[Roxas needed to get out of his temple and fast. Being cooped up in there trying to figure out a way for Raichi to get in and Sora visiting has left him with the feeling of cabin fever. His first target of course will be a book store. There's plenty to read up on, plus he wanted to expand his ever growing manga collection. This one is already putting the one back in Koriko to shame.
His next stop would be any place where there's animals, such as a pet store or possibly a dog park. Roxas wants a pet that isn't a deer, what he thinks might be a bear somewhere in the woods, or an assortment of game birds. Having those as sacred animals was rough on the nerves. A dog might be nicer as a companion.
Roxas, before heading to a spot he really wants to check out, will wind up in a park. It's nice and comfortable there, and being pretty unnoticed by people makes it much easier to doze off in the grass. He's still awake enough to notice people nearby... but maybe not someone who walks quietly.]
[April 15th, Sunset, Prompt for Dataroxas]
[There was a lot of things to mull over. So Roxas found the highest place in town and just sits on the roof to enjoy the setting sun. He was always drawn to high places. Part of him wonders if Axel and Sora were, too, or that guy. That guy who he disliked immensely from the moment they met. Thinking about that guy was ruining the moment, so Roxas shoves him as far out of his mind as possible so he can enjoy ice cream in peace. He's rather lost in his happier memories from back in Twilight Town.]
Maybe I should bring Axel up here sometime...
[April 15th into April 16th, Evening to Morning, Artemis' Temple, Open]
[Since his discussion about gods and their family times, Roxas has wondered how he could reach out to the other Greek pantheon gods. He isn't actually all that sure about who was who past Aphrodite and Hermes. At the moment it just didn't jive with him to ask about it on the BBS again. Hermes would let him know if more were found. Right?
He's mostly wandering on the edge of his temple grounds to check on the statues during the night. When that's done, Roxas sits by the walkway to his temple watching everything else go by. Seems this little god can't sleep tonight.]
[April 16th, Daytime, Prompt for Axel]
[It was time to see where his best-friend-yet-not works! Roxas had suggested an ice cream stand to the red head. Was it take seriously? He's determined to find out. It's not hard to find Axel with that red hair and those green eyes. Walking right up to him, Roxas puts his hands on his hips, looking up at his friend.]
Found you!
[April 16th, Evening, Open]
[The Near Shore was really fascinating at night! It was like a different population of people were out and about. Roxas was so used to seeing spirits, ghosts, and monsters instead of humans, so he's utterly fascinated by all of the humans. This kid can be easily spotted just watching people walk around, listening to their conversations, and just... rather enjoying this activity. He might need a less weird suggestion for entertainment.]

April 16
[Axel slumps, with a hang-dog look.] I was going to tell you about this place after I got my first paycheck. Uh, so.
Surprise?
[He waves a hand around the small, clean shop with its few tables and ice-cream display counter. It's pretty standard for the franchise. Lots of green and pink, including the pink on Axel's apron and on the little hat he'd been given and which is pinned on top of hair pulled into a slightly messy bun.]
no subject
[The pink clashes, that's for sure. As for the little hat and apron? On Axel? He's does his best to bite back more laughter.]
Is it a fun job?
no subject
[It's why Axel picked this place to apply, anyway. Zero commute. He can sleep in.
He grins cheerfully and props his elbows on the counter.]
Anyway, you've got good timing. I'm nearly done for the day. Want to grab some ice cream and hang out?
no subject
[Is that even important right now? Maybe the gods put it here on purpose.
Roxas pretends he's thinking hard before nodding.]
Sure! I know a great place that's got the best view!
no subject
[Axel shrugs, grinning at Roxas.]
So, while I've got the last couple minutes of my shift going, what flavor do you want?
[He waves one hand grandly at all thirty-one flavors.] The limited edition specials are over on that side.

April 15th, Daytime, Pet Store!
[He waves when he sees Roxas pass by his aisle] Roaxs! Come to pick up supplies for your future dog?
no subject
Yeah. I had no idea there was specific dog food for sizes and breeds. There's a lot of brands, too.
[His gaze turns back to the selection.]
Cows are easier to feed than dogs.
no subject
Have you considered a raw food option, instead of kibble? A lot of the affordable options tend to be not that great.
no subject
[O-Oh... such a tiny little pig. It's nothing like the ones back in Koriko! They were mean and just wanted to eat. Roxas kneels down and holds his hand out to Ino.]
Raw food? Like meat? [He's not a fan of meat, but possibly better than this stuff. What's a wheat binder?] If it's healthier, I'd go for it.

If he wanted new information, though, he had to actually visit a bookstore. The good thing about being a shinki meant no one yelled at him for loitering and reading books in the aisles.
But he's surprised to see a familiar face when he wanders between aisles looking for a relatively clear place to sit. He considers just walking by, but...]
Have you found anything worth reading?
[... If even Roxas didn't notice him until the point where he was pretty much right next to him, Nageki wouldn't be surprised. He should probably start conversations with a greeting, though...]
no subject
This ends with his arm full of manga and books tumbling to he floor out of fright.]
N-Nageki! Uhm... [This is the second time this has happened. How does this guy not have any presence?
Roxas kneels down and starts picking up his books.] A few things. I was looking for some more mythology books. They don't have a good selection here.
no subject
He didn't mean to make Roxas drop his books, though. He crouches to help.]
You'd probably need a specialty store for something like that. Or the internet.
no subject
Uh... no thanks on the internet. I can always go check out the library.
[He doesn't need a library card to leave with the books. Is that stealing? At least they get eventually returned.]

sunset.
And so, in some way, it seems appropriate to sit there alone eating ice cream and watching the sun set. The memory was never really his, but sometimes he misses discussing humanity with Sui Feng or being fussed over by a snarky dragon — even if the latter was a strange shared nightmare.
There's something to be said for companionship...but Roxas isn't the sort to voice much. At the same time as previous instances he arrives, popping up seemingly out of nowhere with a small plastic bag weighted down by its contents, intent to occupy his usual spot and ruminate alone.
But this time, someone else is already occupying that space.
His shoulders shake along with the wry, mirthless little laugh that falls from his lips]
Guess I should've expected this, huh...
no subject
He recovers quickly and looks over his shoulder. Of course it's that guy. Mood spoiled, Roxas gets up with a huff, fully facing the thing that sounded just like him.]
Let me guess... you come here all the time.
[It's not a surprise that this one would be drawn to high places. They both were. Roxas hates it. He hates sharing memories, hates sharing these small comforts, just hates everything about this situation. But as Axel pointed it out, this guy, this other Roxas, was here before him. It's a bitter pill to swallow. Even if he was the original, he was always going to be in second place.
Roxas can't maintain his anger for long. His shoulders drop and he's left feeling drained.]
Fine. I'll leave. You're always going to be the first Roxas in this world, so why do I even bother.
no subject
And what stands out more is the strange, sullen acceptance. He doesn't have to say that he always comes here, since they're doubtless motivated by many of the same reasons, and that spares time, but...]
...You're yielding.
[There's something that edges on disbelief in his tone, flat and largely inexpressive as it is. It's a bizarre notion, but then, he's never had to share a world with his original. In Monad he'd never once seen a familiar face, secondhand or otherwise.
This behavior begs the question of just what his original experienced in some other place, in his life of apparent servitude under a witch... But he's not about to ask that. Instead, he straightens and responds simply-]
But it doesn't really matter who got here first.
no subject
Roxas bites the inside of his cheek. That guy was right. Yielding.... He hates the part of him that was beaten down by his former home. How fighting against the witch ended in so much pain. Being made to feel like he wasn't worth more than the money he could bring in. He has to learn that fighting against your oppressor for your freedom was okay. It was okay to want to be more than just some worker, toiling your life away for a wish that would probably not be granted. He steadies his breath, wondering when it had become so erratic.
It doesn't last long until he loses that control again. The next words makes his anger rise up.]
It matters to me.
[It mattered a lot. Being first always gave that person an advantage.]

The park isn't a good place to sleep, though. ]
Roxas? [ she says quietly, kneeling down next to him. ]

Naminé!
[With a smile he sits up and stretches.] What are you doing out here?
no subject
[ Kneeling on the ground! Her sketchbook's nearby. ]
... Do you fall asleep here a lot?
no subject
[That's strangely good to hear. He doubts she would be doing anything to mess with Sora's heart.]
No, it's my first time here. The grass looked soft, so I laid down.

So. She's taking matters into her own hands. Time to go visit her sister, Artemis.
... Except when she enters Artemis's temple, she finds she has a brother rather than a sister. Well, that's alright. Pippa will take that. But, goodness, that hair... She won't comment on it (yet) because that would be rude. Instead, she lifts her hand in a wave. ]
Why, hello there!
no subject
When she waves, so does he. Oh! He puts his bow down right after and walks up to her with a smile.]
Hi! Are you here for Raichi?
no subject
Raichi? I've no clue who that is. No, I'm here to meet you! I'm the reincarnation of Aphrodite, you know.
