Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[ He leans back against the windowsill, slouching. ]

You're raiding somebody else's house for a box with a jar in it?

[blossomstorm]

Raiding is too much. This is an abandoned house, so it's technically no one's.

[existentialcrisis]

Ah, you're right. On the other hand, if the house is abandoned, the god who owned it has died, right? If you take it out it might turn into a cursed box with a jar in it.

[blossomstorm]

[ He stubs out his cigarette on the window frame and leaves it there. ]

Oh, that sounds almost like a threat. Or are horror stories a hobby of yours?

[existentialcrisis]

Are they? [ It seems to be a question for himself; he pauses for a second, smoking in silence with his face tilted toward the ceiling. ] I don't know if it'd be a horror story. It could be a funny curse.

I suppose curses can be funny for those who put them. But I wouldn't know about that.

[existentialcrisis]

[ They sure can. Subject change time: he gives Tenpou a too-long look, keen and searching. ]

You have kind of a familiar face. Do you know—oh, what was his name? [ He looks up at the ceiling again, for a second. ] Cho Hakkai, I think.

[blossomstorm]

[ Subject change and casual character persona drop all at once... He'd rather deal with this though. There's still some tension, but his body language is slightly more relaxed now. ]

Ah, yes. We may seem similar, but we are very different people. This may seem obvious by now, but please don't expect me to act like him. You'll be disappointed.

[existentialcrisis]

Act like him? [ He smiles, an unspoken who would expect that? ] I just thought you might be related.

[blossomstorm]

[ This pause doubles as an unspoken please. ]

We are not.

[existentialcrisis]

Well. [ He pauses, scratching his chin, eyes drifting elsewhere for a second, evidently dropping the subject. ]

You didn't happen to find a chess set in here, did you?

[blossomstorm]

[ He'll take this change of subject with nonchalance. ]

Hmm... I think I saw one there.

[ He looks at one of the shelves that aren't empty, and follows up with a movement of his head as if pointing at it. Most of what is there seems to be garbage, but not everything is unusable. Just old. ]

[existentialcrisis]

Did you?

[ He heads over to check, silent as he takes other things not-of-interest off the shelves and drops them in a disorganized pile on the floor. ]

Ah, it's one of these.

[ His tone is mild disappointment; he may or may not be talking to himself. He slides a box off a shelf and kneels down to inventory the set, setting aside the board (the folding type), separating the black and white pieces into two groups like toy soldiers. ]

[blossomstorm]

[ ...He just watches that from where he is. ]

Are you cursing them?

[existentialcrisis]

[ Ukoku laughs, counting pawns. ]

I don't know how! If I lose a game, though, I think I'll blame the curse. I took it from the home of a dead god, and so on.

[ He looks out the window. Are there crows in sight? ]

The curse of losing, or the blessing of an excuse, is it?
