What: Power Palette Swap Event!
When: April 15th - April 18th 2017 (March 1st - March 8th 2019)
Where: Throughout the Far Shore and Near Shore
Summary: A couple of intrepid magical investigators unknowingly trigger some mishaps among the New Gods and Shinki.

For two weeks, the Ama investigators have been combing the compound where Cultists were dealt a heavy blow by the New Gods and Shinki. Among them, two in particular had been looking to move the Crystal that the cultists had in their basement, the stand that it sat on, and the dolls nearby. Combined with Waver's analysis, Judar succeeds in using his magic to transport the Crystal out of the basement.

As they manage that, a ripple effect washes over the New Gods and Shinki. There is a slight sense of Vertigo for some, a stronger wave for others, and then things start to change...

As It Happens: April 15

Everyone was minding their own business. Perhaps they were on the Near Shore helping complete a prayer, or they were in the Far Shore attending to various godly duties. Regardless of where everyone was, it's around noon when some things start to change. A mild sense of vertigo happens to those who start to experience physical body changes, while a stronger wave seems to wash over the God or Shinki's skin if their powers are changing, or perhaps even a sudden stop-in-your-tracks deadening of feeling if being depowered entirely.

April 16

Later in the afternoon, through no extra effort of the Crystal-movers, a loud noise like a subwoofer kicking into effect issues from within the Crystal, knocking anyone away who was near it by several feet. The one-shot noise reverberates in the ears of all New Gods and Shinki, triggering another change for some. At the Crystal, the black color that appeared when the former Goddess entered the Crystal fills more of it.

April 17

Closer to 7pm, once more, the noise issues forth from the Crystal, louder and knocking people back several yards this time. The Crystal fills with black and grey. Some might swear they can see a face of the white-grey against all of the black, resembling an Inkblot / Rorschach test style picture.

Aftermath: April 18

Around 10am, the black coils from within the Crystal settle down into more of whispy smoke, much harder to see in it. There's a slight tug in the direction of the Crystal regardless of where New Gods and Shinki stand, and with that pull, the change effects go away and all are returned to as they were.

Can he? Transforming is as natural as breathing to him, he doesn't really need to do anything he can just be in cat form or human form. But now... He can't shift, nothing at all...

"Miaow! Miaow miaow miaow miaow!"

He's stuck and unable to talk for some strange reason.

At least he's not stuck in the superior form. But still...

As far as she can tell, he's just a cat now. He can still understand her, so that's good. Yes or no questions seem to be the best option here.

"I'm going to ask you questions, one meow for yes, two for no. Do you need me to contact anyone for you?"

"Miaow..." He thought about it. He should probably contact Shen Wei, he might have answers or at least he had a better chance of finding answers than Da Qing did.

But... "Miaow?" He doesn't want to worry him too much and it's not like he's forgotten his way back to the temple. He nudged Ginia's phone with his nose. She had lost her god. They should find him.

Ginia is about to ask whether she should contact Shen Wei when he meows again and nudges her phone. She looks at him a little longer before accepting his answer. It's not like he doesn't know how to be a cat. It might be different than what he's used to, but he would handle this better than most.

Okay. Next question.

"Do you remember feeling dizzy earlier today?"

That one's an easier question. "Miaow." There had definitely been dizziness and a loud noise that had given him a headache.

He tilted his head, trying to ask the same question back.

"Same here." Okay, there's a point of similarity. She'll have to check with a few more people, but it's always worth paying attention to weird coincidences around here. Especially if it's something like shared spontaneous dizziness.

Okay, back to the main question.

"Have you seen Ebisu?"

So perhaps the dizziness was part of whatever had caused this. Da Qing listened to the next question.

"Miaow miaow." No Ebisu. He hadn't seen him at all. He nudged Ginia's hand and tilted his head to the street around them. He can help look, if she wants.

It's a small shame, but it's also not a question that's too surprising. Ginia gives him a small scratch behind his ears, pausing to glance at her phone as it vibrates. There are updates on who other shinki have talked to and areas they've covered, but still no sign of their god.

"I'm going to keep looking and asking people in this area. Can you let me know if you smell or see him?" Da Qing's current form is lower, but the sharp eyesight is not to be discounted.

Da Qing tilts his head, allowing the scratches, taking comfort in them. "Miaow!" Yes. He could keep looking. Cats were great at finding people.

He nudges her phone again before moving away, he will be in touch, if he finds him or hears of his whereabouts.

Ginia waves goodbye, hoping no trouble comes his way. He's a cat, he's smart and fast on his feet, but who knows what could happen. Things are weird and could get weirder. She continues moving around the area, asking anyone that passes by. An hour passes with no news.

In that time, Ginia finds out why she felt dizzy too.

If Da Qing looks toward the sky, he'll see the strange sight of a school of sea green fish swimming around low in the air.

Da Qing makes a decent stab at searching. He can't exactly ask anyone if they've seen Ebisu but he has eyes still and ears and a good sense of smell. He wanders and clambers and sees no sight nor smells no smell of Ebisu.

Sadly an hour later he is well and truly distracted by flying green fish. He can be found trying to pounce on them, spinning around to try and find the best angle of which to attack.

Were green fish even edible? Da Qing was happy to be the one to find that out!

The green fish are unfortunately too high in the air for him to catch, and even if they were low enough, they're only illusions. Not that he can tell from the ground. Though after a few minutes of swimming around, the fish swim together to write out a message in the sky.

So yeah. Still no sign of the God of Fortune.

What clever fish! A pity they are too high though.

Someone in Ebisu's temple is powerful indeed if they can summon fish to send messages for them.

But he should... probably continue looking for Ebisu if he is still missing.
