38 - Power Palette Swap

What: Power Palette Swap Event!
When: April 15th - April 18th 2017 (March 1st - March 8th 2019)
Where: Throughout the Far Shore and Near Shore
Summary: A couple of intrepid magical investigators unknowingly trigger some mishaps among the New Gods and Shinki.



For two weeks, the Ama investigators have been combing the compound where Cultists were dealt a heavy blow by the New Gods and Shinki. Among them, two in particular had been looking to move the Crystal that the cultists had in their basement, the stand that it sat on, and the dolls nearby. Combined with Waver's analysis, Judar succeeds in using his magic to transport the Crystal out of the basement.

As they manage that, a ripple effect washes over the New Gods and Shinki. There is a slight sense of Vertigo for some, a stronger wave for others, and then things start to change...



As It Happens: April 15

Everyone was minding their own business. Perhaps they were on the Near Shore helping complete a prayer, or they were in the Far Shore attending to various godly duties. Regardless of where everyone was, it's around noon when some things start to change. A mild sense of vertigo happens to those who start to experience physical body changes, while a stronger wave seems to wash over the God or Shinki's skin if their powers are changing, or perhaps even a sudden stop-in-your-tracks deadening of feeling if being depowered entirely.

April 16

Later in the afternoon, through no extra effort of the Crystal-movers, a loud noise like a subwoofer kicking into effect issues from within the Crystal, knocking anyone away who was near it by several feet. The one-shot noise reverberates in the ears of all New Gods and Shinki, triggering another change for some. At the Crystal, the black color that appeared when the former Goddess entered the Crystal fills more of it.

April 17

Closer to 7pm, once more, the noise issues forth from the Crystal, louder and knocking people back several yards this time. The Crystal fills with black and grey. Some might swear they can see a face of the white-grey against all of the black, resembling an Inkblot / Rorschach test style picture.

Aftermath: April 18

Around 10am, the black coils from within the Crystal settle down into more of whispy smoke, much harder to see in it. There's a slight tug in the direction of the Crystal regardless of where New Gods and Shinki stand, and with that pull, the change effects go away and all are returned to as they were.

"Miaow miaow." No Ebisu. He hadn't seen him at all. He nudged Ginia's hand and tilted his head to the street around them. He can help look, if she wants.

16th April; Prayer #21 for Oscar

[ No matter what he does, Caster can't figure out a way to return his body to normal. In a sense, it is his body, but also it isn't- he's stuck with his Caster powers, but looking like a Berserker. That's enough to be annoying on it's own. The inability to change back makes it worse. So why not blow off some steam? Request for assistance spoken in his name has reached his ears. Violence turned against his follower, who bound by today's law can't do anything. Police aren't doing anything and the area is growing dangerous. Robberies, attacks, someone should do something about it. If he's looking so intimidating, he might as well use it for his duties. Perfect eh? He might also use it as an occasion for training promised to Oscar, so he shoots a short message as he descends to Tokyo. ]

You know, it's really unsettling to see you with all this facepaint...

[Just saying. But here Oscar is, looking for any signs of trouble.]

[ Talk about curious thing. What Caster can gather from this exchange is A) Elfnein has met Berserker, B) she annoyed him (which can be dangerous). He doesn't make her immediately aware of the swap (because he's shit) and instead opts for ] What kind of questions? [ He has to learn a bit more about the situation first, right? ]

It is yet to be seen if it's "good" [ Okay, that was kind of in-character for Berserker to say, and he did that even without thinking. S-shit. Make his day bad, make him grumpy, give him the others face and turns out they can do impersonations of each other. ]

[What the hell is going on indeed. Shun might not get an answer right away... but he will get to hear a startled yell from down back towards the ground.]

[Garry himself had started the morning out with long pointy ears and... admittedly not much else, although he had noted he felt a little more fit. After some bewilderment, he'd adjusted to it well enough, and had decided he'd spend the day asking about what had happened.]

[However, now, he no longer has to deal with the pointy ear problem. Rather... His outfit is now the problem, which he's trying to use to cover his front up a little more. It's not that he's against the idea, exactly, but just... He wasn't expecting to wear this little???]

[He's also dropped a sword at his feet, but Garry isn't really paying much mind to that.]

april 15

[Pyrrha isn't the only one going on jogs when strange things happen. As she's standing there, puzzling out what's going on, Garry comes jogging up. He's certainly dressed for the activity, only.. his hands won't stop hovering up near his ears.]

[Considering how dang long they are now, well, perhaps that's justified.]

Excuse me- but did you just feel that?!

[He is, perhaps, a little frantic.]

The world really is turned on its head. Garry can be seen poking his head out from behind trees along the paths of the Far Shore, looking, well. Fairly embarrassed. Listen, considering the outfit he's for some reason stuck in, can anyone blame him? At least having a sword makes him feel a little bit better.... Even if he doesn't exactly know how to use one.

When he realizes why the guy on the path is so familiar, Garry almost gapes for a second before shaking his head. "Oh- Romeo? That's really you, isn't it?"

[ And waking up a Berserker can be even worse. It is commendable how well Archer takes unexpected guests though. (Maybe it has something to do with something in his life once? Who knows!) His presence stirs the dog, and soon Pal tramples through "Berserker" to greet the Exemplar, and that in turn wakes "Berserker" up. ] Ugh, you--- [ "Berserker" doesn't sound very Berserker-like when he chastises the dog. In fact he sounds quite familiar. He notices Archer and grimaces ] I was trampled because of you, right?

[In the life he has forgotten Archer had a lot of unexpected guests happen. That's not really important, though. What is important is that both incarnations of Cu Chulainn sound very similar, and the differentiating factor is face paint and grumpiness or apathy of one. As it is Archer doesn't immediately recognize that change took place. He simply thinks that for all the startling differences there's a lot of similarities shared by the two. Mainly in how they behave around animals.]

My apologies, it wasn't my intention. [he starts his apology and then freezes as Lucky wakes up at the unexpected voice and tug of the comfy bed/hood under her, turns around and-

attacks Berserker's face with affectionate dog kisses.]

[ And here is Caster, looking at Berserker, a literal mirror of his usual self. Just as Berserker mirroes Caster's usual self- But hey, at least it means he located his own body. S-score? ] What makes you think I can explain this? [ He's equally unamused, as well as-- why is it always his fault somehow????? (Maybe because quite often it is his fault. It's not this particular time) ]

[ Caster seems pretty flippant about his new appearance. At least on the surface. ] I believe these are tattoos. [ He shrugs. It's kind of weird. He's still effectively himself but- yeah, a bit taller, kind of buffer, and all those tattoos... ] Look, I surely didn't plan to wake up like this, but if I can make it useful, I will. [ Pure pragmatism at it's finest ]

[ The "Berserker" at the door brightens (if that's a word that could be used) at her sight! ] Princess, what brings you here? [ Unfortunately, it's still Berserker's form so that bright, happy smile is-- very pointy and toothy. He's also acting veeery touchy right from the start. Instead of moving on the side to allow entrance to the temple, he takes a step outside. To move next to Zelda, and attempt putting his arm around here ]

...Garry?

[ she hasn't seen him in a while, but she definitely remembers him. and his ears are...long, but she's not going to comment on it. instead, she just frowns, putting a hand to her forehead. ]

I sure did--you too? [ that's weird... ] What was that?

That still doesn't answer why you look like that.

A-anyway, what was the prayer about?

[Wait. No. Hold on a second. Garry comes to a sharp stop, staring blankly at the hooded figure. This is.... Wait. That's. Huh?]

...Is everything alright, Garry? You look as though you've seen a ghost.

Joscelin looks down at her. The perspective shift will never not be utterly confusing; as much as he enjoys being an adult, he wants things to go back to their usual configuration, and soon.

"I appreciate the thought, but there's no need. It's already stopped bleeding; it'll heal on its own in no time."

[dredefulchilde]

Romeo is Romeo, no matter what. Utterly irrepressible.

Joscelin smiles and nods. "It's exciting, isn't it? Being able to reach tall shelves. Say," he says, nudging the other boy man. "Shall we take advantage of this once-in-an-afterlife opportunity and see what the adults get to do that we can't?"

APRIL 16

[ Kairi is getting a bit more accustomed to being in this form by the time she runs into Pyrrha too. She's riding around on Nimbus between temples when she gets down a little ways from Hakkai's school. Walking by looks like Roxas, and Kairi gasps before running over to 'him'. ]

Roxas? Is that--

[ But when she gets corrected, Kairi gets even more confused. ]

Pyrrha? How? I mean-

[ She gestures to herself. ]

I'm stuck like this, but this isn't anyone we know either.

"As of about three minutes ago," Joscelin guesses. He gestures vaguely to his pale chest and the rags of his trousers. "Child size clothing no loner fits, and my voice has dropped at least an octave and a half." He rescues his phone and turns on the front facing camera. That's...his face, isn't it? This is all just too weird.

"Did you hear that booming sound just now and feel quite dizzy? Along with the bizarre sensation from yesterday? Something very odd is happening."

He isn't going to mention the fact that he had spent the previous 24 hours as a little girl.

[incinerators]

...Kairi? Is that you?

[ there's so much going on. people are experiencing all sorts of changes and pyrrha can't make any sense of it. but when she hears kairi say roxas' name, her heart hurts. she misses her friend...and she feels especially guilty that she's taken on his appearance. ]

I'm not sure... I was jogging the other morning, and got hit with a dizzy spell. [ she frowns. ] Before I knew it, my entire appearance had changed. And I suppose...I look like Roxas, now.

[dredefulchilde]

Just don't stick him in a nyan nyan maid cafe uniform, Ginia. He can't be held responsible for his actions if you do.

"I think you'd look quite odd with shorter hair," he observes, testing out the braid. It really is awfully heavy, but at least he doesn't have hair in his face anymore. "I quite like your present hairstyle."

april 16

[ For the moments up until she speaks, Shiro thinks he's face to face with a newly re-arrived Roxas. Which, you know, shouldn't be something that crosses his mind; it isn't that time, after all, but. His eyes (gee, those sure are more catlike, aren't they? and his features are definitely just... sharper) are wide until-- ]

"Mister Garry?" Was that him? Yes it was, he looked just like himself even if he was wearing really strange clothes.

"It is really me! I got all big!"
