Samhain for the Dagda's win
Who: Shizuo and open to anyone!
When: October 31st (afternoon) into the beginning of November
Where: An Dagda's Abode - The Western District
Summary: So, Shizuo died. Except he didn't go home when he disappeared. It turns out he was just changing positions. Tags will likely be in bracket format- the log is written this way mostly for setting things up.
1. The Rise - October 31st
The Celtic gods that had a stretch of forest as part of their temple lands would find that on this 'spooky' day, one that's a little more sacred to their pantheon, it's grown to be a little more expansive than last night. Or even earlier in the day. If they continued, they'd realize that eventually the flora grows to be far more lush and alive, with a considerable amount of wildlife in it. In the distance, which would actually be the front of the new temple grounds, searching through would lead the person past a river and to the bottom of a cliff face. One that would seem to have no easy climb, even with the support beam to the partially suspended building atop it. However, if one was patient or perceptive enough, they'd be able to find the tunnel entrance that would ascend into the cliff and to... Well, one would have to go through to find out that it was another entrance into the temple home.
The front of the temple grounds were marginally better landscaped, with the circle of shrines to the new god on open front lawn before showing the single story building
It certainly wasn't the kind of thing that Shizuo had been expecting to wake to- In the unfamiliar bed, or with scars that he's pretty sure weren't there the last he remembered. At least, the last he remembered back in Ikebukuro. To those that had learned of his disappearance and were trying to find him, he's appeared again! Some had even received confused responses to the messages that were left from the past four days.
(Other Celtic gods don't have to have the connection or close proximity. It's something that was discussed with one and I'm leaving open for the others to choose)
2. A Strange Familiarity
Between it already getting late and having the daze of being in a new place, Shizuo doesn't actually leave the temple grounds until the following day. While he had some idea of the Far Shore, it's through one out of context memory with two people he didn't really know that has him walking through the districts. The place seemed both expansive and close-knit at the same time. He wasn't much of a message board person in the first place, so asking that way didn't actually feel right.
Of course this meant stopping by people he's about to walk by to get their attention, having no sense of recognition in his expression. "Ah, sorry. This is kind of out of nowhere, but you don't happen to know a guy that has similar looks to mine, or a teenaged girl with short red hair, about this height?"
He'd motion to someone that was almost a foot shorter than him.
Until he actually had seen Yona or Izumo. Which is where it seemed easier to ask about them than say anything to them directly. Probably because it's hard to ask a near stranger whether or not you had a movie marathon with them.
3. Wildcard
(AKA Obligatory 'whatever else you want'. You know where to hit me for plotting.)

[ Not that he'll actually get anything in that assignment, but sometimes that's just how it goes. Also, he's not about to ask for help on where to find places- That's a little silly.
This does seem like a good enough point to figure something else out, if this guy was so willing to share information. ]
Is it better that I don't get my memories back, and kind of keep this clean slate?
[ How clean can the slate of a temporary corpse be? Even if he doesn't remember, it doesn't erase things for everyone else. ]
no subject
So he takes his time figuring out that information, giving it a soft hum. ]
Good question. Those who know you would probably prefer if you remembered them- but that's them, not you. So I guess if you enjoy surprises starting anew with no memory might be fun for you. [ Surprise friends, lovers, enemies showing up at your door, hearing about your own exploits or mistakes ]
But you don't like surprises very much, no?
no subject
If you knew me much at all, you'd know that doesn't have to be asked.
[ He's not particularly impressed by them and the Shizuo that has all his memories back has even more reason to dislike those surprises. ]
Not that I should bother asking- It's not like I've got a choice as to whether or not I get those memories back.
no subject
[ Caster immediately delivers this incredibly helpful advice. Because surely throwing yourself down for a tumble down set of stairs is a smart thing to do.
And for the record, his own accident could go otherwise, the fall could have been induced by the fact of getting the memories back... but it doesn't sound as funny. ]
no subject
It's gonna have to be a bigger fall than that for me. I dealt with a falling construction crane and only got a dislocated shoulder for it.
[ Is he trying to be funny right on back? Well, it'd be a test of how well Cu really knows him to figure that out. ]
cw: hypothetical gore mention
Woah- badass. [ Those things are huge ] But you sure it was just dislocated shoulder? You could simply not notice all other injuries.
[ Still, this is a fair point. Caster taps his chin and nods to himself twice. Lack of pain response might make it impossible for the stairs trick to work. ]
Right- now I see why it could not work as intended.
[ Last thing they need is to have Shizuo walking with an open skull until someone points the gore out ]
no subject
[ Never mind that this is a blackmarket doctor that may or may not have ever gotten his actual practitioners license, but he was very skilled and is the most knowledgeable on how to handle Shizuo's injuries.
But now this makes him acutely aware that Caster knows about the pain tolerance thing. ]
I'd probably catch myself before anything happened from some fall, too. I don't exactly let myself get injured all the time.
no subject
[ If anything, Shizuo talking about past happenings like that crane, or a doctor- he lost some of the memories here but regained of his whole life. That's a good trade-off ]
So- why do you dress like a bartender?
[ SUDDENLY A QUESTION, there is a bullshit wink on the icon, applicable here ]
no subject
[ And suddenly, that. Are you hoping for some answer like 'I'm a host' or that he's actually a bartender? While he only dressed like that on days he was working at Izumo's bar, as a shinki, there's a more or less practical reason here as well. Especially when he doesn't remember what happened for Caster to know about it being that regular.
It's not exactly the most confidence-inspiring answer, however. In fact, he's rubbing the back of his neck a little. ]
My brother- Back when I worked as a bartender, he bought a large box of uniforms in celebration of me holding the job down. So I kept wearing them when I started working as a bodyguard.
[ Completely avoiding the subject of why he'd been having trouble holding jobs, or why he switched to bodyguard. Or how his brother was able to buy so many at once. ]
I was on the job last I remembered, before I woke up here.
no subject
Ah, so you simply used the gift as intended. [ As work uniform, no matter what kind of job he's taking... ] You're going to look for a job like this too here?
[ Some popular gods are loaded by the very nature of being popular gods though ]
no subject
[ He didn't know how to explain it, and it felt weird referring to the world he knew as another 'shore,' and differentiating by calling them the living. It's not like he died. Except he might actually have died, despite not having any idea of how that happened. ]
I was thinking of figuring this whole god thing out.
no subject
As for the job thing- yeah it's kind of pain to keep their attention but... [ Le shrug. There is one good reason to try and keep a part-time job here, and it's... the same as everywhere else. Money ] On the other hand, you could always just take things freely as a tribute.
[ That's how you rationalize stealing ]
no subject
Caster, this is someone who has a bad temper at times, which leads to property damage and odd logic circles, but he's otherwise closer to being Lawful than anything else. He looks very unimpressed by that suggestion. ]
That's not tribute- that's stealing. Which I'm not about to go doing. Don't they provide you with the things you need here? You shouldn't need to do that.
no subject
Indeed it is, but that's how some here get by. [ Go on, ask Chikusa. ] I prefer the part-timer route, not out necessity mind you. You don't have to worry about rent or food, your temple is your own and gods don't really need to eat anyway.
[ A pause as he taps his chin ]
Besides... being around people can help in figuring out how to help them as a god.
no subject
He'll go past the getting stuff and not needing to eat- that wasn't so surprising, so he lets the conversation continue along its path. ]
You say that but I wasn't really good at being around people normally, either.
no subject
Then it's best to focus on what they ask of you. What kind of prayer they send to you.
[ They're probably a similar lot that follows him- if not the same people, polytheism with this mythology is definitely a default thing ]
no subject
Ah... Do you have an idea of what kind of prayers I'd be getting?
[ Seeing as you seemed to know the significance of why he showed up tonight, of all nights. ]
no subject
[ Should he also add that he was a leader of all the gods at one point, or would that be too much pressure? ]
Not many druids around these days, but those seeking help with arcane arts, might turn to you. [ Some left-overs must be though, they wouldn't be around otherwise ] You can hear pleas of general advice with life, maybe something to help with crops, or with an incoming exam.
[ Or not, the prayers are not always what you expect them to be ]
But it's not going to be just serious stuff- celebrations, music. A cheater might pray to you his affair is never found out, or a man having problems with siring an heir.
no subject
I'm not any of those things. Whoever decided this whole thing made a huge mistake.
[ Well, some might see and count him for the fearsome warrior- he was in tight with the Valkyrie, after all. You'd have to be a great warrior to get along with her, right? Not that he sees it like that. ]
All this shit's beyond me.
no subject
[ They prefer to do it on their own, seems they figured out gods are either too lazy or got too packed schedules to be reliable firepower. ]
You'll do good, don't worry about it. [ Have a one (1x) friendly pat in the back. See someone believes in you. ]
no subject
Yeah- yeah... I don't know about that. Between all of that and her, I really don't know how I'm supposed to do anything.
[ 'Her' being the young lady, with long wavy hair, standing off to stare out the large windows. She didn't have much presence, being a soulless, so she wasn't someone that would catch much attention. ]
no subject
[ Yeah, kind of creepy. Unless you're used to a concept of human weapons, then one without much personality is probably blessed - or a blessing to their wielder, take your pick ]
If you'd rather hunt ayakashi then work on prayers, then you take her with you and wander the Near Shore. It's good to look for signs of weird things, places where a lot of people died recently for example. Then exterminate what attacks you.
