May Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: November 21st
Where: Outside the Meeting Hall, the Far Shore & Capypa Land
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the rear of the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

Once they've had a chance to have things explained, they'll have the chance (veterans and new arrivals alike) to go spend the rest of the day in a very magical place...!

Meeting Hall

God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a much nicer room than the warehouse where the last set of new gods got their informational speech. It's a smaller meeting room, with tatami floors and a small dais at the front of the room where the speaker stands. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter.

The speaker is a few minutes late, and looks rushed and a bit stressed, but delivers her speech with the intonation of someone who's practiced it many times. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out old "From Ama" magazines with articles describing the Heavens, profiling important gods, and interviewing successful shinki. They will be happy to answer any questions or instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline. They also accompany their answers, or lessons, with an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

The dojo doesn't seem quite prepared for everyone's arrival; the usual weapons are nowhere to be seen, the animated targets are missing, and there aren't even any standard paper or straw targets for newcomers to train with. The space is still available, though, in case any gods want to transform and practice working with their new shinki.

Capypa Land

Rides and Refreshments

Capypa Land is a theme park filled with roller coasters, themed rides, movies, costumed mascot characters dressed as Capypa and plenty of opportunities for photographs, souvenirs and sightseeing! Restaurants and snack stands throughout the park mean lots of places to relax and grab lunch, and there's even a winter illumination -- thousands of lights twinkle to life on trees and buildings around the park after night falls.

(Think Disneyland, themed on cartoon capybara instead of cartoon mice.)

Rather than put together a reception at the Meeting Hall, today, the white-robed heavenly shinki are offering new arrivals tickets to Capypa Land and guiding them to the park entrance. Newcomers can relax, enjoy themselves and get to know their new gods or shinki in a family-friendly environment. Any more experienced gods or shinki who volunteer to help with the training can claim one of the Capypa Land tickets for themselves, too. Buy yourself a Capypa ear headband, mingle with the Friday crowds, have your picture taken with a mascot, and don't forget to stay for the dinnertime parade and fireworks!

The Happiest Place on Earth?

Capypa Land is a theme park in the Near Shore, so it's not quite as safe from ayakashi as the Heavens. Can anyone be sad in such a happy place? Well... stressed families, long lines, angry customers and bad dates produce enough negative emotion to attract occasional ayakashi. Make sure to keep an eye out for malicious spirits, from tiny little insects buzzing around and raising family tension to bigger boogeymen created by childhood fears.

On the other hand, maybe this is an opportunity! Why not lend a hand and practice your teamwork by rending a few of those ayakashi? With so many gods and shinki at the park for the day, all those troublesome spirits can be exorcised to make sure the park visitors have a truly magical time.

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Visit Capypa Land
  • Have fun~

[ Nanako might not recognize the person standing there trying to take in everything at once, but she's been here long enough now that she recognizes the confused face of a fellow god or shinki and feels a little more confident in approaching even a stranger in a situation like this. Besides, she always has people watching over her everywhere, so it's still relatively safe.

But taking in his awe - and his hesitation - she wanders over to his side with a bright grin. ]

It's really neat, huh?

[One thing that had managed to escape his line of vision up until now was a child. For a moment he stares at Nanako, surprise widening his eyes at her bright grin and excited face. Was she not worried about this place? Had she... perhaps been here awhile? The idea of someone that young away from home brought an ache to his chest that he tried to push away as he grinned brightly at her, nodding.]

We have nothing like this back home. A carnival of wonderful things-- so I've heard. But not... whatever those are.

[He jerks his chin towards one of the rollercoasters, watching the descent of a car down the hill with a bit of fear and awe before letting his gaze drift back to Nanako, his smile warm.]

Have you been here awhile?

At the Park? [ She looks a little baffled by this question before shaking her head with a cheerful smile. ] No! I just came today with everyone else. I've never been to this one before. But I was at a different one, once. My dad took me to one, one time, back home. This one's really cute, though, I think it might be more fun.

[ Although since he'd indicated a ride, she peers in that direction, just as a string of cars descends a steep hill with the distant shrieks of its passengers and she gives an understanding nod, her eyes wide. ]

Yeeeeeah. That's a roller coaster. That one is one of the scarier rides, because it goes really fast but it's not dangerous, it just feels exciting, that's why everyone yells a lot. Although I don't think I'd like that one. There are lots of other rides that are fun, too, though, if you don't want to do the really fast ones.

Roller Coaster... I don't think I'll be going near that one. It looks a little ...dangerous.

[The name itself is tell enough in a way. It sounds a bit like goblin gibberish to him, and he's reminded of stories of mine carts on rickety tracks he's heard tell of. They're clearly close to being the same thing. Somehow.

He turns his attention back to Nanako, wondering how so young a girl manages to be off on her own so easily. Concerned, he peers at her, then around to see if she indeed has no guardian.
]

Do you not have a guardian with you, miss?

A guardian? [ Nanako blinks curiously at the question a moment before brightening with a smile when she figures it out. ] Oh! My shinki are here somewhere, I think they went to find some food. And I have other friends around, too. Is that what you mean?

Yes.

[He smiles, relieved for this before fixing his eyes on her once more.]

It's a pleasure to meet you today, miss, despite the strange circumstances surrounding it. I'm... Anduin.

[The godly name doesn't flow off of the tongue so soon, and he draws comfort from his real name in this time. Even without the title behind it it feels right.]

[ It's fine, she doesn't even notice, just smiling up at him happily. He seems nice, and she knows it can be really scary when you first get here, after all. ]

Hi, Anduin! I'm Nanako. Or Nanshe, that's the god I'm here to be, but you can just call me Nanako. You must be new here, huh?

Nanako. It's very nice to meet you.

[She seems sweet, and he feels a little calmer for it, somehow. If she's being brave and cheerful then by the Light he can handle this too.]

I am. It's been a lot to handle so far, but... this part is nice so far. I've never been able to go someplace like this before.

There's lots of nice places that you can see and explore here. Not all of them are as noisy or as crowded as this, though. [ She knows that unnerves a lot of her friends here, and she knows it probably only makes a first day here all the more confusing. This place is certainly more crowded than even the festival day Nanako showed up on, all those months ago. ] It's okay if you're confused though, when you're new. There's lots of strange new things to learn about. You're a god, right?
