[April 15th, Daytime, Open]

[Roxas needed to get out of his temple and fast. Being cooped up in there trying to figure out a way for Raichi to get in and Sora visiting has left him with the feeling of cabin fever. His first target of course will be a book store. There's plenty to read up on, plus he wanted to expand his ever growing manga collection. This one is already putting the one back in Koriko to shame.

His next stop would be any place where there's animals, such as a pet store or possibly a dog park. Roxas wants a pet that isn't a deer, what he thinks might be a bear somewhere in the woods, or an assortment of game birds. Having those as sacred animals was rough on the nerves. A dog might be nicer as a companion.

Roxas, before heading to a spot he really wants to check out, will wind up in a park. It's nice and comfortable there, and being pretty unnoticed by people makes it much easier to doze off in the grass. He's still awake enough to notice people nearby... but maybe not someone who walks quietly.]

[April 15th, Sunset, Prompt for Dataroxas]

[There was a lot of things to mull over. So Roxas found the highest place in town and just sits on the roof to enjoy the setting sun. He was always drawn to high places. Part of him wonders if Axel and Sora were, too, or that guy. That guy who he disliked immensely from the moment they met. Thinking about that guy was ruining the moment, so Roxas shoves him as far out of his mind as possible so he can enjoy ice cream in peace. He's rather lost in his happier memories from back in Twilight Town.]

Maybe I should bring Axel up here sometime...

[April 15th into April 16th, Evening to Morning, Artemis' Temple, Open]

[Since his discussion about gods and their family times, Roxas has wondered how he could reach out to the other Greek pantheon gods. He isn't actually all that sure about who was who past Aphrodite and Hermes. At the moment it just didn't jive with him to ask about it on the BBS again. Hermes would let him know if more were found. Right?

He's mostly wandering on the edge of his temple grounds to check on the statues during the night. When that's done, Roxas sits by the walkway to his temple watching everything else go by. Seems this little god can't sleep tonight.]

[April 16th, Daytime, Prompt for Axel]

[It was time to see where his best-friend-yet-not works! Roxas had suggested an ice cream stand to the red head. Was it take seriously? He's determined to find out. It's not hard to find Axel with that red hair and those green eyes. Walking right up to him, Roxas puts his hands on his hips, looking up at his friend.]

[April 16th, Evening, Open]

[The Near Shore was really fascinating at night! It was like a different population of people were out and about. Roxas was so used to seeing spirits, ghosts, and monsters instead of humans, so he's utterly fascinated by all of the humans. This kid can be easily spotted just watching people walk around, listening to their conversations, and just... rather enjoying this activity. He might need a less weird suggestion for entertainment.]

Yeah. Walnut shells can hurt a dogs stomach according to the book. So if I train it, I don't need to make a gated area. I don't want to force them into an area they won't be happy in.

I was talking about training the dog not to eat walnuts.

You already have dogs?

I have ghost dogs. I was talking about a future, living dog I'd get. I don't think ghosts eat walnuts.

[A very long pause. He feels ridiculous.]

I may have misunderstood.

[He'd pat your head if he could.]

It's okay. I think Raichi would have done the same, or worse.

If you already have ghost dogs, why do you want a stray dog?

The ghosts dogs can't leave the grounds. A living dog could!

How far do you think you'd bring a regular dog?

Anywhere I'd go the regular dog could go. Unless there's a sign that says I can't take him in there.

[Why do those signs exist?]

Wouldn't you already have companionship and responsibility in a shinki? [Why add more to yourself?]

That.... those are two different things. [Does Nageki not know?] I can't tell my shinki to fetch, roll over, tell him that he's a good boy and deserves a treat. That's what you do with a dog!

I can imagine he wouldn't at least mind praise.

[His tone is the dryest. Of course he doesn't know.]

I praise him. But he's a human. Humans aren't like dogs at all.

I'm not entirely sure about that. [The way he talks about it, it's like there's a disconnect between himself and humanity.

Internally, he wonders a little, if Hiyoko wasn't lying about the world of birds, maybe he's not human, either.]

Dogs want constant love and attention, and they love their owners unconditionally. They're always looking to please them, even if it's really dumb things like catching a ball. People... some people are like that, but people can live independently from each other.

[How to explain it in more concrete terms.] To a dog, their owner is their universe. To a human, another human is just a part of their own universe. If that makes sense.

A shinki can't live independently from their god. We're controlled by a god's desires. You only need to use a word to call any of us.

Our existences depend solely on our gods, Mister Roxas. Our universes do revolve around their decisions. The way they treat us can make us docile or violent. [Nageki... might be thinking too hard about this.]

[That... Roxas looks crestfallen. It takes him a while before he shakes his head. No. This can't be like that.]

I know a shinki is a weapon. I know I need that weapon to defeat ayakashi. But outside of battles? I don't care what they do. Raichi can do anything he wants to, but I know that when I need his help, he'll be there... If he even wants to be there. He can choose not to show up, and I have to find a different way to fight.

[He looks straight at Nageki.]

I will never force anyone to do anything they don't want to do. Ever.

That doesn't change much. You wouldn't force a dog, would you? That's the kind of person you are. You're looking up how to take care of a stray.

All we are is stray souls. I can't speak from experience, but I don't think most shinki would refuse affection and attention.

[... Maybe he's said too much. He's not used to speaking his mind, at least not like this. He's said something about himself--something revealing that he wanted to keep buttoned up and hidden.]

... At least. That's how most people are, from what I've read.
