When: some weird hour of April 9 after Jae-Ha returns from boozing

[After Kija is convinced to stay home from Jae-Ha's exciting drinking outing (it's surprisingly hard to do, even after one sip knocked him down before), he quickly realizes he has nothing to do but putter around the temple and make sure everything looks neat. Everything sure does look neat.

Hmm.

This total boredom continues on for the duration of Jae-Ha's outing, and it's not like Kija purposely waited up for him, except for the fact that he most certainly did. He's up waiting for him now, whenever he comes home, just because! He needs to be sure that his second most important person comes home safe from his wild night out.

He also poured some water, but it's been sitting there for like two hours now.]

They pulled out some of your hair!

[THIS IS A CRIME. He looks extra bothered as he swats his hand around, eventually pulling it back with enough strength to come free.

And fall on his butt.]

[bighand]

[A picture-perfect moment-- no, more like Kija is immediately half-kneeling at Jae-Ha's side, looking concerned for his strange bottom.]

Jae-Ha! Are you hurt? [he will FIGHT ALL OF THESE MONKEYS...]

...Not at all.

[His butt hurts a little, to be fair, but he's more staring in horror at the wad of monkey fur he managed to pull out. He drops it to the ground and looks to Kija.]

What about you? I told you not to get too close. They could have gotten to your face... Let me see. [SHOW HIM]

[bighand]

[Ew... monkey. Kija's shoulders slump in obvious relief that Jae-Ha isn't injured from monkeys!! and he's not exactly presenting his face for observing, but he's still right there.]

I am hardly concerned about that. They did not, besides...

[razzledazzles]

[With his non-monkey hand, he grabs Kija's chin and turns it left and then right, checking for any scratches. Okay, he passes. Even whatever hair was pulled out doesn't seem to be anything noticeable, thank goodness.]

You should be more careful, or I end up having to help you out of trouble every time.

[Not that he minds, but if he puts it this way, maybe it seems less affectionate than it is. He stands, brushing both of his hands off on his robe with a sigh.] I've seen enough monkeys. What about some birds?

[bighand]

[Ah, his face. He makes a vague noise of protest, since he's already insisted he's fine— or insisted that he doesn't care if monkeys rip his face off, whatever, same thing. Still, Jae-Ha's concern is touching... even with his face being grabbed like this, that touch still feels warm.

But anyway, straightening up- birds! Birds...] Do you know the way?

[The map keeps deceiving him, so. Forget it. And after a pause,] I helped you, as well. [hmph!!]

[Jae-Ha only smiles at that last part. Yes, yes, he helped him too. A brief glance around the area is all he needs to see signs pointing them the right way. Forget the map.]

Yes, over here. [He glances back as he starts walking.] Are you having a good time, Kija? Things haven't been going as planned...

Of course! The zoo is still a new experience, and we are able to share it together...

[Why wouldn't he be having a good time?? He even got to feed a bear.]

[razzledazzles]

[That's good to hear. He just hums at that. All of this is so strange, it's weird to think that they belong here. Sometimes he gets stuck thinking about the past, but... Here, with Kija, maybe they can both focus on the now.]

I think we should also be able to feed the birds.

[bighand]

[Honestly, with Jae-Ha here, it's almost impossible for Kija to have a bad time. That makes so much sense to him that it's almost too obvious for him to think of mentioning it, but Jae-Ha's asking does remind him again that things aren't as easy for him...

Maybe he will make a point to tell Jae-Ha exactly how much fun he's having more regularly. On the hour, or something.]

Really? [GREAT] I hope they're more lively than the bear.

[razzledazzles]

[On the hour, Kija please...]

Of course they will be! With wings, it's sad to think that they can't always fly freely, but know that they will never stop trying! Even if they're clipped...

[He's connecting with birds.]

[Jae-Ha, they're just birds. Calm the hell down.]

Have you been to visit the birds already? [why are you like this]

[razzledazzles]

No. But I am eager.

[Leave him alone, he's excited. They're on the way to birds!] They may even land on your hand. Wouldn't that be nice?

[bighand]

[Land on his hand...]

Only if they keep their excitement to themselves.

[if a bird shits on his hand he's burning this zoo to the ground]

They probably will.

[Probably... It might blend in, so it's fine? Anyway, here they are!! Jae-Ha has to fork up some money for a little stick of bird feed for each of them, passing one over to Kija before they walk inside.]

So, we're meant to hold them out like a little branch. They'll land and feed like that. Careful not to startle them.

[bighand]

[NO???? NO but he still takes the bird feed because he can't resist feeding a cute animal. Or any animal, apparently. Still, he's wary enough to pour some food into his left hand and hold that out for the birds instead.

He's holding very still. He will not startle the birds or so help him.]

[razzledazzles]

[Jae-Ha, meanwhile, is tall as a tree and has no problem holding out this stick like a branch. Birds land on it and his arm right away and start pecking, and a few keep diving towards Kija's, as well.]

Won't they try to eat that greedily? Be careful of your hand. Oh! That one going for you there is quite cute.

[bighand]

[internal screaming]

I am trying not to disturb them! [But, well-] It is precious...

Their feet tickle a bit.

[He carefully moves closer to Kija, holding his little stick closer to Kija's hands. Some of the birds are nasty enough to fight, but at least there are plenty of cute ones to look at.]

Do you have a favorite?

[Birds!!! His hand is still fine, still bird crap-free and not pecked too much. He's managing.]

This one here must be the leader. [he points with his free hand to the fattest bird ever. It's the leader because it's the biggest, see... He respects that.]

[razzledazzles]

[He has to cover his mouth to avoid snorting at that. Holy shit, that bird is so fat—]

The leader, you think so? Not that one over there? [He points it out.]

[bighand]

[What, that one? Please.]

No. It's too showy.

So just because it's beautiful? That's uncalled for.
