[After Kija is convinced to stay home from Jae-Ha's exciting drinking outing (it's surprisingly hard to do, even after one sip knocked him down before), he quickly realizes he has nothing to do but putter around the temple and make sure everything looks neat. Everything sure does look neat.

Hmm.

This total boredom continues on for the duration of Jae-Ha's outing, and it's not like Kija purposely waited up for him, except for the fact that he most certainly did. He's up waiting for him now, whenever he comes home, just because! He needs to be sure that his second most important person comes home safe from his wild night out.

He also poured some water, but it's been sitting there for like two hours now.]

[Somehow, Jae-Ha survives this night of meeting with strangers from the internet. He returns pretty late... probably because he hadn't expected that anyone would be waiting up for him. He blinks when he steps through the doorway just to find Kija sitting there, stopping in place just a few feet away.]

You're still awake?

[bighand]

[He's known Kija for a whole few days, technically, and he doesn't expect this?? At least he hasn't been sitting up because he's angry, or anything - it's close to concern, but honestly at the moment he looks like he's been nodding off for a little while. He straightens up when Jae-Ha comes in, trying to look more awake.]

Of course! Wide awake!

[Jae-Ha looks surprised for a moment before his expression softens. Yes, the more he thinks of it, the more it does make sense for Kija to be awake. But now he's just wondering things like—]

Have you eaten?

[He hopes he hadn't inconvenienced him or their god by being out so late. Had he been too selfish, wanting to get out and distract himself from things like that? Maybe.]

[bighand]

[Jae-Ha... stop feeling bad and come over here before Kija really falls asleep sitting up.]

Yes— together, we washed the dishes. [lowkey godmodes Yona retroactively sorry beans

Anyway, he reaches for the glass of water he set out and holds it up.]

This is for you.

[Water, because he is so thirsty??

He's honestly touched by that. And glad to hear that he and Yona were able to enjoy a meal together. He wonders how that went... But for now, he'll finally cross the room and accepts the glass.]

Ah... Thank you. [Why water...? Well, it's not a bad idea after how much he drank, so he'll take a long sip right now!]

[Because what else is Kija supposed to give him... It could be his excuse for still being up, if he weren't sleepy and felt the need to give an excuse. Or maybe he spirit-googled and learned water is good to drink while... drinking!! Or both!

Anyway, sorry it's kind of room temperature.]

Jae-Ha... I want to talk to you.

[Talk to him...? What could that be about? He takes his time drinking this room temperature water as he tries to think of what it might be. Could Kija have recognized feelings for Yona while he was gone? Or maybe, someone was giving him trouble...

Jae-Ha puts the glass down on the table, looking at Kija more seriously.]

Yes? What is it?

[It's been a few days, give him time for those serious things. He was only tricked into stealing school supplies once, he's not in trouble...]

Jae-Ha, we're comrades, aren't we? Do you trust me?

[razzledazzles]

[Kija is so pure, he could have been taken advantage by anyone!]

Of course! [He places a hand on his own chest. You can tell me anything, Kija, so please, let me know what's troubling you!] As I've already said, we're comrades.

[bighand]

[Maybe, BUT somehow his purity saved him... Anyway, he's very glad to hear this, as usual!! Although his bright and cheerful reaction is more muted, since it's a weird hour of the late night/early morning.]

Then you wouldn't mind doing something important for me?

[razzledazzles]

[Something important...? What could that be? Kija has come to him in his time of need, and Jae-Ha can't simply turn that down!!]

Yes, of course. What is it that you need?

[Jae-Ha!! What a good man! Kija sways sleepily for just another moment, before he leans forward to grasp Jae-Ha's wrist very tightly. Good morning.]

Let me see your leg.

Uh— whoa!

[Wait, that's what this is about!? Jae-Ha half leans back, even if he doesn't pull his wrist out of grip.] Wait a minute, that's—

[NO??]

April 10th - zoo date

[razzledazzles]

[He'd slept rather well last night, despite all the emotions, but it had certainly left him with a lot to think about as well. Yona, the only one of them who had her memories and likely couldn't say anything about them. Kija, who was clearly connected to Jae-Ha, the arm to his leg— and the missing spaces he couldn't help but feel in his chest. After all of those side dates the night before, nothing could really beat this, could it?

If he wanted to clear his mind the most, perhaps some time with one of them would be best.

So, some time the next morning, as they finish their breakfast and after Yona has left for the day, Jae-Ha perks up with a smile.]

Would you accompany me to the zoo again today, Kija?

[bighand]

[Last night sure had been... an experience. Kija isn't embarrassed about crying all over Jae-Ha, but for the sake of a perfectly normal breakfast he hasn't brought it up at all, specifically not when Yona is with them. She must have already felt it, and in the middle of her sleep, too! So. He is, very considerately, sparing her thinking he needs more comforting, or something kind and understanding like she would no doubt come up with.

When Jae-Ha speaks, he's taking his breakfast dishes over to the sink. He's getting very good at handling dishes without almost breaking them with his big hand...]

The zoo? [Dark memories from a day or so ago...... things with wiggly legs...] I will not enter that den of creepy crawly creatures a second time.

[razzledazzles]

We can avoid the bugs. There are many marvelous creatures we missed out on, that day. I found out only afterwards.

[They barely got to see anything! Because they started investigating and went to the petting zoo nearby, instead... but that had been important in its own way.] Wouldn't you like to see a creature with scales like our own? Or a large cat? Small, cute things like the animals we fed before?

[bighand]

[Does that mean he can't spend the whole day covered in baby goats...? That's a little disappointing. But hmm, scaly things, very persuasive.]

Yes. [which one?? all.] Alright. Do we have any tasks set aside for today, first? Besides these dishes.

[razzledazzles]

I hadn't thought of anything.

[Was he supposed to do that? Shit, maybe he should be. He's the adult figure here now. He can't be living each day by winging it like he wants to...]

Is there anything we need at this temple?

[bighand]

[Good thing Kija is here to worry about things like propriety and straws. He leans slightly to look past Jae-Ha, out into the next room... Well, the furniture is strange, but it's usable, so maybe they're okay for one day?]

I do not need anything else. [jk he'll think of something to criticize soon enough.] And everything seems to be to her satisfaction, so...

I believe we can be on our way.

[razzledazzles]

[Perfect. He doesn't even have to convince him to leave immediately!! So, with their dishes taken care of, he moves to where they can get back to the near shore.

Once they're there, the first thing Jae-Ha does is pull out a map and pass it over to Kija. It's a pretty big zoo, and there are cutesy little pictures of each animal to mark the exhibits.]

So, where would you like to start?

[bighand]

[One cute piggyback ride later... Kija takes the map with a glance at Jae-Ha - when did he grab this the first time! - before unfolding it to peer at all the cute little animal pictures. How precious.]

We are closest to the large cats, so why don't we start there?

[razzledazzles]

Alright.

[But one more thing he's going to pull out is his phone. He steps beside Kija, opening it to the camera function.]

But first, why don't we record our time here together? Let's take a picture! [Pictures are fantastic, he thinks, so now he's going to crouch as much as he can to try and get Kija and himself in the same shot. This is hard.]

[What is this, what is he doing? Kija has only just looked up from the map to find a phone being waved around and Jae-Ha doing something mysterious, hmm. Okay. He lowers the map and tilts his head closer to Jae-Ha's, maybe knocking them together a little, but he's in the shot now!]

Do you plan on sharing this with everyone? [Don't do that. His serious face is already making this picture silly.]

[razzledazzles]

[He snaps a picture once he gets the chance!! And then, pulls the phone close to himself to take a look at it. Hm. The angle is awkward, and his own smiling face next to Kija's serious one...

He has to cover his mouth to hold back a laugh.] Maybe not.

[Maybe he will, though, no promises.] Now then, big cats! This way...? [He steps off, hopefully in the right direction.]

[No!! Don't shame him so readily, what kind of comrade does that?]

Hmm. [He takes a shuffling step after Jae-Ha, consulting the map one more time— and promptly reaching out to grab onto him and stop him from going that way. He tugs, whether or not he gets a handful of robe or ponytail.]

No! This way appears to hold... giant insects of some form. [He shudders. (It's a little cartoon crab, on the map. Horrifying.)] We will not be going this way at all!
