What: Spring cleaning

Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

Um... The heavens have just decided today's cleaning day... So everybody's helping out with the main hall and their own temples.

I think they just saw an empty pair of hands and wanted to put them to work.

[ She's dead so it's a lot... longer than that actually. ]

They could at least set me to something more delicate.

Um... The last one was trying to find ayakashi at a school, so maybe this is better?

Like... dusting?

Dust will get all up in my hair.

[ Just tie it up??? ]

But I guess this is a gentle introduction, huh?

Do you need a hair tie? I could go find one for you.

It's... It's much gentler than the last one we got.

Oh! Right. No, no, you're already helping out enough I suppose. At least this isn't actually dangerous.

[fullcowl]

Right. I think the worst that could happen is like... a strained muscle or something like that?

[He'll pick up two of the boxes.]

Just take these out to the trash?

I could sprain something.

[ But - although she doesn't remember it - she's actually stronger than she looks. ]

Yeah, I think it's all trash.

You did manage to move all this stuff. You're probably stronger than you think.

Can you pick up one of the boxes?

Yeah, maybe, but I'm getting all sweaty. But yeah, I can pick up one or maybe two at once?

[ Smaller ones at least. ]

Sweat isn't that bad, is it?

Alright. Take two and we'll get this done in no time.

This isn't really how I want to work up a sweat...

[ Grabbin' boxes though. ]

Ah well.

You can kind of think of it like strength training, if that's better for you? It's hard work, but there's gonna be a good spread of food at the end of it.

[He considers picking up a third, but his boxes are pretty big, and he'd rather be able to see where they're going.]

I think there's a bonfire outside we can dump this in.

I don't know if I need that much strength train-

[ Umi pauses. ]

What kind of food are we talking?

It's usually traditional Japanese foods. They had katsudon and ramen last time and a huge array of sweets. It was all really good too.

[ Umi tilts her head thoughtfully. ]

At least there's something to look forward to...

It'll be nice after all this work.

[Out to the incinerator they go! He'll just chuck it into the fire and make sure it starts to burn.]

Have you met your partner yet?

I did.

[ FIRE. It's kind of her opposite, actually, but her magic isn't as useful for cleaning up. ]

Fuu Hououji, who is apparently... uh... filling in, or whatever, for Bona Dea?

Fuu Hououji? I don't think I've met her yet. I guess you're both new?

[He can technically crush refrigerators with his hands, but then he'd break them. That just seems like a bad idea.]

I haven't heard of Bona Dea either, but I hadn't heard of Aidos before I got here.

[ Aren't they full of weird chemicals anyways? Don't poison everyone Deku. ]

Yep, I'm fresh off the, uh, River Styx or whatever.

[ Trying to make light of it is a lot easier when you don't remember how you died, or your past life. ]

Haven't heard of any of these Western gods, myself.

[He'd put it in a landfill like a responsible super hero.

Like Kido and Kacchan. Maybe it's for the best they don't remember, it seems like it would be really rough to remember.]

I've heard a couple of them, like Ares and Apollo. Just the famous ones. Some people at home use them as their hero names, and I looked into it.

[Because he's the biggest hero nerd you will ever meet.]

Umi's not entirely sure how she feels, given that Fuu seems to recognize her. ]

Oh, yeah, right. Hero names though?

[ Eyebrow raised - curiosity piqued. ]

[He tried very, very hard to make sure Kacchan didn't remember him- except he still called him by that cutesy childhood nickname and just couldn't stop himself.]

Oh... Where I'm from people can train to become superheroes, and people who successfully manage it pick their hero name. Or I guess you could consider it a work name? Deku's a nickname, but it's also what I picked for mine.

[ Fuu was a little too emotionally struck to hide it, and Umi was too perceptive. ]

Superheroes?

[ Of course, her attention was pulled ENTIRELY away from sadness by this new twist. ]

Superhero names! Oh my god that sounds amazing! You have a superpower?

Right?! Superheroes are so amazing! I've looked up to them my whole life!

[He nods!]

Mine's a strength augmentation qui- superpower! I get stronger, faster and more agile, which is really useful in a fight!
