What: Aftermath of Add things as Lavi checks on his friends, reading and sign language class, and Lavi remembers a demon child from his world.


[A. Lessons for Reading and Signs]

[After finally managing to procure a good place for lessons - he may or may not have snagged a classroom at Hakkai’s school at some point - it was finally time for lessons!]

I. Reading

[For those who wanted assistance in reading, Lavi does have some books piled up on a desktop and he’s looking through a few himself. While some people had shown more interest in sign language, there were still enough people who seemed eager to read as well. The books were all beginner’s level, but there was another pile of books meant for the intermediate level.

He could have just finished helping someone out or waiting for someone to join him.

Either way, Lavi will look up when he hears someone coming in.]

II. Languages

[Languages, languages!

Even if it’s mostly sign languages, in which Lavi had been considerate enough to even make proper notes for the signs and even the alphabet out, all drawn out on the board for people to see.

On the other hand, given Yoon’s own interest in Braille, he has a couple of books for that as well. Digging into the Heaven’s library is taxing, so he took a brief trip to the Near Shore to gather the necessary ones.

He’s even reading something in Braille as he waits for someone to join him.]

[B. The Ghosts Hide in Shadows]

[It’s late into the evenings, but for once, it’s not because Lavi is trying to avoid sleep.

That’s a subject for another time.

Rather, he’s been going around certain temples, such as Nekhbet and Apollo’s temples, mostly to check in on them after whatever happened with Add. Otherwise, he can be seen walking around the Heavens, tracing odd patterns in the air with a finger while having a calculating look on his face.

It’s easy to surprise him like this, but don’t be surprised if he greets you with a hammer to the face.

He’s a little jumpy lately and he’s not afraid to use that hammer of his if he feels the least bit threatened. Unless he recognizes you and then the person is greeted with a smile.]

[C. Dreams Become Nightmares]

[He remembers.

It was worse than the other memories he had remembered before, enough to make him remember why exactly he hated sleeping or dreaming in particular. Why he hated it when his dreams were being intruded on, showcasing a part of himself he didn’t even know existed, but it lingered.

Lavi decided: he hates memories.

The echoes of that girl’s laughs haunts him, enough where he’s taken to sneaking out of Cardia’s temple late at night and has taken to hide somewhere or until he finally does feel enough exhaustion to pass out. At this rate, it’s not surprising to see him in the library or at a park or even near a temple he’s visited before. However, he’d usually leave before someone spots him, never really staying at one place and it’s easy enough to see something has made him frightened.

He mumbles to himself, sounding upset and tugs his headband off his head, holding it tightly in his hand while he runs his other hand through his hair.]

Damn Road.

[D. A Walk in Fantasyland - Closed to Ayumu]

[He did promise her a date - or not date. Whatever it’s called.

Since Lavi has grown more familiar with the Near Shore, he opted to take Ayumu around Tokyo first. It’s easy and a little more familiar to him than most places.

So, he waits for her after giving her the time and location, knowing that while he should have gone to pick her up, Lavi actually doesn’t know if she’s still staying with Hakkai or is bunking up somewhere else. Either way, it’s going to be a day for them to hang out and not worry about things like that.]

[ He'd heard about it, and the whole concept just rang odd enough to have Judar show up to the school to check some of it out. Not that he was interested in learning any of this. He couldn't even say why it sounded so strange. Something about there being multiple languages...

Except there were pictures of hands on the board and looking at some open books show nothing but dots and bumps. ]

These... are supposed to be languages?

[ This isn't really what he was expecting. ]

[He's a little surprised to see Judar, having thought that the other shinki wouldn't even be remotely interested in this sort of thing or having his nose buried in a notebook somewhere. Lavi looks over at him curiously.]

What brings you here?

[Shun woke up the day after the Add incident not remembering a hell of a lot of what actually happened after he got into the temple. It's not a feeling he likes, not remembering something that he knows for sure went further and more complicated than he currently knows, but he seems fine, so it's a lower priority than some other things right now.

Still, he seems to be thinking on it as he's perched in one of the outer branches of the trees bordering his garden, feeding a few vultures that managed to cram themselves onto the branch along with him. It makes it fairly easy to spot Lavi approaching, even in the low light provided by the ceremonial stone lanterns that now dot Shun's temple ground.]

You must have something on your mind if you're showing up this late.

I can't come check in on you?

[That's what he's been doing recently after what Add's done. It was here and then checking up on Hibiki and Ayumu.

But he does give Shun an initial glance over.]

A.II

[ Eric walked into the school and headed towards where he and Lavi met last time. As much as Eric wanted to work on his reading, it was getting a little bad sometimes and he'll admit he was plateauing a little on reading, learning the language where you talk with your hands was a lot more interesting. He wasn't frustrated with any sort of lack of progress with this...just yet anyways.

He entered the room looking at his hands, going through some of the signs that they worked with and that he remembered, pausing to look up and spot his teacher reading. Maybe he wanted to help Eric with that instead today...But he blinked, because he didn't see any words on the page as he approached.

Eric curiously looked over Lavi's shoulder, his head tilted in thought. Was that...a book? Was he reading that with his fingers? ]

[Lavi hums in greeting.]

It's Braille. [He says it as a means of explanation.] This is usually meant for people who are blind or going blind. Each of these dots signify a letter and a number.

[And it can be a bit harder to learn, then again, all languages have their own set of difficulties.]

Road, huh?

[Yeah, Lavi, two can play at that "creeping on people for concern reasons after dark" thing. It hadn't seemed entirely worth worrying about, but the fact that Lavi chose to show up so late the other night had Shun somewhat suspecting he might not be sleeping that well. He's left it a few days, but it seems as if he's caught Lavi in something a little different this time.

Shun's figure is a little difficult to fully discern in the darkness given the colours he prefers to wear, but his eyes are very visible, as is the slightly reflective surface of some kind of gem on a bracelet that sticks out from under his coat sleeve.]

I've never heard you mention that name before.

[The only reaction Lavi gives to Shun showing up is the tensing of his shoulders.

Honestly, he should have expected that the god would've turned the tables around on them. It's only been a few days since they last talked, but apparently that had been enough of an incentive for Shun to come. His fingers tighten around his headband briefly before he glances over at where Shun is.]

I just remembered it.

[An orange cat will be the one to scare Lavi as he gets close to the temple where it lived. It walks out right in front of him and stops, tail twitching as it makes a 'murr?' noise. A moment later it's joined by several other cats and a horse. Hi.

[....Animals.

Why are there animals? Lavi blinks a few times.]

Um, hello. [Whose temple is this?]

[ He's been feeling... off. He feels like he's failing as a shinki... especially when Ichiru, Zero's other shinki and brother, can do no wrong. He doesn't feel any resentment to the latter twin... he puts the blame all on himself. ]

[ That's why he was taking a walk, and he comes to a park. Might as well just walk around and dispel this feeling of self-loathing. Zero is probably getting little stings, he bets. But maybe the walk will soothe him. ]

[ It's then he spots the shock of red hair. It looks familiar, and he walks towards it--Lavi. He hadn't seen him in awhile. ]

[ He hears "Damn Road" and doesn't recognize it as a name, just... a road. He's closer to him, now. ]

Lavi, [ He calls out to him softly. ] ...Are you all right?

[Lavi jerks a bit in surprise upon hearing the familiar voice. It had been a long time since he's heard it, so he does look over at Itachi, surprised.]

Itachi?

( They're not particularly close but also not very far from Sakura's temple which explains why she's out for a walk this evening. Things have been rather active at her temple these last few days what with their surprise guests and a new shinki to accommodate but things are beginning to return to normal. Or rather, a new normal is beginning to set. Still, with so much going on, she also feels restless these days and hopes that a short walk outside might clear her mind.

Adjusting the shawl over her shoulders a bit, she breathes into her hands, trying to warm herself up a little. It's starting to get a little chilly so maybe she'll head back. She freezes when she thinks she hears someone though. Is... someone there? She remains quiet for a moment, not wanting to draw attention to herself but after a moment, she can make out a familiar shadow not too far from her and a familiar voice that only confirms who it is, )

Lavi? ( What's that about the road? Is something in the way? ) Is something the matter?

Sakura.

[There's something in his voice, his breath catching in his throat. He doesn't seem to react otherwise to her presence, though he's usually more exuberant about how he greets her.

However, with how things have gotten lately, it's just a little more harder wanting to care about anything right now.]

What're you doing out here?

[ Suou often sneaks out at night. When Nanako is settled in and when he's fairly sure she has no need to leave the temple. He frequently walks the grounds of the temple to be sure nothing is amiss. But with the end loaf of bread in hand it's clear evening patrol is to also to feed the koi fish one last time.

It's when he notices Lavi, he frowns a bit as his blue eyes narrow warily.]

Are you lost?

[Oh, scary man.

Lavi holds up a hand up in defense, smiling slightly.]

Uh, yeah, I am. I never really wander around these parts and was trying to find my way home.

[Alex had been having difficulty sleeping again. Her thoughts kept her awake, and sometimes, there weren’t even thoughts. She simply laid there in some sort of haze, unable to sleep.

So here she was, wandering about in the dark. She didn’t feel scared of anything coming out to attack her, but there was someone she was afraid would pop up. He’d only appeared once so far during the party, but it terrified her to think he’d appear once more.

Which is why she freezes when she notices a figure to the side. It takes a moment, but since her eyes had adjusted already, she was able to recognize who ot was, her body visibly relaxing.

Still, it was strange to see him at this hour, and the way he seemed curled was concerning. So Alex approaches.]

Lavi..? Are you feeling okay..?

[Was this like when they first met? Was he hurt?]

[It really isn't that strange for him at all, but he's usually a little more discreet when it comes to this sort of thing.

He doesn't answer at first, not wanting to, so his eye slides over to her.]

...I'm fine. Just a headache.

[Lavi wasn’t the only one checking out other people’s temples, though Kamui was there more to check on their fridges. He’d ignore the guy, but how could he not be curious about someone swishing their finger around in the air. It was kind of like what that blue dude was doing.

When the hammer comes swinging towards him the moment he’s close enough, Kamui lifts his arm, stopping it by the palm of his hand against the face of the hammer. He holds it back effortlessly, pushing it aside enough so he can be seen.]

You know, I was told that we’re not supposed to ve swinging hammers at people. Unless that guy was lying.

Who the hell are you?

[And what are you even doing around these parts?]

[Oh. Well, it's nice to see a familiar face, even if they're just standing around being distracted, or something. So, uh, Patchouli goes up to Lavi to greet him.]

Oh, hello there.

[She's about to get clobbered isn't she]

[He pulls back his hammer, looking sheepish.]

How have you been?

[It's as Lavi is approaching the gates to Epona's temple that eyes flash in the darkness on the walls, and- ]

[Oh, wait, it's just Chikusa and Ken's demon cat Pookie, it's fine.]

Halt! What is the purpose of your trespass?

[Cats gotta be dramatic, you know how it is.]

[...A cat.

Lavi blinks once.]

I was just taking a walk.

[Ayumu's place of residence has been in flux since leaving Hakkai. Some nights, she's slept in the abandoned temple she's been gradually starting to call home, despite it not being the most livable or hospitable of places. On others, she's spent most of her time loitering around the bar where Gojyo and Tsuzuki work. After the chaos with the rifts had come to an end, she'd been staying with Souji at Hachiman's temple. And now it'll likely change again with her swift reassignment to a new goddess.

In spite of all of this, Ayumu has a smile on her face when she arrives at the agreed meeting place. True to her word, she's dressed up a bit for the occasion in another fashionable red dress, black leggings, short-heeled leather ankle boots, and a light scarf patterned with maple leaves. She's left her hair down aside from her long bangs which she's pinned back from her face with a pair of flower barrettes.

She's been looking forward to today since they'd first planned it, even more after her recent scare. Not only because it's an opportunity for them both to get away from their troubles but also because it's a chance to see Lavi again. He's been a consistent bright spot in her life lately. It's nice.]

Hello, Lavi. How are you?

[It's tempting to reach out and take his hand, give it a warm squeeze. Maybe it's from the time she's been spending with the tactile Souji lately? Either way, she hesitates a little to make the first move and so suddenly. Much like with the dance at the banquet, she's not quite sure how to proceed at the moment.]

[When he notices Ayumu, there's the initial urge to stare, to take the sight in. It's really not every day he sees her like this, so he feels tempted to just drink in the sight of her. Then again, he's never felt this same urge to do it to anyone else, so he simply gives her a grin.]

Doing pretty good. What about you, Ayumu?

[He notes the hesitance, his grin softening as he reaches over to take her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.]

[ Walking around the heavens can mean running into quite a few people, which may not be the best thing if you're feeling jumpy. After all, what if the person you recognize is also someone who causes a response in that hammer? She seems to have certainly adjusted to the modern design of the world since he'd seen her last, that's for sure. ]

You look like you've seen a ghost.

....I've had a long couple of days.

But he does force himself to lower his hammer, even if his hammer seems to fluctuate with power upon recognizing Hannah.]

Prayer Chain starting with #65 for #15 (Oct 6th 2016)

[ Kairi arrives at Cardia's temple looking for Lavi at a brisk pace, having jogged in places and fast-walked in others, however fast she could get Joy the Soulless Shinki to move. When it wasn't that fast, Kairi simply used the opportunity to jog ahead and then walk back to where Joy was steadily moving. Normally Kairi would just arrive on the back of the cloud Nimbus, but not today. She didn't want to impose so much, but she had other reasons too. ]

Let's see, Joy... time to find Lavi and see if we can help him out.

[ A text or phone call from him is generally enough to get her coming over as soon as possible, but today it didn't seem like h was in a rush. Perhaps because he was just so busy? She'd find out soon. ]

[When he noticed the prayer to Cardia - Hel - requesting assistance, it was enough to pique his own interest. It was just worst given the fact that it's mostly because of how related it is to Loki. But Lavi would admit to not being in a rush, simply wanting to do what he can to help out this place without imposing too much.

And who better to ask for help than Kairi?

He notices Kairi and the soulless shinki first, something flickering in his eye upon seeing the soulless one. Lavi has never spent too much time around any of them, but there's always something about them that made him feel uneasy. Even so, he lifts a hand up in greeting.]

Kairi, over here! [He casts the soulless shinki a curious look.] Who's your friend?
