Who: Elfnein & Romeo
What: A followers dog has ran away from home! Elfnein and Romeo go pet hunting!
Where: The Near Shore, somewhere in Tokyo.

One of Romeo's jobs in the temple was to collect the prayer slips each day from the shrines so Elfnein knew who she needed to help! Most of the prayers were about learning and knowledge because Gegute was a god all about learning things! Sometimes Romeo read the prayers with Elfnein, though most of them were still too complicated for him.

This morning though one caught his eye, because it had a drawing on it. A drawing of a dog and a little girl with a crying face. He opened it up and saw that the writing looked like it had been written by a child and he could read all the words!

The words were worrying! A dog had ran away from home! His owner was worried because he had been gone a whole week and no one had seen him in all that time. The prayer explained how the dog was her best friend and she missed him so much! She thought he had gotten lost because he loved snuggles and his favourite toy, he normally wouldn't stay outside for long! She was worried that bigger dogs might have attacked him, that he could be hurt.

He used the shrine to travel back to Elfnein's temple and burst in through the doors. "Elfnein? Elfnein! We got a prayer and a little girls dog has gone missing and she's really worried! We've got to help her!"

Luckily there are plenty of things an adventurous shinki can climb on to peer over the garden fence. He surveyed the garden, it had flowers and a swing and... there! "It has a little house. That might be where the dog lived?"

Did people have houses for dogs? It was too small to be for a person, unless it was for a kid...

"Oh I see a ball and a bone as well!"

"So it must be an outdoor dog then?"

It's a bit sad to think the dog lives outside when the weather can be unpredictable.

"We should try and take the bone, it's got their smell on it."

"Okay!" And he is climbing over the fence. Soon he is in the garden and he goes over to the bone to pick it up. Maybe they should have asked first but it's only a bone and hopefully it will mean they can bring the dog back home for them.

"Can you catch it?"

"I'll try!"

They'll have to leave a note explaining their actions or something later, but for now Elfnein is ready to catch the bone and start the search.

"One, two, three!" Over the fence the dog bone goes, hopefully Elfnein either caught it or at least did not get hit by it. A few moments later it was followed by a Romeo.

"So will the dog come for the bone?"

Elfnein manages to catch it after a few almost dropping it moments from the impact of it being thrown.

"There's a good chance it will since it has it's scent and it's a toy they like"

"Right so we just got to make sure we have it with us when we search!"

[He's over the wall now and jumping back down to street level.] So we can shout Kaito and hopefully it will here us!

"Hopefully!"

Elfnein didn't know what else they could do besides walk around and yell the dog's name while waving the bone.

"Kaito! Kaito! We got your bone, Kaito!"

Romeo's voice is loud and carries clearly as he calls, waving the bone in the air. If he weren't a shinki and therefore mostly unnoticible he would be turning heads but as it was he moved through any crowds easily. Shouting Kaito's name.

"Kaito, your owners are worried!"

Elfnein's voice isn't as loud as Romeo's but she's still trying her best.

"Kaito! Kaito!"

Elfnein was loud enough! It was good to have two of them shouting and looking after all!

"Kaito! Come here Kaito!"

Romeo's eyes widened as he heard a bark.

"This way!"

And off he went running.

"Romeo wait! We might scare him if we run up!"

Elfnein was trying to catch up to the speedy shinki of hers, guess some physical training is still needed.

Romeo screeches to a halt, arms windmilling as he tries to keep his balance when he stops so suddenly.

Elfnein is right! They didn't want to scare the dog off!

He watched her as she caught up with big eyes, she would have a plan. He was sure of it!

"Instead of running after, we can stay here and they'll come back when they've calmed down."

The dog is just as scared and stressed as they are.

"Okay!" Romeo nodded and hurried back to Elfnein's side. She was definitely the expert in almost everything so he was going to follow her plan!

He kept waving the bone though, hopefully Kaito would be able to smell it and find his way towards them!

After ten or so minutes Kaito can be seen down the road carefully looking at the two of them.

"Romeo try calling him over now"

Ten minutes is a really long time but Romeo tried his best to be patient, waving the bone and looking around for any dog sightings.

Finally Kaito appeared. At Elfnein's instructions Romeo crouched down and waved the bone again gently. "Come on Kaito! You're owners are worried about you! Don't you want to go home?"

Kaito lets out a small bark as a reply and happily walks over to Romeo. His eyes are on the bone but he clearly is willing to follow the two of them.

"Kaito, let's get you home now"

Elfnein also crouched down and gave the dog a pat on the head.

"Hello Kaito!" Romeo reached out very cautiously, in case the dog decided to bite. But it seemed friendly and just licked his fingers. Romeo gave him the bone which he played with, gnawing it for a moment. Romeo stood up straight and then reached down to hold Kaito's collar.

"It's not far!"

"You'll be home in no time."

Elfnein gave a nod to Romeo that they were all ready to start heading back. Now that Kaito was calmed down and friendly there shouldn't be any issues getting him home now.

Romeo grinned at Elfnein and held onto Kaito tightly as they walked back towards his house. As they got close Kaito began to bark excitedly and there was the sounds of foodsteps before the door opened and a head peaked out.

"Kaito?" The little girl gasped. Romeo let go of Kaito's collar and the dog ran towards the girl, barking happily. "Kaito! Kaito you came home! Mum! Mum! Kaito's back!"

Romeo watched the little girl usher her friend into the house and turned to smile at Elfnein.

"We did it!" He held out his hand for a high five! That had been some great teamwork!

Elfnein high five'd Romeo, it was good teamwork between the two of them. If it was just Elfnein there would be no way that she'd be able to complete this task.

"I couldn't have done this without you Romeo"

"And I couldn't have done it without you! You had really great ideas!"

A great team and now Kaito was safely back with his family!
