38 - Power Palette Swap

What: Power Palette Swap Event!
When: April 15th - April 18th 2017 (March 1st - March 8th 2019)
Where: Throughout the Far Shore and Near Shore
Summary: A couple of intrepid magical investigators unknowingly trigger some mishaps among the New Gods and Shinki.



For two weeks, the Ama investigators have been combing the compound where Cultists were dealt a heavy blow by the New Gods and Shinki. Among them, two in particular had been looking to move the Crystal that the cultists had in their basement, the stand that it sat on, and the dolls nearby. Combined with Waver's analysis, Judar succeeds in using his magic to transport the Crystal out of the basement.

As they manage that, a ripple effect washes over the New Gods and Shinki. There is a slight sense of Vertigo for some, a stronger wave for others, and then things start to change...



As It Happens: April 15

Everyone was minding their own business. Perhaps they were on the Near Shore helping complete a prayer, or they were in the Far Shore attending to various godly duties. Regardless of where everyone was, it's around noon when some things start to change. A mild sense of vertigo happens to those who start to experience physical body changes, while a stronger wave seems to wash over the God or Shinki's skin if their powers are changing, or perhaps even a sudden stop-in-your-tracks deadening of feeling if being depowered entirely.

April 16

Later in the afternoon, through no extra effort of the Crystal-movers, a loud noise like a subwoofer kicking into effect issues from within the Crystal, knocking anyone away who was near it by several feet. The one-shot noise reverberates in the ears of all New Gods and Shinki, triggering another change for some. At the Crystal, the black color that appeared when the former Goddess entered the Crystal fills more of it.

April 17

Closer to 7pm, once more, the noise issues forth from the Crystal, louder and knocking people back several yards this time. The Crystal fills with black and grey. Some might swear they can see a face of the white-grey against all of the black, resembling an Inkblot / Rorschach test style picture.

Aftermath: April 18

Around 10am, the black coils from within the Crystal settle down into more of whispy smoke, much harder to see in it. There's a slight tug in the direction of the Crystal regardless of where New Gods and Shinki stand, and with that pull, the change effects go away and all are returned to as they were.

A MILLION YEARS LATER. April 15

[sing_for_me]

[ It was rather alarming when Alex's clothes suddenly didn't fit too well, and a glance downwards was enough to see how much she had changed. Luckily, she was at the temple at the time it happened. She quickly ran to the nearest mirror, dumbfounded at what she was seeing.

That...was certainly D2. But..she was looking at herself, wasn't she? She touches her fa--his face? She's definitely feeling that... Her hands go over the rest of her body..his body..Yeah, something was clearly missing there. Have her shoulders ever felt so light? No, but it didn't feel right either. Strange things have happened here before, but this?

She wanted to call him right away, but changing came first. Thankfully, Temeraire still had clothes there. She does notice the scars on his body, which makes her pause. It didn't match the pleasant demeanor D2 usually had... Did he know how he got them? Or maybe he was better off not remembering. If anything, at least it wasn't all that awkward for her. A man's body was nothing new to her.

Once she was at buttoning up her shirt, she'll immediately call his phone. ]

C-Carl..I think..something happened. [ God it was strange hearing her voice like that. She knew the voice, but still. ]

[geschoss]

[ The sound of his ringtone startles D2 out of his mutterings. He fumbles for his phone and for a moment doesn't realize he's mumbling Hallo, Adler before he remembers language and-- recognizes the voice on the other end. He has to take a look at the caller ID and okay, sure, this is a thing now.

D2 knows his own voice, how it sounds in his head, how it sounds on tape, or over the radio. It's still weird to hear it from his phone and know it's in real-time.. not in a mirror or video or photo. ]

Alex. [ Her voice sounds different when he hears it inside his head. ] Yeah it seems like it, something's off again, isn't that just peachy all 'round?

[sing_for_me]

[ Why..did he sound like a girl? Actually, it was a little different, but didn't he kind of sound like...? ]

I'll go to you, hang on.

[ And she does teleport to where he might be, freezing in place at the sight of him---her??? That was her body for sure, but D2's clothes. So it had to be-- ]

C-Carl?!

[geschoss]

[ So weird. This is. So very strange. D2 stares at himself---logically that has to be Alex though. The fact that he's, that's his actual given name is used is enough proof of that theory, right? She's the only one who does that. ]

H-hey... What's up...

[ How do you..react to this? ]

[ Alex wasn't even sure what to say first. Did she always look so short? This was like nothing she's experienced before..]

Do you um..want to change? We could head back to the temple and I can give you some of my clothes. Might be a better..fit.

[ Alex didn't want to stretch his clothes out or anything uncomfortable. ]

[geschoss]

I....

[ He glances down at his-her-uh- the body he's wearing...is wrong.. But at the way the clothes he's wearing on her appearance sat on this body now.. ]

That might be... goood.. Yeah..

[ On the other hand wouldn't it be weird? To undress and redress while looking like her? Wasn't it weird for her to change? ]

[sing_for_me]

[ He really felt off with all this..Not that she blamed him. ]

Alright.

[ She touches his—her— shoulder, and teleports them right to her room. ]

Let’s see..

[ Alex rummages through her clothes, finding a pair of pants and a top that should fit him better. It’s snug, but comfortable. Some..support might help him too so she also grabs a bra that should match with her underwear. Once she has everything, she holds out the small pile of clothing to him. ]

I’ve got a pair of flats you could wear too.

[geschoss]

[ Teleportation, always a bit strange.

And being handed her clothes is not strange at all. Not that he has not worn womens clothes before, like hoe he and Forrest both wore dresses for a prayer during one of those fairs, but it's a little different like this. ]

Okay... Sure, I don't think I could walk in heels so, that'd be good.

[ And he is sort of drowning in these boots. ]

[sing_for_me]

[ There’s a brief pause before Alex clears her throat. ]

Right, I’ll um..wait outside.

[ It was obviously the appropriate thing to say, it was just a little weird what with it being her body and all. ]

If you need anything just call me.

[geschoss]

Okay, sure, okay, yeah. Right.

[ He's just going to stare at the clothes for...quite a while.

And undress, he supposed, and not look down and... and... bot know how to fasten the clasp of the bra because he can't see what he's doing behind his back. ]

Uh... Alex...?

[sing_for_me]

[ She’s leaning by the door outside when she hears D2 call out. ]

Yeah? I’m here.

[geschoss]

So I may need..

[ Something to cover up with...so he's just going to drown in this shirt on backwards, because he knows she's seen all of this before but he's still uncomfortable, lasting from his uncomfortability with his own appearance. ]

....some help...

Okay.

[ She comes in slowly, considering how nervous he seems to be, and she pauses, blinking at the sight before her. There he was, staring up like he’s avoiding something with his shirt on backwards.

It hits her then what he might’ve been trying to do, and she does her best not to laugh. She does approach him though, ready to help. ]

You know..It’s okay if you look. If you think about it, it’s just a body.

[ At least compared to all the other men who’s seen her, she trusts him. ]

[geschoss]

[ Hey! He can see that! This is awkward, okay? ]

I don't want to be rude! It's bad manners to look without permission and, and stuff..!

[ They drill manners into you in the military, he can't let go of it so easily. ]

Pffft—

[ okay, not laughing was getting harder. ]

I appreciate it, really. [ Not many, if any actually, asked her permission. ]

I’m sorry I didn’t ask for yours first— arms up. [ She tugs on the shirt to pull it off of him. ]

I should’ve called right away.

[geschoss]

It's fine, I-- [ is actually pretty uncomfortable with his own body, at least naked. Guess why he always wears a shirt at the beach. ] It's fine.

[ Arms up, okay, sure, he can do that. ]

[sing_for_me]

[ He didn’t sound fine. It probably was best not to ask about his scars. She drops the shirt on the bed, spotting the other problem. ]

Oh, I see. [ The unfastened bra explained things. She moves behind D2 and clasps it together for him. Felt a little different with his bigger hands. ]

Never had to put it on from this angle. [ She tries to lighten the mood with a laugh. ] Is it too tight or too loose? [ Alex knew what was comfortable for her, but was it the same for D2? ]

[geschoss]

[ He may know how to take bras off of people and to put them on other people but not on himself.

D2 puffs up his cheeks, embarrassed. ]

Surprisingly, I've never worn a bra before so I don't know what it's supposed to feel like.

[ Alex can't help but laugh in amusement. It wasn't often she got to see or make D2 pout. Too bad she couldn't see his actual face doing it. ]

I'd say it should feel comfortable, but they're really not all that comfy. You're better off without them, really.

[ Good bras were expensive too. Oh, the struggles. ]

And you're good to go. Does that feel any better?
