38 - Power Palette Swap

What: Power Palette Swap Event!
When: April 15th - April 18th 2017 (March 1st - March 8th 2019)
Where: Throughout the Far Shore and Near Shore
Summary: A couple of intrepid magical investigators unknowingly trigger some mishaps among the New Gods and Shinki.



For two weeks, the Ama investigators have been combing the compound where Cultists were dealt a heavy blow by the New Gods and Shinki. Among them, two in particular had been looking to move the Crystal that the cultists had in their basement, the stand that it sat on, and the dolls nearby. Combined with Waver's analysis, Judar succeeds in using his magic to transport the Crystal out of the basement.

As they manage that, a ripple effect washes over the New Gods and Shinki. There is a slight sense of Vertigo for some, a stronger wave for others, and then things start to change...



As It Happens: April 15

Everyone was minding their own business. Perhaps they were on the Near Shore helping complete a prayer, or they were in the Far Shore attending to various godly duties. Regardless of where everyone was, it's around noon when some things start to change. A mild sense of vertigo happens to those who start to experience physical body changes, while a stronger wave seems to wash over the God or Shinki's skin if their powers are changing, or perhaps even a sudden stop-in-your-tracks deadening of feeling if being depowered entirely.

April 16

Later in the afternoon, through no extra effort of the Crystal-movers, a loud noise like a subwoofer kicking into effect issues from within the Crystal, knocking anyone away who was near it by several feet. The one-shot noise reverberates in the ears of all New Gods and Shinki, triggering another change for some. At the Crystal, the black color that appeared when the former Goddess entered the Crystal fills more of it.

April 17

Closer to 7pm, once more, the noise issues forth from the Crystal, louder and knocking people back several yards this time. The Crystal fills with black and grey. Some might swear they can see a face of the white-grey against all of the black, resembling an Inkblot / Rorschach test style picture.

Aftermath: April 18

Around 10am, the black coils from within the Crystal settle down into more of whispy smoke, much harder to see in it. There's a slight tug in the direction of the Crystal regardless of where New Gods and Shinki stand, and with that pull, the change effects go away and all are returned to as they were.

"I'm... more worried than cold, really." Considering this is definitely not his usual taste in clothing. He's not the skin tight type. Rubbing the back of his neck, Garry glances to the side.

"I'm trying to make my way back to the temple to get some more clothes that aren't so, ah. Odd."

"I can come with you!" If Garry was worried then Romeo wanted to stay with him and help him! It wasn't good to be worried and it was a bit strange that so many people seemed to be changing without wanting to!

Not that Romeo minded being big but it still felt strange that he had just grown up all of a sudden. "Where is your temple?"

"Well, if you're sure." He sort of wants to protest a little more, because this is definitely going to make an odd sight. Hopefully, other people will understand, considering how everything just... is, right now. He rubs the back of his neck, looking around to get his bearings once more. Romeo distracted him a little.

"It's in the West District. How well do you know your directions?"

"Um I know where that is a bit! Elfnein was showing me how to read maps and West is the other side than East and we live in the East!"

The heavens could be very confusing sometimes but Romeo was getting better at finding his way around, he was sure they would find Garry's temple no problem!

[artificialrose]

"Well... That's also right." Definitely the easiest way to go about it for districts like this. "But a way to tell the direction of east or west wherever you are is by looking at the sun. When it gets up in the morning, it's coming from the east, and it heads west." Even if it's really different from the Near Shore in a lot of ways, Garry is still relieved to say that some things work the same.

"Every day?" He thought about that. He guesses the sun always came up behind their temple in the morning and went further away through the day.

He grinned. "So it's like that on the Near Shore too? The sun wakes up in the East?"

[artificialrose]

"That's right." They've gotten a little sidetracked, but that's fine. Garry supposes he could be in more embarrassing clothing. "It's how people used to know how to travel, a long time ago. They'd also use shadows to help figure out what time of day it was, or where to go." History isn't his strong point, but he knows that much.

"So can you tell which way is which knowing that?"

"That's because when the shadows are really short it's the middle of the day and when they are long it's morning or evening."

Which is... About the limits of how much Romeo understands about time. He looks up at the sun now, squinting as he tries to remember if it was morning or afternoon and which side the sun was closer to.

"That way I think..."

"Then let's go." And the sooner he can get home, the better. It's kind of awkward holding his bottom partial skirt half around his front. He just wants his old clothes back...

"Have you seen anyone else going through some strange changes, Romeo?"

[myblueskies]

"Okay!" Romeo led the way, luckily perhaps for Garry Romeo's route avoided the main paths and roads, instead cutting through. It was a little more awkward and scrambly in places, especially now Romeo was big but there were definitely less people.

"Joss is also big! Elfnein thinks that someone else might be small because of it. So maybe someone has your clothes instead..."

Thank goodness for side roads and paths that aren't populated by literally everyone else. Garry lets himself relax a little, although he still does his best to use the overskirt to wrap around his front. It makes walking a little slower than it usually would be with his leg length, but it's fine.

"Well, I suppose that's always possible." The past couple of days have already been so gosh darn weird, that might as well happen. "I did have long pointed ears just an hour or so ago, so I suppose swapping clothes would be much easier... Theoretically."

[myblueskies]

"You had long pointed ears?" Romeo looked at him in surprise, he didn't have any pointy ears now! That was so weird! What was going on?

"It's all very strange..." He would have to tell Elfnein about the pointy ears and them going away. Maybe that would mean Romeo would be small again soon.

[artificialrose]

"That's right." And just when he'd started getting used to the length, they disappeared... It really is a chaotic time. Garry taps his chin, thinking harder on who he's run into.

"Another friend I know had the appearance of someone else she knew, although her voice was the same. Another person had grown wings. It doesn't seem like there's any limit, honestly..."

[myblueskies]

"That is really strange." So strange, everything was strange. Romeo doesn't really understand at all!

"Elfnein's writing it all down! She said if she writes it all down we might understand it all!"

Romeo thought it was a huge thing to try and make sense of but if anyone can, Elfnein will!

[artificialrose]

"Elfnein is quite smart, isn't she?" A smile crosses his face again. Even now, he remembers when she was still stubbornly trying to climb the volcano so that she could take notes. Worrisome, mostly, but a little admirable.

"But that's a good idea. If someone is writing everything down, then that can help piece things together. Especially since even smart people can only remember so much."

[myblueskies]

"She is! She's the smartest person I know!" Romeo grinned. He was really lucky to have such a smart goddess! Elfnein made everything make sense when it was all confusing!

"Yes it's like a big puzzle and when you got all the pieces you make the picture!"

Puzzles were fun, but this one was so confusing and complicated! But this one was important because making it would mean helping make all his friends safe!

"I'm sure that when she gets enough information, she'll figure things out," Garry agrees before looking around. He thinks he's starting to recognize some of the places they're passing by, even if it's mostly trees or distant abandoned temples. As someone who goes out jogging regularly, well, he's learned to recognize some things, even if they shift a little bit in this area of the Far Shore.

"Do you think you'll be able to find your way home, Romeo? When I've managed to make my way back, I mean to say."

"Yes mister Garry! I know my way round really good!"

Another shortcut that weaves around a temple and... Here they are! "Which one's your temple mister Garry?"

He liked exploring and that means he knew the heavens pretty well!

[artificialrose]

"It's the one in the middle of an enormous lake... with a very strange bridge- ah, here it is!" That's the good thing about Komaeda's temple, he supposes. Depending on which side a person is looking at it from, it can look either fairly normal or like any one of the many other ruins that populate the West District. Lakes, too, aren't that strange to find.

But that bridge which forms an arch that means climbing more than walking is a necessity? That's something very easy to pick out.

[myblueskies]

"Oh you live in this temple!" Romeo grins, he recognises that bridge from his many adventures around the Far Shore. "I wondered who lived there! Will you be okay from here, mister Garry?"

He should be able to get home okay now, though climbing in those clothes might be tricky!

[artificialrose]

"Yes, I should be fine." It's horrifically embarrassing trying to clamber over this bridge on a normal day, and probably going to be even moreso while he's dressed like this... But Garry imagines he can get over it. It's not as if this place has a lot of foot traffic on a normal day anyway, so he smiles to Romeo.

"Be sure to take care of yourself and Elfnein, alright?"

"I will mister Garry! I hope everything goes back to normal soon!" As much fun as being all grown up was, it would be better if everyone were themselves again.

He waved and ran off, he should go and check if Elfnein has figured anything out yet!
