Evening!
[C. Dreams Become Nightmares]
[He remembers.
It was worse than the other memories he had remembered before, enough to make him remember why exactly he hated sleeping or dreaming in particular. Why he hated it when his dreams were being intruded on, showcasing a part of himself he didn’t even know existed, but it lingered.
Lavi decided: he hates memories.
The echoes of that girl’s laughs haunts him, enough where he’s taken to sneaking out of Cardia’s temple late at night and has taken to hide somewhere or until he finally does feel enough exhaustion to pass out. At this rate, it’s not surprising to see him in the library or at a park or even near a temple he’s visited before. However, he’d usually leave before someone spots him, never really staying at one place and it’s easy enough to see something has made him frightened.
He mumbles to himself, sounding upset and tugs his headband off his head, holding it tightly in his hand while he runs his other hand through his hair.]
Damn Road.
[D. A Walk in Fantasyland - Closed to Ayumu]
[He did promise her a date - or not date. Whatever it’s called.
Since Lavi has grown more familiar with the Near Shore, he opted to take Ayumu around Tokyo first. It’s easy and a little more familiar to him than most places.
So, he waits for her after giving her the time and location, knowing that while he should have gone to pick her up, Lavi actually doesn’t know if she’s still staying with Hakkai or is bunking up somewhere else. Either way, it’s going to be a day for them to hang out and not worry about things like that.]

9/10 woo
So... then we could drop a hint to the police so you don't have to.
[ That's her first, most immediate thought, even if it's a little naive. She's not genuinely sure it will work, but if there's no ayakashi involved, then maybe that's all it would take. ]
And we can even tell them you're not with those guys! That you were pressured into this...?
[ She's trying to sound hopeful, but the storeowner is grimacing at her suggestion, not able to summon nearly as much hope as she can. ]
If you... think that's my only option...
no subject
Not right now.]
We can give it a try. If not, then we can only go with another option.
[He keeps his tone casual.
Really, he has a really good idea how they might have to handle this group and it makes him honestly a little excited. Though, he's not sure how Kairi would react to it at first.]
Prayer #24
[ She takes Joy's hand and leads her out into the street, hoping that Lavi will follow. She waits for him there, but she's already looking down the alleyway, wondering if the sound at the other side of the street from where they came in is really what she thinks it is. It sounds like a couple of teens their age rummaging in one of those big garbage cans, and few others telling them to hurry up. It has the bakery's logo on the side.
Yet perched on top of the garbage can is a tiny ayakashi. Kairi doesn't get queasy from them anymore, but she can see that black spot hidden amidst the midday shadows easy enough. After Lavi joins her, and the door is shut behind them, she grabs Lavi's hand too with her free hand and points in that direction. ]
I don't think they see us...
[ The teens OR the ayakashi. ]
no subject
Lavi frowns slightly at the sight. It doesn't seem like they notice them at all, but the ayakashi is the bigger concern since they're shinki without gods nearby.]
No, definitely not.
[He cups his chin in thought with his free hand.]
So, got a plan? The ayakashi is a bit of a bigger problem than those guys.
no subject
It's so small... I've never seen- wait... no, I HAVE seen one this small, but it's been months! Roxas and I caught a squirrel once.
[ Then she looks back to Lavi. ]
It didn't have a nest to go back to but boys... they like hideouts, don't they? If nothing else, I'm afraid of them playing around here with a bunch of bad guys hanging around too.
no subject
[But how to do that...]
....You think they'd fall for a haunting?
5/20 /gym emoji
You know... that's not a bad idea!
[ She looks around. ]
Maybe we need a sheet... or do you think if we just hide and call out with our voices they'll just not notice us, because we're shinki?
6/20
Maybe a combo of both? They might not fall for it easily, but we can still make it work.
7! Of 20!
Okay then... and that will leave the ayakashi alone! Easier for us to drive off or maybe even get rid of. ]
[ She perks her finger up afterwards. ]
What do you think, Lavi... can you make the spooky noises they'll be afraid of? I'm probably better at hiding in a big sheet - maybe sitting on Joy's shoulders too. I can grab a big tablecloth from the bakery. Maybe he even has a buffet-sized one!
8/20~
Scaring a whole bunch of teenagers? Sounds like his type of fun.]
Oh, that's a good plan to me. I might make a bit of a ruckus though as a warning.
[They're teenagers. So, he might be using the area a bit to his advantage to create more of a spooky effect.]
9/20
Seeing you smile is great Lavi, but I suddenly worry those poor boys are going to need a change of pants by the time you're done with them.
[ A small price to pay considering their lives will be saved instead, but... concerned nonetheless. She'd be much less scary than Lavi, she's sure. ]
I guess it'd be better if your ruckus looked like something the sheet was causing to happen. What are you thinking?
10/20. Halfway there!
Lavi has a hammer that he's not afraid to use for help. A magic hammer at that, one he can manipulate elements with. There's a glint in his eye, an eager one.]
Think it'd be too much if we make it look like you're a ghost that can summon storms for your 'territory' being invaded?
[It's a generally...tame idea. Except it's Lavi.]
11/20! Heck yeah!
You can summon a storm? Is that a shinki spell you've been holding out on?
[ Because while she's always been impressed with Lavi, she didn't think 'change the weather' was in his repertoire. That was a Celestia thing, or a God With Weather Domain thing. Not a shinki-fighter-type thing. ]
12/20
No, not a shinki spell unfortunately, but I can do something similar.
[He winks at her.]
Don't worry. Just leave this up to me.
13/20! Lucky~
[ She's bummed, but she sighs and heads back into the bakery, with Joy on her heels. ]
Be right back!
[ And soon enough, she'll return with a buffet-sized white tablecloth, ready to scare some teenagers away from their dangerous companion. ]
14/20 getting closer!
Ready?
15/20 getting closer!
I... guess so!
[ She turns to Joy. ]
Please let me ride on your back for a bit, Joy.
[ She wishes that Nimbus wasn't quite so noisy, or that would have made for a much better option. But Joy obliges and Kairi climbs up onto her shoulders, settling there with Joy's help, and pulls the tablecloth over the two of them. Thankfully, it's quite thick, but Kairi found a small tear to look through while she was walking back.]
16/20 four more to go!
It definitely grabs the attention of the teenaged boys, causing them to stiffen and slowly turn in their direction.]
17/20 T-3 doo do dooooo
Sure enough, the boys yelp and start to gather around each other in the alley, but in the process they knock over the lid of the giant trash can they were congregating around and send the little ayakashi down inside it. A trap without even realizing the ayakashi was there.
They don't seem quite scared enough yet to flee, but then the winds pick up and the lightning crashes again and Kairi + Joy step forward once more.
Then they're fleeing the scene. ]
18/20 T-2!!!
It's only when they're out of sight does he cancel out his hammer's powers, returning the sky to being as clear as it was before while the winds die down from around them. He lifts the hammer to rest on his shoulder, a wide grin on his face.]
That was fun.
19/20 WHOOP!
Time to be quick about this before the ayakashi gets away! ]
Onki!
[ And Kairi falls a few feet, sure enough, but she lands in a crouch with Joy's ribbon-stick in her free hand. Then she runs over to the dumpster, holding the stick high. ]
Lift the lid and I'll get rid of it right away, Lavi!
[ Because as soon as he does so, she's gonna use Rend on the little guy. Worst case scenario Joy's ribbon should bounce around the dumpster until it finds its target. ]
20/20!!!
Leaving it to you girls.
[He waits just a second for Kairi and Joy to get ready before he ends up lifting the lid, the tiny ayakashi immediately coming out.]
/FF7 TRIUMPH NOISES
So she strikes quickly, snapping the ribbon forward and wrapping it around the tiny ayakashi thanks to intuition on Joy's end. It squeezes tight and Kairi yells a little louder than she meant to, knowing the alley would echo: ]
ONKI! REND!
[ As Kairi pulls the ribbon-stick back towards her, the nasty smell of the ayakashi's blight fades on lingering winds from Lavi's power. She clutches the stick to her chest with a big grin and then turns to Lavi, offering him a high-five. ]
Nice teamwork, Lavi!
no subject
Well, we do make a pretty good team.
[He deactivates his hammer and slides it into a holster that he keeps around his thigh. He’s just glad that the baker would finally stop getting trouble around here.]
no subject
[ She hefts the tablecloth once more and starts walking back towards the bakery. ]
Do you want to hold Joy for me until we get back there?
[ Or he could take the tablecloth, but she wants to carry it! It's all she got to do to help Lavi out after all, be a scary ghost, while he summoned a whole storm! ]
(no subject)
