Book Party [ota]

Who: Romeo, Elfnein and literally everyone in the heavens. Even if you weren't personally invited every invite came with a +ALL YOUR FRIENDS and there's also a sign. Strangers are just friends these two haven't met yet.
When: 29th April. Afternoon onwards
Where: Temple Smol (Gegute's library)
What: Just the cutest book party the heavens has ever known! Bring your best book!

Arrival

You might have received an invitation, or perhaps you are just passing Gegute’s library but there is an brightly painted sign outside.

Book Party today!

Everyone welcome! Bring your best book or dress up!

Lots of tasty food!

The doors of the temple are open and once you arrive in the lobby there are more bright arrows pointing the way into the library. If you are still stuck mister Goat is at the help desk, he’ll direct any one who needs it!

Activities

The layout of the library hasn’t really changed at all, except a few tables being moved to accommodate activities and all the comfy reading cushions have been brought to a central location. All the shelves are decorated with colourful paper chains and streamers.

Romeo had really enjoyed Yuna’s birthday party with the activities to do so he had copied the idea for Elfnein’s book party! On one table there is material for making bookmarks. You might want to recut the card strips, they are a little wonky. There is ribbon and glitter and colouring pens and glue.

On another there is a cardboard box puppet theatre, painted in a riot of colours with colourful strips of material as curtains. There is some felt and other material, as well as scissors, glue and wool to make puppets with. A sign reads in childish Hirigana. Show your best book!

Food

The invitations had promised lots of tasty food and there sure was a lot! A whole table filled with tasty treats, Romeo had been very very busy! There was a whole tray of chopped fruit, another of vegetables like carrots and cucumber.

There was bread and cheese and two bowls of pasta with different sauces. Another bowl of noddles with meat and vegetables. There was a huge bowl of rice too with a tray of grilled fish and a bowl of broccoli and asparagus.

An entire part of the table was taken up by apples and things with apples in them, apple turnovers and even an attempt at an apple pie, it was a bit smushed but probably tasted fine.

There was a tray of very misshapen cookies with messy icing and another of even messier cupcakes with far too much buttercream. There were also churos and a chocolate Gateaux, these seemed to have been bought rather than made, Romeo hadn’t even known where to start it making them!

There was an attempt at making books and other shapes out of rice and vegetables packed in the two bento boxes Ebisu’s temple had given him for Christmas, but they were a bit crumbly, misshapen or just plain strange. In the centre of Romeo’s bento attempts was his magical bento box, every time it was opened there were different fancy bento creations, if the children’s attempts left a lot to be desired.

Have fun!

"If it's any reassurance, he wanted something to defend himself against ayakashi with." Which granted, they both knew wouldn't be that effective, but it's still better than nothing.

"What kind of ability does he have? Think it's also possible he's changed his mind on the idea?"

The conversation wasn't too long after she arrived, so if nothing has happened since then, it may be fine? He did mention money was a problem from low followers, though perhaps that's changed in the months since then.

"If he's fighting, I'd really rather I be there with him..." Garry rubs the back of his neck slowly, fingers lingering while his pinky rubs right behind his ear. Komaeda isn't really a fighter, for various reasons. The idea of him having to face ayakashi on his own without at least one other person watching his back...

Ah. He blinks over at her. "Ah well... I'd usually want to ask with Komaeda first, just to check that it's alright, but I suppose he's been fairly open about the issue all on his own, so it's probably only me that finds it to be a problem." He tilts his head to the side a little, long bangs shifting with the motion and revealing a part of the shinki mark that's on his cheek there. "It's... basically very polarizing luck. Very good luck or very bad luck, with what sometimes doesn't feel like a lot of area in the middle. It's the kind of things that can seem so outrageous that you would think they'd be a lie if a regular person were telling you about them."

"I don't think he was looking for a replacement for you at all. A supplement, or a backup just in case." Is that reassuring? Ginia hopes it is. Because a shinki can't always be there for their god, as much as they want to. They all lead their own lives. Ginia knows she can count on Luger or D2 to be there for Chris, and when they can't, Chris is smart enough to take stay safe and has weapons of her own.

Polarizing luck, that's interesting. Ginia remembers a conversation about gods of misfortune and wonders if Komaeda was who Unmi was thinking of.

"That's impressive, in its way. One of my gods has incredibly good luck. I wonder if the two could cancel each other out?"

Hm? Oh! He raises his hands to wave them side to side, as if clearing the air. "Oh, no, I'm sure he wasn't. He can be very, ah... willful? And a bit confrontational sometimes, depending on if it's a subject he feels very strongly about..." Hope. Mainly hope. Garry isn't sure there's anything else that stirs Komaeda up quite as much. "But he can be also quite sweet. I doubt he'd do anything hurtful towards me on purpose like that." If anything, he's gotten even more flustered lately... Garry has some suspicions and thoughts on that, but he won't go spreading around Komaeda's business like that so carelessly.

Her question makes him tap at his chin with one knuckle. "Well... It's not quite as easy as that, I think. From how he described it to me, I can't help but wonder if, in the prevalence of so much good luck, his bad luck would get stronger for more balance."

The world has a way of balancing itself it seems. Is Ebisu's power a static or shifting thing? The curious part of Ginia wants to see what would happen if the two met. The sensible side recognizes this could be disastrous to everyone and everything around them and it's not worth the risk for casual experimenting.

Ginia is also fairly certain of Ebisu caught wind of this, he'd want to find out for his own knowledge too.

"Perhaps it's safer if the two don't meet. Along with what would happen in the area they met in, I worry about any lingering effects after they leave too."

Bad luck and good luck are a matter of perspective. Good luck could aid the wrong people in a given moment just as bad luck could aid the right people.

"At least, the good news is that Nagito's bad luck seems, ah... Mostly centralized to himself, I think." Garry taps his fingers along his book thoughtfully, going over everything he can remember for his god. "Although I'm only thinking of what he's told me from his regular life... I don't think a lot of experimentation has been done in regards to his more divine powers." And Garry isn't really sure if he's comfortable on experimentation, considering one of the stories Komaeda has told him about involves a meteor hitting a plane.

Shaking his head, he smiles to her. "Well, we'll figure it out."

"If nothing disastrous has happened because of him since his arrival, it'll probably be okay."

Probably. It's harder to get much worse than an active volcano opening up in their backyard (and that definitely wasn't his fault), but Ginia doesn't want to see how bad things could get. If Komaeda's luck centers around him, may it stay that way.

Ginia glances to the side as she catches a glimpse of Chris looking adorable in her costume.

"One of my gods showed up, I'm going to say hi before I need to run back work. See you around?"

"That is true. I wonder if that would be a comfort for him or just make him worry more." After all, one could argue that such circumstances mean that Komaeda's good aspect of his luck is mostly prevalent right now, which is something that could change at any moment in a heartbeat. Well, one way or the other...

At the way Ginia glances away from him, Garry laughs softly. "Oh, of course! It's a party, so I'm sure we'll bump into each other again soon enough." He waves a little. "Have fun!"
