What is Resting 101

Where: Xihe temple, Double Cross Bar, somewhere on the Far Shore and Near Shore
What: After the events of the forest, Izumo has to rest. The problem is: what is resting? Ft. a special horse.


[A. The Temple of the Sun]

[After the horrors of the forest event, Izumo has been ordered to be on bedrest. While he understands the reason for it, one must not forget:

Izumo hates the idea of resting.

His shinki has a handful with their god and making him believe in resting. Though Izumo has been good, he also gets bored rather easily without something to keep his mind occupied. After all, the idea of lazing around and doing nothing is something that Izumo does not necessarily believe in, even if he does take impromptu trips when he can for one reason or another. He still has some burn marks on his skin from his attempts to defeat the plants that prevented him from leaving, covered up in bandages.

Anyone who decides to come visit Izumo would find him in the rather spacious living room with a notebook laid out on the coffee table in front of him while a movie is playing through the projector screen. However, what probably stands out is the horse casually eating out of a tub beside the couch.

Izumo sends it a look when it snorts.]

[Basashi snorts again.]

[B. Resting 101

[It’s particularly late at night when Izumo has to actually sneak out of his own temple.

He needs to get away for a bit, which does lead him to either (a) go to Double Cross bar for some much needed late night drinks or (b) he ends up taking Basashi out and watching in bemusement as the Strain turns white and stretching its wings.

Either way, if he gets caught, he’ll just greet the person with a wave while casually smoking a cigarette.]

When Two Usually Responsible Adults Decide To Not Rest Late At Night

[Just Like Izumo, another gets bored extremely easy when there is nothing to do. Luckily, a friend of his managed to find his phone that his naughty shinki babysitter hid and cannot sleep. Besides, he does want to see how Izumo is doing...

And so, there will be a text sent out late evening from Aymeric, mainly because most are sleeping so he needs to be quiet.]

How are you feeling, my friend?

[He really is feeling restless. Stir crazy, really. Why is rest a thing.]

I am as well. Others are resting and yet I am unable to. However I am grateful for finding my device: Sukomi refused to let me have it because it counts as work.

[ Honestly, Judar had been extremely vigilant in the first several days of Izumo being back, making sure that he was resting. Not because he was actually concerned with the man's health. Instead it was because of far pettier reasons.

First Yata decides that he must get a birthday, and seemed to have decided when that was. Then it was either the day of or day after it that half the damn temple disappeared.

Which is why Judar had no trouble coming in when it seemed Izumo was getting restless and sitting on his lap to keep him in place. Just for those first days. Between that and there now being two horses around, Izumo got to see just how petty Judar could be at times. Which has included him taking possession of a particular pair of sunglasses and keeping it somewhere in his shirt. He used to hang around the living room and play things, or try to understand whatever is being played on the tv or anything else. He was about to do that until he saw the horse in the living room and Izumo watching something else. ]

[It's rather fortunate that Izumo has a rather..unique understanding of Judar that he isn't even bothered by what his first shinki does. He does feel bad that they've decided on a date for Judar's birthday, only for the whole forest event to be taken.

Really, Judar's pettiness is amusing at times that Izumo doesn't feel bothered.

He glances over at him.]

The crows hate being in here. [Izumo sounds amused.] Don't mind Basashi so much. He's usually a good horse.

[Basashi whinnies at Judar in greeting.]

[ There was probably going to be a point where he grudgingly accepted and secretly got fond of the birthday. Now there's the set decision that it's a shitty day and something bad was bound to start happening. Which is why he didn't hesitate when Amaterasu posed the idea of seeing if Judar wanted to share in the blame. ]

[ He's staring at that weird horse, with the weird name. Without even breaking contact with it, ]

[ Sorey had just decided to take a walk. He couldn't sleep, so why not spend some time enjoying the fresh air? However, it's the sight of the horse spreading its wings that cause him to stop in his tracks. ]

--Woah! That horse is really beautiful!

[The horse practically looks thrilled upon being complimented.

Izumo holds back a snort.]

Thank you. He enjoys the compliment, too.

[ He laughs a little at that. ]

Guess so. Animals really do understand more than most people think they do, huh?

A. GDI Izumo

[ He'd left most of the Izumo-Mandatory-Bedrest Patrol to Judar with the occasional check-in, mostly because he had his own patrol to worry about, because keeping Saru in bed to rest was just as difficult. Not the bed part, that was mostly fine, but the RESTING? Not so much.

But since Saru had actually drifted off for a nap with a cat curled up on each side of him a while ago, Yata makes his way into the main building of the temple to check in with his god.

And comes to an abrupt stop at the sight of Izumo and.... ]

[In which Fushimi and Izumo really are alike when it comes to resting.

Because it's going to start picking a fight with the crows outside.

[Basashi is leering at you, Yata.]

[ Yata freezes, giving the horse a wary look. ]

....And why is a horse picking a fight with crows?

[ Eric had rested enough that he was wide awake in the middle of the night so he decided to go and get some fresh air. Shun and Ren were asleep so he didn't have to stay and check on them, plus it was nice to be out.

He managed to wander enough where he was close to the area of Izumo's bar and spotted said bartender heading towards the door. He jogged up to him, more relieved than mad he was up and about. Yata had told him what had happened. ]

Kusanagi-san...you're okay!

Hm?

[Izumo looks over, smiling at him.]

Sorry for worrying you, Eric.

[ He shakes his head. ]

Just, good to know you're okay.

[ He tilts his head, giving him a deadpan look. ]

You're suppose to be resting, aren't you? Sneaking out?

B (because resting is terrible and they shouldn't have to, right?)

[Hakkai's half through a walk -- he has been staying in, and having been more drained than he was actually injured, he's losing patience with taking care of himself. He did, however, decide to be sensible enough to leave Bon at home. He can't wrestle a dog twice his size; a long walk, though, is just about the escape he's been looking for.

And he's keeping a keen eye out for wayward forests.

Izumo, though... he's fairly sure, in all that fuss, he remembers Izumo being bound on one of the sigils himself. Hakkai offers him a slightly lopsided smile.]

Fortunately, Basashi is a rather docile creature despite the headaches Izumo gets from caring for the horse. Honestly, of all the things to come from home, why the horse.

Still, Izumo manages a lopsided smile in return.]

Rest is important but so are horses

[Resting is awful, and as much as Nari wants to harp on Izumo to do it, it feels a little hypocritical when he can't get himself to do it either. So it's no surprise to him to find his boyfriend not in bed when he swings by after taking care of things at his own home. Knowing the blonde, there's one place Izumo was sure to go if he was trying to avoid rest.

Except Izumo wasn't at the bar. It sends some panic into the red head as he tries not to run to find the other. It's all shoved aside momentarily when he spies a horse-no! Better! A pegasus!

He doesn't even hear the greeting, instead just staring at the winged horse with a low of awe. This is amazing!!]

[Izumo blinks once when he notices Nari. He opens his mouth to say something else, to attract his attention to him, though it quickly becomes lost when he notices the awed stare Nari is currently giving Basashi.

Bemused, he looks over at the Strain horse that stares back at Nari.

The blond turns back to his boyfriend.]

...Do you want to come closer to greet him properly?

[This isn't like Celestia, because Celestia is tiny and doesn't count to Nari. And the unicorn he has stuffed back at his place also isn't a pegasus. Out of all the horse type creatures he's tried to track down in his time being a god, this is what's always eluded him. AND NOW THERE'S ONE RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF HIM]

... h-huh? Oh. Wait. He's yours? Can I?

[ The horse was probably something to react to, but Izumo being out while he was clearly still not okay took priority. ]

Yo--Don't 'yo' me..! Shouldn't you be resting!?

[ Alex had seen that he was one of the victims, so she can assume he's in about the same state as Kaden. And Kaden was forbidden from getting up till he got better. With how firm she was being with Kaden, she couldn't help but scold the blond. ]

[ Ranulf had been feeling antsy and had been meaning to stretch his legs out and try to get used to this strange land. He figured at night with less people around he can get used to certain things and explore without causing too much attention to himself.

Upon seeing a man with a Pegasus of all things, he perks up, ears and all as he quickens his pace to greet them. ]

Oh ho a Pegasus! A sight for sore eyes.

[ To say he wasn't a little home sick he would be lying, but it was nice to see something reminding him of his much simpler home. He tilts over, seeing the man that was holding it's reigns. ]

Are you it's rider?

[ He's never heard of a male Pegasus knight but, these were different places indeed. ]
