38 - Power Palette Swap

When: April 15th - April 18th 2017 (March 1st - March 8th 2019)
Where: Throughout the Far Shore and Near Shore
Summary: A couple of intrepid magical investigators unknowingly trigger some mishaps among the New Gods and Shinki.



For two weeks, the Ama investigators have been combing the compound where Cultists were dealt a heavy blow by the New Gods and Shinki. Among them, two in particular had been looking to move the Crystal that the cultists had in their basement, the stand that it sat on, and the dolls nearby. Combined with Waver's analysis, Judar succeeds in using his magic to transport the Crystal out of the basement.

As they manage that, a ripple effect washes over the New Gods and Shinki. There is a slight sense of Vertigo for some, a stronger wave for others, and then things start to change...



As It Happens: April 15

Everyone was minding their own business. Perhaps they were on the Near Shore helping complete a prayer, or they were in the Far Shore attending to various godly duties. Regardless of where everyone was, it's around noon when some things start to change. A mild sense of vertigo happens to those who start to experience physical body changes, while a stronger wave seems to wash over the God or Shinki's skin if their powers are changing, or perhaps even a sudden stop-in-your-tracks deadening of feeling if being depowered entirely.

April 16

Later in the afternoon, through no extra effort of the Crystal-movers, a loud noise like a subwoofer kicking into effect issues from within the Crystal, knocking anyone away who was near it by several feet. The one-shot noise reverberates in the ears of all New Gods and Shinki, triggering another change for some. At the Crystal, the black color that appeared when the former Goddess entered the Crystal fills more of it.

April 17

Closer to 7pm, once more, the noise issues forth from the Crystal, louder and knocking people back several yards this time. The Crystal fills with black and grey. Some might swear they can see a face of the white-grey against all of the black, resembling an Inkblot / Rorschach test style picture.

Aftermath: April 18

Around 10am, the black coils from within the Crystal settle down into more of whispy smoke, much harder to see in it. There's a slight tug in the direction of the Crystal regardless of where New Gods and Shinki stand, and with that pull, the change effects go away and all are returned to as they were.

[ Hey, they're a handsome bunch, little modesty there. As Berserker ("Caster") steps back, Caster ("Berserker") takes a step forward because what is personal space- He wants to get a good look too. Without thinking he even reaches for the others chin to angle the head in different direction. Better than mirror. ] Does explain some things tho. [ Like the mistaken identity things. Now he has to admit- they do look way more similar than he assumed. They do sound totally different even with the same voice. Weird is fitting but it sounds like it's not enough. It's one thing to see a different class version of yourself running around- but it's completely different to being dragged out of one's body and put in someone else. ] You're coming in, or not? [ Either for a strategy discussion WHAT NOW, or to just get smashed and hope the affliction will go away? ]

[ Berserker doesn't pull away from the touch, either. It's been a long time since someone's been bold enough to invade his personal space, let alone touch him. He leans into the touch a little bit with a grimace -- a reaction he can't help and he resents it. After a moment, he jerks away from Caster with a huff. Let's not think too much about what just happened. ]

Yeah, I'm coming in...better than standing out here.

[ He pushes his way past Caster to let himself in. What a good guest. ]

[ Ah so that's his face looks when- Right, good job making it awkward. Luckily "Caster" is walking into the temple now, so if there were any prying eyes, the last they would see is the spiky tail disappearing inside. You know, that tail is interesting, Caster catches the tip and wonders ] I wonder if it's just us with this problem, or is it... more widespread. [ There are few people who could fuck up shit to this level, and what's worse, Caster knows several of them ] Guy named Add is usually the first person to go to when weird shit happens. [ Look, they might be on amiable terms now, but there is no denying Caster wouldn't have died if not for Add. He has no qualms about throwing him under the bus. ]

[ Berserker sighs, arms crossed over his chest. He met Add once and that's usually enough for him. ]

If it's just us, then this place has a sense of humor I don't like.

[ As if he liked any sense of humor, really. He relaxes just a little bit, but he's still obviously irritable. ]

If someone did do this, what purpose does it serve? It seems so petty...

This world feels too stable to be a Singularity. [ They're small pockets in space of time, here is a whole world to explore. Eight months have passed and aside for Gods being very active and very present, and lack of activity from things like "Mage Association" the world seems mostly the same. ] But "stable" doesn't mean weird shit won't happen. [ There is always something weird, the new gods themselves are weird. And now they're glitching the reality or smth. Just when they were supposed to be over with mistaken identity stuff... ] Now that you're here, we can try and find a way to get back to normal. [ Look at him, it sounds like he knows what he's doing. Spoiler alert: he does not ]
